I love giant sensors and phaseone or leaf digital backs with alpa camera body is just unbelievable for architecture. fuji is an affordable compromise quality/price.
Personally I'm still in love with my xt2 and viltrox 33 1.4 combo, monkey recommended. Still makes me smile every time I pick it up. The 100s would be amazing to own but for me it won't pay for itself, even though I'm sure it's a joy to own and use.
@@PunjabiGymBeats you won't believe it, but instead of selling my Nikon d700, i purchased another one, with very low sbutter count. So as work horses I have those two D700, and the GFX100s for max quality pics.
Nice overview, Ken. One correction: The triaxial screen is not the same as the one on the X-T3 (or the X-T2 or X-H1). You can actually flip the 100 S screen down into the horizontal position and then pull it back so that the eye cup on the viewfinder is not in your sight lines when looking straight down onto the LCD screen. This is a GREAT improvement that overcomes one flaw in these other cameras. I’m sure I’m not the only person who had pestered the Fuji reps repeatedly about this oversight.
Ken. What are the viewfinders like to use on these. I loved the High Eye-point finder on my Nikon F3hp because I wear glasses. The usual viewfinders require squashing your glasses up to them to get a full field of view, which eventually mars the spectacles.. Sure I have a flip out screen, but I prefer the more personal view through a viewfinder. Are these on the GFX series bigger than a full frame camera? Thanks in advance - Trevor
That is amazing. I was thinking of comparing it to my D850. I am surprised to see it compare to the D500. It looks like an amazing camera. We can get all this image quality in such a small package. Is it as heavy as a D850? Is there any EVF lag with this camera?
Ken, which lens would you suggest to do reproduction work with the GFX100S? Talking of stuff like art paintings 8x10 inch up to 2 x 3 metres (about 2 x 3 yards).
I'm genuinely interested in a comparison of the sensors between the 50R and the 100S. Everything in sensor development to date points to the belief that as density increases performance drops, especially in noise control. The 100S has a lot I would like to have in a MF body but I'm worried that if I traded in my 50R to have one I would be disappointed with the IQ. The IQ from the 50R is drop dead gorgeous. Photos have fantastic saturation, luminance and a 3d look not unlike Leica cameras. Is the IQ on the 100S the same or better?
But what I don't understand, if the sensor size is so big, is the compute part still so underdeveloped to proccess the data? Or is it the storage acces part to get the next bottleneck ? Eg into get a wildlife speed pictures , love your reviews cheers
I have nothing bad to say about Phase One, Hasselblad or Leica (big Leica fan). But how are they going to compete with this? Mind you Leica and Hasselblad do have leaf shutter lenses.
I would wait for the next version of this camera with the overheating problems and pixel banding problems fuji need time to fix this. Also slow focus maybe the sony A1 would be a better choice right now
The GFX100S sounds incredible! The Jumbo Shrimp camera looks wonderful! I’m looking forward to learning all about the camera! This camera sounds like a real game changer! Please test the hell of of the camera this weekend with all your lenses! want to know the positives and negatives of this Jumbo Shrimp machine! From the 10,000 foot level this looks and sounds like the camera that I have been wanting! Looking forward to your full test results!
Hi Ken. Ive been telling my wife for years and years this is the last camera ill ever need, that's bout 6 cameras ago. ~I think the 100S really will be my last .
I said the same thing when I purchased my last film camera in about 1989 and here we are many cameras later. The 100S appears amazing so far. I am looking forward to how things go as Ken puts it through its paces and this might truly be my last camera as well.
Hi Ken. Amateur photograher here.. just wondering what Fuji body would you recommend that is value for money right now? I watched one of your videos and you mentioned that the new bodies aren't all that, and that left me confused. Thanks for this review btw!
@@KenTheoriaApophasis hi thx for the reply.. i like to shoot landscapes/cityscapes.. budget wise i'm not too sure yet.. as long as it's not leica pricey i guess
I've only paid 4500$ for this camera. A big photography store did a mistake and charged me less. I don't know man... I mean i feel kind of bad, but 1500$that i could spend on a lens, computer and what not. Hmmmmm🤔
Have you heard about gear acquisition syndrome ?
I hope they will shrink the GFX50R. That is the one I want.

Amazing how much work they put into getting metal to look and feel like plastic.
Thr gfx 100s and the Nikon D700, which I own both , are my two favorites. And coming from the GFX 50r, is saying a lot.

i wear glasses too, these are the best EVF/viewfinders ive ever used , i love em ......just as big as on the XT4, which is the largest already

the 45 2.8 is the closest but there is no ideal repro lens for that, the 32 64 would actually work best, but youd need to do post correction

no, the noise is better cause its a new tech, a BSI sensor
yes, theres no denying the 50R is epiccccccc

Hope there will be R model fuji stile dials ( no PASM) ,one hand operation and slightly bigger then xpro.I would buy it in hard beat.

The Hassys have way better ergos, UIs and build quality. Just no comparison in that regard. It is like SONY vs Nikon in usability and operation.

no,,,,, no connectivity for that
