dude, I'm a few minutes into the video I thought Rubber was just a fever dream I experienced when I was younger. Learning that it was actually real AND Mr. Oizo made it is completely throwing me for a loop 😂 what a legend.
Can I just say the scene in the movie, Rubber with the turkey in the motel room has stayed with me for years! A strange and perfect movie...so glad I stumbled onto this video !!
Pad, let me explain why "Two Takes It" is artistically amazing. When I first heard it, I immediately thought of TThhEe PPaARRtTYY by Justice. That song was considered "probably the worst track on Cross" by many. It was an ironic song about the culture surrounding Divinos and how fake "cool" everyone was, trying hard not to look like they were trying hard. *Basically, Justice wrote a song that's not very Justice and had someone sarcastically rap the d!ck-swinging lyrics to show that they weren't serious.* The vocalist has a half-hearted vocal delivery, in my opinion, because the lyrics aren't serious. "I wanna come right now/in ya face, let me show ya how" "Ladies love me, girls adore me/I mean even the ones that never saw me" the lyrics occasionally slip and say something odd and then contradict themselves, and it's just kind of a mess. *And that's the genius of it.* If it is a satire song, it does an amazing job of doing so, mocking egotistic lyrics with halfhearted delivery by a vocalist who sounds female, which literally contradicts the phallic imagery. Or maybe I'm a raging lunatic and the song is unironic. Just wanted to offer a new perspective. EDIT: I was originally thinking of Steroids but upon relisten my take seems to work on both songs
One thing I find delightful about the title track is it opens with "This audio was recorded... BY FLAaAT ERIC." And then at the end it says something like "That's enough. Go back to the closet." It just tickles me to think of Flat Eric crawling out of a closet, looking around frantically, banging some spoons together or something, and then Quentin comes in, looking mildly bemused, and ushers him back in.
I remember this album making me frightened, anxious, not knowing where to stand or even where to look and listen. It was an experience I never felt before and I'm yet to feel again. This album is an absolute legend.
I have listened to electronic music before but when listening Mr. Oizo's music just felt so genuine it made me realized why electronic music is so awesome.
Jeez, I was not expecting for you to also cover Mr. Oizo! I do have to say you did an excellent job making this analysis video on one of my favorite albums from notable french house artists! You’re the best!
dude thanks so much! this video was a long time coming, mr oizo has shaped my musical taste so heavily since discovering him in the late 2000s.... idk what id do without him lol. hopefully this video can introduce him to some new listeners!
I gave this album a listen around the time this video was released. The best way to describe Lambs Anger is like a bag of assorted gummy candy, where one bite will be the most delicious thing ever graced on young tongues while another bite will taste like black licorice. Overall, this album is pretty cool!
I’d love to hear you go over his other albums. It’s rare to hear someone talk about Oizo or albums in general with this high of quality. Going from track to track with your opinions on each one. It’s really nice!
One of my favorites ever. When I was younger I’d listen to Lamb’s Anger, Digitalism’s Idealism, Daft Punk’s Homework and Justice’s Cross back to back :) good times
ok here is a curious piece of data i found out on my own a little while ago: flat eric appears in the game crossy road as a playable character, and when you select him the entire world takes a kind of musical dive. is super endearing and cool, i love playing with him, and even more so while listening to the wonder that is lambs anger, is just great.
I like how the title track is essentially just a treat to flat eric's fans while also being like a deconstruction of music, it has all the elements that makes it technically a piece of music, yet it doesn't sound like it.
If you enjoy mr oizo you should definitely check out Siriusmo, I hope you make a video on that dude, shits absolutely crazy, I dont know if siriusmo got me into oizo or the other way around but theyre so similar and different at the same time, I would describe It as oizo in terms of chaotic structure but way smoother, both make non conventional music but if you can see past the weirdness and 'ugliness' of the sounds they make, you can find some absolutely beautiful arrangements of non conventional electronic music, hes collabed with oizo a few times too
I respect Dupieux for some songs, but Lambs Anger is edgy af. This album is like a razorblade to the eye. Some people may be excited, but it's fucked up and makes me feel uneasy.
Nice to stumble across a fellow appreciator of this masterpiece. I think the thing that initially struck me and continues to unfurl with every listen is the idea that no technique is illegal. The textures are plastic, metal, foam, nature, crayola... but the whole composition becomes a frankenstein's monster. A sentient and relateable character. The previous LP, 'Moustache (Half a Scissor)' has an incredible amount of butterfly stomach moments, but this one is the album I return to most frequently. Impossible to ignore in any background situation; I have to go to the amp and crank it. An album that literally leaves nothing to the imagination and is unconcerned with subtlety, and somehow also evokes a completely alien musical terrain. A criminally underrated gem.
Thank you for giving Mr. Oizo some spotlight! I'm a huge fan of his work, my personal favourite of his would have to be Moustache (Half a Scissor). He manages to bridge the gap between IDM and EDM which I haven't seen many artist do, making his tracks really experimental without losing that "dancablity" to them.
I'm french and also a big fan of Oizo's work. It it really heartwarming to see someone from another country talking so well about his work. Great job !

Ive been a Mr Oizo fan for over 10 years and watching his evolution since then has been wild , Lamb's Anger is amazing but for me its a tie between it and Analog Worms Attack and both are between my favorite albums of all time. Great vid Pad I would love to see you analyze M-Seq and Analog Worms Attack that would be bomb to see your opinion on the tracks and those crazy analogies like you did here, eager to see what you upload next tho.
Mr Oizo’s Civilization by Justice remix is one of the most underrated pieces of electronic music. People shat on it on youtube but I find it absolutely amazing
I think the only reason people hated it on RUclips is because the RUclips version fucked up the mixing, so the panning from left to right was all wonky, and you could only really hear the music in one ear.
Damn this was one of my favorite albums back in the day. I've still got my flat eric around here somewhere. I used to make step files for stepmania and I made one for Cut Dick. You're so right about how damn funky that song is.
"All Wet" the track he made together with another fantastic artist, Siriusmo, is probably one of the best electronic pieces of music my ears have ever witnessed
I love Mr Oizo but Siriusmo is above gods. Everything he remixed/collaborated turned way better. I just wish he realizes how good he is before he stops producing for good. I feel like he just don’t give a f. And despite being so hard to nominate a favorite album of all times, I guess Mozaik is my favorite.

The razor cutting the eye scene is there to tell the viewers to observe the film with a pair of fresh eyes, literally telling them to be open minded about what a film can even be, and mr. Oizo perfectly used it as a reference on his album art
I knew of Oizo from back in the late 90’s but I’ve left it until today to truly fall down the sonic rabbit hole that is lambs anger, I’m fucking mesmerised!
One thing you don't go into are all the weird "references" to other media that happen all over the album. Obvious ones are the cover art referencing Andalucian Dog and "Two it Takes" referencing Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock. Also I always thought of "Bruce Willis is Dead" as some sort of a nod at L.A. Style's 1991 dance track "James Brown is Dead". The two tracks are just similar enough to make a connection, but different enough to make you think you're crazy for making that connection.
I'm so glad you got to cover Mr. Oizo on your channel. He was driving his black Alfa Romeo fast into the night, and I would just be stuck to my seat because of both the speed and the music.
I have discovered so much amazing music watching your videos. This is an amazing album, genuinely. It's got all that good stink comin' off of it. I've been jamming it ALL DAY. Thanks for making videos about weird stuff.
Oh my god I remember when analog worms attack was humorous. I just love the ed banger label. Lambs anger has alot of treats. For me it's the bizarre sounds that every sound gives. A lovely album frankly
This analysis made me very happy, it's not everyday someone takes the time to dissect an album in my favorite genre. Total by SebastiAn is my all-time favorite album for a lot of the same reasons you love Lamb's Anger. I recently watched a review of Total that made me upset because the reviewer just kept saying "it's just a noisy Justice wannabe," so I sincerely thank you for giving Lamb's Anger as much thought as you have!
You're amazing at describing albums, Pad. You can sell me a ticket to a fuckin insane asylum. I gotta go check this out now because my curiosity is beyond peaked
Pad Chennington it's actually a really great album! I went into it expecting more of a Residents or Captain Beefheart type of album, so I was pleasantly surprised that most of the songs were based around pretty funky/disco/house bpm's and sounds. I definitely see why it's hard for some people to get in to, but I think it's trying much less to be "avant garde" and more just fun in a weird way. Something that can be prisyadka'd to on acid. 13/10
Ive been listening to that album for a year now and Im sooo happy that you made a video about it , and I have to say I really agree with you about "two takes it" and "steroids"
lambs anger is my favorite oizo release and very up there as both one of my favorite albums ever and one of the best releases from edbanger. good vid!!
this video actually introduced me to mr oizo. i thought you are a crazy man describing these songs in such crazy details. i still think you are, but at least now i know about mr oizo's works. this album alone inspired me to make much more experimental music and still have it be goddamn jamming. as with other oizo's works, its rather simplistic but it really does get the job done. the compression on all the tracks reminds me of justice's cross and i love it. personally, i dont exactly give actual scores to experimental albums like this. it just doesn't feel right by me and im not sure why. mr oizo's works to me are just something for me to appreciate. having them sound good is a bonus, but everything else is just interesting to listen to.
I love the texture of the track lambs anger, and I love error jean, Blind Concerto, gay dentist, jo... Actually, I love all the tracks on that album (if you only count the music, lars von sen doesn’t count) And as a french myself, I feel proud that we have such great artists in our country! :P In the end, this was a good video and lambs anger is an amazing album.
I recommend the JFK edit of Gay Dentists. I believe Oizo considered it a “finished” version of his original: ruclips.net/video/0c53xe2UyPM/видео.htmlsi=tJVYxNUD2J2dOFEu Thanks for making this. This album has also had tremendous influence on my life.
Analog Worms Attack and subsequent albums from Mr. Oizo have been one of my biggest musical inspirations. There's something twisted I love about being slightly wonky, wrong, or unconventional. It's a fun challenge sent out to the listener. Like, "yeah I could do something that your brain likes according to the exact science of sound, but how about THIS?"
Heyo this just popped up on my feed. So nice to see someone praising an album I love that I can’t get anyone else to listen to. Have to say I disagree with you on Two Takes It but different strokes and all that. Once this one wraps up I’ll head over to your channel and check out some more of your content, thanks for a great upload
Hey pad! Thanks so much for the upload man. You’re getting me through the winter so I can get back to summers of Acid and S U R F I N G. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for covering Mr Oizo's stuff , especially this CRAZY album that I've always had a fascination for. You should do more Ed Banger related stuff! (If it interests you)
dude are we listening to the same Lambs Anger? how can you not love Erreur Jean and Blind Concerto? The ending of the track "Lambs Anger" ;"that's enough, get back in the closet" followed by the pure chaos that is Erreur Jean is hands down my favorite moment of this thing.
I have revisited this video like twice now. I don't know why. Maybe there isn't too many on youtube that are talking about Mr Oizo. Or maybe it is just a really good video. Maybe it's both.
honestly we have near identical opinions; i love this album so much to the point where its imperfections make it perfect! Quentin knows how to make each project in his discography a big middle finger to music theory while at the same time creating a unique charm of aggression and dance-ability to keep the listener with some kind of bizarre reaction. I'd rank All Wet and Rythme Plat as materpeices as well, but thats probably just me. good video!

The vocalist has a half-hearted vocal delivery, in my opinion, because the lyrics aren't serious.

"Ladies love me, girls adore me/I mean even the ones that never saw me"
the lyrics occasionally slip and say something odd and then contradict themselves, and it's just kind of a mess.
*And that's the genius of it.*

Just wanted to offer a new perspective.

I have discovered so much amazing music watching your videos. This is an amazing album, genuinely. It's got all that good stink comin' off of it. I've been jamming it ALL DAY. Thanks for making videos about weird stuff.
Ask you described each song I went back and listened to each track, and I must say I’ve fallen back in love with this album. Solid masterpiece.
absolutely incomprehensible thumbnail + title combo
Oh my god I remember when analog worms attack was humorous. I just love the ed banger label. Lambs anger has alot of treats. For me it's the bizarre sounds that every sound gives. A lovely album frankly
ed banger has to be my fav label of all time... justice Mehdi oizo... busy p.. just straight up killaz
@@PadChennington you cant not mention my boy seb
Thanks for introducing me to this album, I absolutely love it!
Listened to it after seeing your top 10 albums vid and Im so hooked on it
One of my favorite electronic albums ever, right up there with DP Human After All.
You're amazing at describing albums, Pad. You can sell me a ticket to a fuckin insane asylum. I gotta go check this out now because my curiosity is beyond peaked
LOL Thank you!! let me know what you think!
Ive been listening to that album for a year now and Im sooo happy that you made a video about it , and I have to say I really agree with you about "two takes it" and "steroids"
happy to find someone who can relate! and yes, this album is an absolute gem, this video has been a long time comin!
Honestly, Daft Punk should have collabed with Mr Oizo
This album was a major discovery for me when I first heard it in college. 2005-onwards gave us the best in French Electronic Music
lambs anger is my favorite oizo release and very up there as both one of my favorite albums ever and one of the best releases from edbanger. good vid!!
this video actually introduced me to mr oizo. i thought you are a crazy man describing these songs in such crazy details. i still think you are, but at least now i know about mr oizo's works. this album alone inspired me to make much more experimental music and still have it be goddamn jamming. as with other oizo's works, its rather simplistic but it really does get the job done. the compression on all the tracks reminds me of justice's cross and i love it.
personally, i dont exactly give actual scores to experimental albums like this. it just doesn't feel right by me and im not sure why. mr oizo's works to me are just something for me to appreciate. having them sound good is a bonus, but everything else is just interesting to listen to.
after not listening to it for like 5 years, I literally just gave it another listen last week. weird
Mr Oizo is an absolute BEAST 😤😤🔥🔥
THE GOAT!
I love the texture of the track lambs anger, and I love error jean, Blind Concerto, gay dentist, jo... Actually, I love all the tracks on that album (if you only count the music, lars von sen doesn’t count)
And as a french myself, I feel proud that we have such great artists in our country! :P
In the end, this was a good video and lambs anger is an amazing album.
weird... this random video pops into my feed and I discover Mr Oizo and this channel on the same day
it must be a sign :)
broo don't diss on Rank that song is fire
Erreur Jean and Blind Concerto too, they're all bops
You really summed up this mans style perfectly
He’s like the Primus of the techno world.
mr oizo's whole discography is just this:
it sucks but i love it
"Gay Dentists" @ 2:00 is the hardest drop ever achieved in electronic music
Okay, I had to sub after this. Mr. Oizo is so amazing and seeing praise towards him in 2020 got me so excited.
I love the album cover, but it gives me a vibe I can't really put my finger on
I recommend the JFK edit of Gay Dentists. I believe Oizo considered it a “finished” version of his original: ruclips.net/video/0c53xe2UyPM/видео.htmlsi=tJVYxNUD2J2dOFEu
Thanks for making this. This album has also had tremendous influence on my life.
analog worms attack is such a great album as well! i love lambs anger too! mr oizo really is like mega underrated
Yep! Hoping this video gets him some much deserved attention
Man Oizo made me. I have no idea where and how did i get "analog worms attack" without internet in my childhood but definitely it made me
kinda same with this album, idk how i stumbled upon it in my teens lol
After watching this video, listening to the album front to back, then watching this video again, I can say that I think it is overall very solid.
Hey pad! Thanks so much for the upload man. You’re getting me through the winter so I can get back to summers of Acid and S U R F I N G. Keep up the great work!
I GOTCHU HOMIE
Thanks for covering Mr Oizo's stuff , especially this CRAZY album that I've always had a fascination for. You should do more Ed Banger related stuff! (If it interests you)
Surface-level review. There's a lot to this album, producer, and sample sources.
pad chennington loves mr. oizo?!!!? fuck yeah. deeper respect for you, sir.
Never heard of this but happy for the education. Super interesting
my main man, the video with Ron you just did was great. please bring more of that!
dude are we listening to the same Lambs Anger? how can you not love Erreur Jean and Blind Concerto? The ending of the track "Lambs Anger" ;"that's enough, get back in the closet" followed by the pure chaos that is Erreur Jean is hands down my favorite moment of this thing.
I love this album, thanks for this.
you got it!
I have revisited this video like twice now. I don't know why. Maybe there isn't too many on youtube that are talking about Mr Oizo. Or maybe it is just a really good video. Maybe it's both.
I’m still super into Ed Banger, and it took me a while to get into Oizo, but I remember being hyped for All Wet.
YEA CUZ OF SIRIUSMO
honestly we have near identical opinions; i love this album so much to the point where its imperfections make it perfect! Quentin knows how to make each project in his discography a big middle finger to music theory while at the same time creating a unique charm of aggression and dance-ability to keep the listener with some kind of bizarre reaction. I'd rank All Wet and Rythme Plat as materpeices as well, but thats probably just me. good video!
This album was insanely influential to the forming of my taste as a teenager. Cool to see a video doing justice to this.
So fucking happy you're going over Mr. Oizo!
thanks for watching! I had to eventually, love that damn man.
He's great! Wrong Cops introduced me to his work both musically and cinematically. Been hooked since.
have you seen any of his other films? any you recommend?
@@PadChennington Recommendations in this order: Wrong Cops, Wrong, and Steak. Some top tier, surreal, dark comedies. Hope you get a chance to check them out if you haven't already, man!
wow i need more content like this...give me more
aka how one muppet stole everyone's hearts.
