Some stuff here... Ocarina of time was originally planned to be solely an N64DD game. The URA Zelda cart was a last ditch effort to get the N64DD functionality into the game, and then it just devolved into a level pack. The N64DD actually was planned to personalize every copy. No joke. Miyamoto said "the initial goal for this game was to make full use of the 64DD, utilizing its hardware to create a persistent world with lasting effects such as trees remaining cut once the player had chopped them down, or Link leaving permanent footprints behind him wherever he walked." The magnetic disks enabled saving and rewriting capabilities that could "personalize" each play through of the game. The game ended up having to be completely redone from scratch then they fully gave up on the N64DD ever coming out in America. Islamic symbols don't mean "the enemy", they represent the Gerudo. The missing Castle Towns folk refers to the people who are in Castle Town when Link is a child, but aren't in Kakariko Village when Link is an adult. Rauru's Temple wouldn't have been the Wind Temple, it would have been the Light Temple. Three temples were cut, Light, Wind, and Ice. Most of the cut wind temple assets are used in the Forest room of Ganon's castle. Also Yuriofwind doesn't have Zelda 64. Everyone knows it's locked away deep in Nintendo's vault, somewhere in Miyamoto's closet, next to an Italian plumber who thinks he's Mario. :)
The Malon is an alcoholic one makes no sense. Even with the correct attribution. Unless there are bottles in her room or something. Cremia wanted to get Romani drunk to make sure she sleeps through the impending apocalypse. Like if the world ends it was an act of mercy, if not Romani got to have her first drink and would be happy to be treated as an adult and an equal to Romani. (Especially since she did save the farm after all with Link)
I kinda wonder if the iceberg author was operating on the assumption that the Termina counterparts suggested hidden aspects of the original Hyruleans. Even then though, it's a big leap to go from "caring sister gives her little sis a drink as an act of mercy" to "Malon is an alcoholic", which makes me wonder if the author misinterpreted the scene like you said.
What's silly though is that Chateu Romani has a completely different effect on Link than Lon Lon Milk does. So even if we agreed thay Chateu Romani=Alcohol, it's unlikely Lon Lon Milk also does.
"the child shown in this footage would later be permanently admitted to a psychiatric ward, after prolonged distress due to not getting that gosh dang soda"
Something that I feel like would work on this iceberg would be the "Overture of Sages". This was possibly the biggest ever hoax in the Zelda community, wherein February 1999, someone calling themselves "Ariana Almandoz" claimed to have discovered how to obtain the Triforce in Ocarina of Time. While there were a lot of people who claimed to have found the Triforce, especially at this time, Ariana was the first to provide screenshots, showing fake screenshots of not only the Triforce, but Link learning a song called the "Overture of Sages" from Kaepora Gaebora and Link entering the "Light Temple". These images were largely believed to be true at the time but were revealed to be a hoax in March 1999, since there were some inconsistencies in the pictures. Still, I feel like it is something that deserved to be on the iceberg due to at least being a big part of the community's history, even if it's been mostly forgotten about.
Could be an anxious guy, with little to no public speaking experience, looking at the possibility of speaking on a video that would be seen by hundreds of thousands of people? 🤷🏽♂️ I’m gonna assume that before trying to be funny insulting him, but if it’s not the case then..... fuuuuucccckkkk that guy!!!!!!!!!!
By gathering all four N Coins, Link obtains the N Pass. The N Pass is the only way Link can say a special spell that would permanently seal Ganon outside of time. The only drawback being the sheer power of that spell could also banish Link as well. This means time would lose its greatest villain, but also its greatest hero...
The atmosphere of the video is something that I've always loved about your iceberg videos. The music choice really helps in setting an eerier tone for the lower layers, but in a way that doesn't seem forced or in your face about it.
I can tell you’re trying a little harder to sound “professional”, but I actually preferred the conversational tone of the mario iceberg video a lot more. A drier, more scripted type of video isn’t really what most people like your channel for. Not to sound too nitpicky, I’d just hate for you to feel like you have to change your tone because of all the new attention you’ve gotten lately. Edit: and as a matter of fact, you don’t even really go into the details of what each item is referring to and what it really means, just sort of a vague summary of what people are referencing. seriously, give yourself more time to just talk about what you personally think about the topic.
I can definitely see where you're coming from. I think it's a combination of wanting to seem more professional, and just not knowing nearly as much about Ocarina of Time compared to Mario 64. I will be the first to admit that this video isn't perfect. I am very much a "screw it, the video is _good enough_ " type of guy as opposed to being a perfectionist. Probably not something I should be openly admitting lol. I think a lot of the laziness and cut corners in it are just a result of me wanting to get it done more than anything. I am sorry if this vid was underwhelming, but thank you for the feedback.
This iceberg is trying so hard to be like the Mario 64 one and is failing so badly. The creators made a whole new creepypasta just to make it more interesting and so many things are in the wrong level (the fetuses in the lab should've been lower and the running man in Mario Sunshine should've been way higher, for example). It honestly feels like the guys who made this iceberg just scrolled through the OoT page on the Cutting Room Floor and put everything they found interesting in it, without even researching what the info was referring to and how popular these mysteries were.
Yeah, I wish stuff wasn't made up for this one, although I can totally buy into personalization, not the disk version though. I remember as a kid just seeing things that I went out of my way to find again when I was older, and I found nothing. There is some weird juju surrounding this game sometimes
Yeah, the fact that this mainly uses tcrf content and has to make up a rumor for creepy factor is disappointing. Especially considering ocarina of time has that same mystery factor mario 64 does, imo. I think the image could have been a lot better
@@IsabelleChiming It's hardly possible to make gold on purpose. I remember seeing iceberg images like that back on 4chan a couple years ago, and the Mario 64 one just gained traction for them this year, mainly just due to good timing with 90s 2000s internet kids having nostalgia for schoolyard rumors and creepypastas, which are basically impossible in the same form these days unless mad obscure, that being combined with semi-convincing imagery. But it's all the same subject, it'll get boring fast.
i'm sorry but this panic 64 dude just has the worst delivery ever it's so wooden and hardly makes the topic feel interesting i know i had a top comment on the mario 64 video that seemed pretty negative but it was a joke i like these videos and i think you can make the next one better by keeping the narration to yourself you're actually very good at it imo and keeping it to a single narrator i think would keep the viewer more invested throughout
You got to love just how polarized the intro to this and the Mario 64 iceberg are. "Like I don't need to explain what an iceberg imagine is" "Like holy shit this went viral, and what I took as common knowledge is actually super niche and now I have literally millions of people asking me to explain what an iceberg image is." In any event, good stuff man. Been looking forward to this.
I really hate how most icebergs are putting an "Apparition" or "Game is personalized" because it's on the Mario 64 Iceberg. Like you said, Ocarina of Time has enough mysteries to be interesting on its own, but if you want some funny or creepy joke entries, make up your own ideas, people. I agree with others that you sound too "professional". Like you're giving a speech for some stupid school project that no one wants to do. When you're recording, try acting like you're talking to a friend. Write like that, too. Read everything you write aloud, preferably to a person, so you can make sure your words sound natural. It didn't go anywhere, but I experimented with writing and recording, and I found these things to be helpful.
There is hyper realistic blood in my personalized copy of a video game I got from an old man in a garage sale which is haunted by the soul of some kid who tragically died or something like that, also my friend told me that I like...shouldn’t play it? I dunno guys, sounds pretty legit. And no you can’t see proof because I destroyed my cartridge, my PC short circuited, you’ll be cursed too if you see proof, my house burned down, and I died. Sorry and thanks for understanding.
Not a big fan of this Iceberg, there were a lot of things that were either repetitive, based on nothing, or pretty obvious. It’s a shame because OoT has a lot of good material to work with. The whole Aria apparition is really dumb and is an obvious way to coattail on the mystery of the Mario 64 Iceberg. Overall it feel like it was made by someone with little knowledge on OoT who wanted to piggyback on the success of the Mario 64 iceberg. However, it makes me want to think up an iceberg for a game or franchise I’m passionate about like the Mother or Megaman series.
@@bN_isheeere yea now things got betted but stuff was pretty bad at the time There is also ths internet iceberg that became so popular 10 years ago that people still think the internet has layers
I'm honestly glad you mentioned the Aria thing being made up for an easy "bottom of the iceberg" thing. It really felt like an old cliche creepypasta that was rushed.
Love your vids!! Your deadpan reading of the Aria bullshit with Mario rapping in the background killed me lol. I hope you keep injecting your humour into future stuff.

The upside down triforce is the iconography for lorule, meaning that there could be connection between oot and lttp/lbw. Could also mean that termina and lorule are also somehow connected, thats probably why the creator placed it on the iceberg.
Termina is debatable considering some of the theories surrounding it (though canon is clear on them having no relation), but I assumed the upside-down Triforce in OoT was a bit of early installment weirdness; lore wasn't exactly totally nailed down at this point (arguable to say that lore has *ever* been nailed down in this series, but you know what I mean), and unless I'm misremembering the video the upside-down Triforce didn't make it into final OoT.
definitely wasn’t intentional for the developers at the time given it was even put in the final game but it is fun looking back now and speculating about lorules connection to the hyrule we see in OoT
about the poe collector. The dialogue from the gaurd hints at his eventual fate as the poe collector and there is also a Sheikah statue that says the gaurd has a strange infatuation with ghosts.
There's no passion or urgency in his voice so to be completely honest he shouldn't have been part of the video. Hopefully he's okay and it's not due to depression or anxiety.
I love the effor that they put onto this, however... I must agree. I prefer the original guy. I didn't want to sound mean or unrespectful, however, it's how I feel it should be.
With regards to the Poe Collector = Jar House Guard, further evidence: During the day, he complains how boring the world is and wishes there were more disorder in the world, and in the future, the Poe Collectors praises the chaos in the world and hopes it gets even more chaotic. The biggest evidence that supports this theory though is that during the night, the guard says that studying ghosts is a hobby of his and says that one day it could come in handy, and of course, seven years later, the Poe Collector is a ghost expert that rewards you for giving him Poe Souls (in the form of rupees and one of the 4 obtainable bottles after you give him 10 Big Poe Souls).
The original Fire Temple music with the chanting is incredibly creepy to me, creepier than the second version by far. Cultural sensitivity aside, I'm kinda glad they swapped it out lol Also, great video!
3:30 if you shoot the window on the opposite side a guard peeks his head in the window and tells you to stop making trouble, then he throws a bomb at you.
I enjoyed the "personalized Mario 64" and "Wario Apparition" stuff in the Mario 64 iceberg, but I don't want other icebergs to do it just because the Mario 64 one was popular. If you're going to make up theories, I hope they will be more creative. I mean, "a designer died while making this" is like the most common creepypasta trope. I still really enjoyed the video though.
I think that Aria is the mother of Oot Link, because of the cinematic after the deku tree sprout, where she will give baby Link to the forest. However, this cutscene was never made or changed to the only fire one, to give more dramatic weight to the fact they were in war times. i don't know if is good or not, because it only holds for the fact that Aria's model wear green clothes, but hey, better than Aria's apparition.
When putting it in, I was like "dang I want to do a fade to black transition after I'm done talking about some sort of secret" but I didn't have a lot of footage recorded, so that was the best option lol
YYEEEEEEESSSSSSS I’ve been waiting for this, your SM64 iceberg was so good I loved it. Ocarina of Time is one of my favorite games that I you for making a video on it, also when you started playing the hirule field theme it was super loud and scared me lol
4:28 that is a shark behind bars, meaning their dislike for people to use gameshark devices and such, it also looks pretty much like the shark in the gameshark logo
I think it'd be hilarious to have a little more fun with the more memey/creepypasta fake entries towards the bottom of the iceberg. With all due respect I admire your thorough fact checking for every other entry but the final section of the iceberg is always the driest section. That being said great video as always you earned a sub :)
i think the title screen purgatory refers to link and epona on the actual title screen. Link has a certain set inventory that doesn't change and he just keeps repeating the same movements with epona
the part about Marlon being an alcoholic I think I understand, as all the manora's mask characters are mirrored versions of another dimension of their counterparts in hyrule, Cremia and Romani having this involvement with alcoholic beverages, may mirror that their version in hyrule Malon, there are also these involvement with alcohol manifested by Romani's desire for alcoholic beverages. (anyway I doubt anyone read this a year after the video was released lol!)
The very baseline of the Aria apparition is an interesting idea but then it droned on. A test NPC lost in the code who can only be found bringing two games together? Interesting. Some people might even believe it. The rest? No way
Here we go again. For real though, any iceberg theory that followed the Super Mario 64 one feels too forced and like its trying to hard. Regardless, so far the video is explaining wacky stuff so I can't complain. Although I think you should've replaced the Mario health with something like heart pieces.
Think they could've added more of the NPC interactions. Most of them are optional, but some are still kinda interesting. One that sticks out is the master craftman's son, I'll just call him the forest guy from here on. In Kakariko when you're child link, if you talk to the master craftsman he'll give the usual boomer spiel about how young men nowadays are too lazy, like his workers. He also mentions how his son hasn't even got a job. Also in Kakariko another NPC will let you in on a little secret, the master craftman has a son and he lays under the tree at night. At night, when you see him, he looks nothing like his dad. He's thin and pale, kinda odd looking. When you talk to him he just says everyone is disgusting, even his own parents. Pretty depressed dude I guess. 7 years later as adult link you see him in the lost woods. He seems to be sleeping and he doesn't respond when you go near him. However, through the trading side quest you can receive a blue cucco called Cojiro from the cucco lady. She says it used to be her brother's cucco and that it's stopped crowing since he left. She also mentions her brother must be very lonely. If you use Cojiro in front of the forest guy he'll wake up and recognize Cojiro, confirming he's the cucco lady's brother. Even though he's usually depressed and distrustful, he now trusts you're a nice guy cuz you were able to tame his cucco, something only he could do. He gives you an odd mushroom and tells you to deliver it to the potion lady. When you do, she recognizes who it's from and calls him a bum for being in the forest, but still turns it into a potion to give to him. When you return, he's nowhere to be seen. Instead there's a kokiri girl where he was. She implies he got lost and has become a stalfos. She kinda teases Link asking if he'll become one too, so she could be joking. However we don't see the forest guy the rest of the game, even in the credits where most of the characters you've seen throughout the game are celebrating Ganon's defeat. Pretty sad story for the guy. This is just an interpretation, maybe not intended by the developers, but I think given his odd look he probably took a liking to Cojiro, the odd cucco. He also could've been sickly, explaining his pale skin. He was in the lost woods, presumably scavenging for mushrooms to turn to a potion after all. I remember feeling kinda sad for him when the kokiri girl said he's probably a stalfos now, just some lonely guy who's best friend was a chicken.
The Aria apparition disappoints me. I like the idea of this scrapped NPC being a spooky occurrence, but the second the words, "Dead Nintendo employee" came up, my interest immediately died. It'd be nice to see the idea of a ghost woman used for a creepy new side quest, though, perhaps hidden in the future Hyrule Castle town.
This is a great vid. But man, there are so many strange inferences in video game trivia videos! "The N tokens were the same color as rupees, so they were most likely intended to be an alternate form of currency." Like what???
I think the Aria AI thing is complete creepypasta. That's the first time I've heard about the Ganon only truly dying in V1.0 due to blood color, and though I understand the theory I think it's complete garbage. Lastly, Panic64 (imo) needs to work on his speaking. He sounded like a highschool student giving a speech. Very monotone, did not stop and pause when needed, and did not articulate words well
"The Aria Apprarition" section, intentional or not, reminded me of the Princess creepypasta. In fact earlier in the video when you were talking about Aria I was wondering if the Princess was gonna get a nod.
Someone probably already said this but the theory goes that the gaurd in the building with all the pots becomes the Poe collector. When you talk to him he says “I wish there were ghosts or something” Then in the same place 7 years later there’s a Poe collector there. The gaurd became the Poe collector. Also I never noticed the upside down Triforce it makes sense why there were theories about the middle piece of the triforce being a thing Mirinda was like a got milk commercial similar to Mario’s except it’s about a soda called Mirinda.
Happy you kinda skipped the made up one just for the iceberg. The other ones draw their strength partially from being old/well known. Then again, new theories are always welcome and should be encouraged, but the Aria apparition just seems too forced. Good video, love to see more!
Honestly, Aria Apparition seemed like a good idea up until the Presence In The Forbidden Build part. That was when it really just turned into a ripoff of the Mario 64 iceberg.
@@LeDingueDeJeuxVideos Which one? The SM64 one, or the Aria one? If we're going with the former, then it's because SM64 _does_ have an unnerving, dreamy quality about-- Especially Wet-Dry World, which just has this... empty, confused, almost beta-test feel to it. Acknowledging that resonates with alot of people, especially as it does have the reputation of being a childhood game for so many (myself included!). It's also a sort of homage to the creepypastas of old, combined with the recent surge of interest in beta content. That being said... there were honestly points where that shit got tired, too. Even worse, it ended up drowning out actual beta-content in favour of clickbaity horror shit, which is just... beyond frustrating. As for Aria? Lmao, who knows. But yeah, I feel you.
9:23 Nintendo actually addressed this rumor! In super smash bros melee, the redead trophy states that Link initially thought the redeads were the inhabitants of castle town, but later learned that they had all escaped and survived. Obviously this was written sometime after the game, so who knows what the original intent was?
Ok I think the closest thing we can get to "[blank game copy] is personalized are procedurely generated worlds within games like Minecraft, no man's sky etc. Go further with this idea I guess could be the way certain things spawn outside of scripted events like certain cars in GTA games or what loot you find in other games being so random I guess you could think of it as personalized to that player.
It's so funny that people actually make "creepypastas" about AI's placed in a nintendo 64 cartridge, when humanity is around 600 years away from having actual AI's.
The N-Coins were 100% not intended as a different kind of currency. They remind me of the nintendo coin in DK 64, the colours of the coin also match the colours of the n64 logo. I don't know how you come to assume it could have been used as a different type of currency as there already have been 4 zelda games before oot which not even remotely tried to introduce new currency as oppose to rupees like that, it would be awkward.
Personally the bit where it developed it's own ai was what did it. The next bit that you mentioned was like the final nail in the coffin. Could have just left it as an unused asset you can accidentally spawn in through obscure means that no one can really trace. It could be creepy yet believable if they dialed back the supposed behavior and just gave it broken dialog or animations. Maybe allude to a supposed side quest where Aria would have followed you to explain some spookier behavior.
I honestly had no idea, and I didn't really know what to say when writing that part. In retrospect, it might be because Dampé turns into a normal ghost instead of a Poe after he dies.
So happy to finally see this. I actually fully completed this game again a few weeks ago, and I feel you do these icebergs in some of the best ways. Btw upsidedown triforce = Lorule I also agree with the change in tone but I'd really like to see you retry this with a better pace and iceberg chart. Ocarina of Time has amazing potentional.

@Ah vamo nessa - yeah but I don’t think you understood, the author mixed up the two games, it’s not bringing attention to it, it’s just a mistake
I thought Talon was the one who people thought was alcoholic. Strange.

The co-host sounds like a 14 year old who didn't prepare for his history presentation.

It sounds like he’s projecting his words from his soft palate or something. Very congested.

Yeah, kind of took me out of the feel of the video. Public speaking my friend!
🤣🤣🤣
I agree
Big agree, the casual tone was a big part of what made me like the previous one so much.
i also agree because everybody else said they agreed
I think he makes it work either way Honestly.
@@lemmingscanfly5 I agree, although I didn't know the icebergs originated on 4chan years ago (it doesnt surprise me tho)

You got to love just how polarized the intro to this and the Mario 64 iceberg are.
"Like I don't need to explain what an iceberg imagine is"
"Like holy shit this went viral, and what I took as common knowledge is actually super niche and now I have literally millions of people asking me to explain what an iceberg image is."
In any event, good stuff man.
Yeah, its stupid creepypasta BS. Its lazy.

This is what I thought you'd do next, i love seeing your takes on these theories

Cultural sensitivity aside, I'm kinda glad they swapped it out lol

I think that Aria is the mother of Oot Link, because of the cinematic after the deku tree sprout, where she will give baby Link to the forest.
However, this cutscene was never made or changed to the only fire one, to give more dramatic weight to the fact they were in war times.

the part about Marlon being an alcoholic I think I understand, as all the manora's mask characters are mirrored versions of another dimension of their counterparts in hyrule, Cremia and Romani having this involvement with alcoholic beverages, may mirror that their version in hyrule Malon, there are also these involvement with alcohol manifested by Romani's desire for alcoholic beverages. (anyway I doubt anyone read this a year after the video was released lol!)
The CEO of iceberg theories is back!

Yeah, agreed. I'm all for creepypastas, but forcing Mario 64 into it-- especially Wet-Dry World --made me lose any suspension of disbelief.
Honestly, Aria Apparition seemed like a good idea up until the Presence In The Forbidden Build part. That was when it really just turned into a ripoff of the Mario 64 iceberg.
@@ScrawnyTreeDemon I'm all for GOOD creepypasta, and I know that's mostly subjective, but does anyone really think this one has any value?
@@LeDingueDeJeuxVideos Which one? The SM64 one, or the Aria one? Acknowledging that resonates with alot of people, especially as it does have the reputation of being a childhood game for so many (myself included!). It's also a sort of homage to the creepypastas of old, combined with the recent surge of interest in beta content.

Wow that Aria apparition pasta was hard to listen to
The aria aperition thing was semi plausible until the "died of a heart attack & put in the game" thing.
The king has returned back to his throne
The Aria Apparition was so badly constructed I had 2nd hand emberessment for the unknown author.
