Hey there! Was recently recommended this video by the algorithm. I'm pretty impressed that this is only your first video - the production value and quality of information provided is stellar. I look forward to seeing more from you!
One of my favorite clicker games is Universal Paperclips because it has not just a narrative, but an actual narrative conclusion. It's a game that's kind of haunting in a way when you get to that final stretch. I also think a really big key for a good clicker game: Sheer Audacity. Developers acknowledging how large and ridiculous these numbers are getting by responding with continuously more ridiculous concepts for generating these numbers. The way these upgrades in Cookie Clicker get described are a good example. Sure you start out just clicking a cookie and paying grandmas to bake more, but what got me to keep going was seeing just how absurd these things got. Cookie banks with their own stock market, cookie alchemy that , cookie antimatter reactors that are staffed by antigrandmas that vomit cookies at you, cookie probability alterators... It was a riot seeing what the next step in the chain was.
Had to say I didn't expect to watch a 30 minute vid about a guy explaining Idle games but it was so immersive how he explained them I didn't even think about the time and he truly explained it well👍🏼
Same here - and I really don't get the appeal of these games. Perhaps I'm not exactly the target group, but it's not like with other games that I don't like, where I can just shrug it off as different taste, clicker or "idle" games are really absurd concept for me. Yet the video was interesting.
So... I'm listening to this while playing an idle game and right when you said "(...) realizing it was 2:30 and I still hadn't gone to sleep." at 27:25 I looked at the time and it was exactly 2:30.... that kinda creeped me out... (also you made me revisit a game I haven't played in about a year)
Once every few weeks or so me and my friends will go on roblox and play some of the top tycoon games. We've played hundreds of these games throughout the years, the best ones are the ones that allow us to kill other players. We've only ever completed 3 or 4 tycoons but it's always been "our thing". I wasnt aware how vast and complex this genre of gaming was outside our roblox tycoons and cashgrab mobile games. While i dont think anything will beat roblox's multiplayer pvp clicker games i'd like to thank you for introducing me to a whole genre of gaming i didnt know i enjoyed.
my favorite clicker game is A Dark Room tbh. the aesthetic is nailed, there's a lot to do, and i feel a real sense of progression as you get more upgrades and such. my only complaint about it is that it feels way to slow at times. blush blush and crush crush are both also really good! they handle ascension really well with reset bonuses. those are 18+ though... they also basically require autoclickers.
Because of your this video i thought "Hey, i feel like playing something brainless and something does require very little effort". So i downloaded clicker heroes on steam, turns out i've played it for 13minutes like few years ago and i had insane amount of gold stocked up, LOL. That made it fun :D
Realm Grinder is one of the best out there, great variation of choices within each run, different ways to increase the benefit of the "ascension", and the ascension idea itself is layered which allows for far more content as well. Definitely recommend checking it out.
27:40 Yeah no. That's just a cash grab from some other ppl that just copied cookie clicker. The actual guys from Cookie Clicker are working on a mobile version rn tho and a Beta is out too.
@@CarlsCozyCorner The original Cookie Clicker is from Orteil. He made it. The mobile version you were playing is from RedBit Games, which is a completely different company actually based in Italy. No connection what so ever. I said myself, that Orteil is making his own mobile game version of the game, which is in Beta still (I think). edit: I just looked it up and ig now they're called Tiny Games. Tiny Games made the fake mobile version, while Dashnet (Orteils Website/company) is making the real Cookie Clicker App and Website.
My favorite Clicker Game is "A Girl Adrift" where the main thing that drives the player is not stronger items but the story. Every boss beaten unlocks new lore and a brand new boss who has at least 3x the health of the last one. It can run automatically for grinding but the Boss Fights ultimately require player interaction because no matter how much you auto grind, the game could not beat the bosses on its own. The game is super hard though and I really only made it halfway and never truly beat it.
this is an AMAZING first video! I figured it'd be one in a long (at least 15 episode) series of game genre videos, based on the quality, and clear amount of effort that went into this video! I eagerly await the potential for a series!
I would add Idle to rule the gods (a game with a story parodying isekai and anime but surprisingly entertaining), candybox 2 (a game that start with a single button and end up as a full rpg), space plan (with the silliest story starring an IA obsessed with potatoes) and universal paperclip
Man, I clicked on your channel hoping to watch some more of these, I loved this so much! I can't wait to see! Also, Kitten's Game is one I want to talk about. It's very complicated - often called the dark souls of incremental games. You have to manage an incredible amount of things as the game progresses, but it introduces it all with a nice pace. The game lacks overbearing tutorials too, and you find yourself having to figure stuff out on your own sometimes, which I love. Any incremental game where I can mess up bad enough that all of the workers producing my resources as I'm idle end up dying due to my own incompetence is great - you don't get a huge attachment to them but it feels bad and the tension rises, you have to be super careful with what you do here or you risk a huge disaster.
Another good one is universal paperclips. It's really short for an incremental gane ( like maybe 8 hours) But really fun because because it doesn't have long wait times if you are playing well.
I didn't really like a dark room. The ending felt more anticlimactic after you worked hard enough to pass the asteroids. Even if there wasn't going to be more after I feel like they could have ended it differently
The Candy Box series and A Dark Room are honestly my favourites. They have some sort of story to them that keeps me interested and enjoy them that much more than Clicker Heroes
Why is nobody talking about the fact that this guy went from having zero subscribers to having over *twenty-six THOUSAND* subscribers in just two years?! That's fantastic progress dude, holy donkey balls!
Well, I wouldn't call it "fantastic" progress. Just progress. It isn't the beginning of RUclips in year 2006 anymore, where 26k is a big number. You can't really be a full time RUclipsr with those numbers. More than 230k RUclipsrs have more than 100k Subscribers. And more than 22k RUclipsrs have more than 1m Subscribers. The Channel "Beluga" for example released his first video 5 months ago, didn't really make videos for 3 months, made videos for 2 months actively and reached 2.62 million subscribers already. At the moment he gains at average 50k new ones daily. THAT is fantastic progress ^^ I guess luck is a big part of it too. Not every channel can explode that mindblowingly. But consistency is often key on RUclips too. There are a few channels that uploaded for years before their channel went viral and the numbers soared. So if Reality Escape keeps on producing such good videos he might reach a few million subscribers sooner rather than later too. 🍀👌
Hmm a few years ago, I played Swarm Simulator: Evolution and when you where talking about swarm Simulator it was triggering all my memories of playing it. It's essentially just like swarm Simulator but with a pretty paint job.
The ones I had the most fun with are not exactly "clickers" (but they definitely are idle/incremental games): - universal paperclips: this one is actually very short compared to standard idle games. The prestige system is not very interesting and stopping when you reach it is satisfying. It also has quite a deep meaning. - sandcastle builder: this one is weird. It is uneccessarily complicated and sometimes painfully slow but has many paradigm shifts. Not for everyone because of its weirdness. - kittens game: develop you civilization, with kittens instead of humans. Has a nice timing and many twists.
+1 for Universal Paperclips. The meaning behind it is something I feel a lot of people don't fully grasp. It's about the risks of artificial intelligence. It's also very fun, and it's one of the few games in this genre where I felt satisfied by the end. You can prestige as much as you want, and it's fun to play again, but not as addictive.
Hey, just wanted to say thanks for including the game grindcraft. Im a beta tester and developer for jetspice *the lead developer* we got a huge expansion for the game thats going to include a ton of new things. Only thing i request that these games are linked into the description, as most of the websites that grindcraft is on, put it on them without permission causing us not to receive ad revenue. The only validated version of grindcraft currently is on kongregate, and the download release on our website.
Great video. Especially your conclusion. It's not more then a few days, since I made most of your conclusion comments to a friend. I to have played these games for many years. It was kind of refreshing to hear, that I'm not the only one having trouble, even trying a new one, for a short while.
Some recommendations that weren't mentioned in the video: Antimatter Dimensions Realm grinder NGU Idle Idling to rule the gods Trimps Mine defense All of these are great idle games that unlock more features as you go on.
the only exception where I'd actually recommend someone playing is universal paperclips. it's an incremental clicker but there is plot behind it and it ends after a few days. excellent game
Humans do love progress and optimization. Give me a bar to fill or a number that grows and it will be done. Let me make it go faster or do itself and I will.
This was absolutely amazing. I was so shocked to discover that this was your first video. If this is the kind of quality content you made on your first video, I can't wait to see what your 100th video is like. I subbed and liked. It is only a matter of time before you hit 100,000 subscribers!
I have to thank you for this video. I have always play idle and clicker games as a background thing for years. I am a disabled vet who is UA (meaning 100% but unable to make any money working, and they track your social to make sure of that), so I have A LOT of time. I played Clicker heroes for several months and got SUPER far (100's of full resets and high level gods for an idle build), then Tap Titans and Tap Titans 2 for years on and off (currently play regularly and actively), then Cookie clicker for some nostalgia (played it years and years ago, and came back a few months ago, starting from scratch. And now on this set, only recently got to the point where progress is non existent.) I hit the point where it takes a few days to get 1 billion heavenly chips, and I need 30 billion for 2 upgrades that do nothing, and 1 trillion in order to get about 80-100% more gains. I wanted to maybe start a new game (while checking in on Cookie Clicker now and again), so I started Swarm Simulator 2 (off your recommendation/review of the original), and I am LOVING it. I have not even ascended for the first time, and I already know that I will be sinking most of my time into progressing in this game. Not too many idle games use "Units that create other units that create money" , and it makes for a welcomed twist on the genre. I even felt the need to support the creator (only played a single day), which really does say something about the intrigue brought on by this game. So thank you so very much for bringing this game into a spotlight because it truly is a hidden gem... And thank RUclips for randomly recommending this video to me... I am truly grateful to find another ENJOYABLE time-sink
If you enjoyed all of those games there is one idle game by the name of NGU idle, its a massive time sink and it is pretty enjoyable if you enjoy watching numbers go up
I recently discovered this type of games thanks to cookie clicker game and I loved it. I have been looking for good recommendations and I see that there is a great variety, could you recommend some to start in this type of games? What would be the must play to you?
Such a brilliant video essay! I love the breadth of video games you show - the match of visuals to your voiceover makes it so engaging. You give such a nuanced, articulate description of clicker games! I'm currently addicted to a delightful idle game called Animal Restaurant
For a first video, this is simply amazing and super in-depth. I didn't even realize it was 30 minutes until the end, having a video that can suck a viewer in like that is very rare now adays, great content and I'm definitely subscribing for more!
It's baffling to see how successful your first and only video is... The other comments say everything -- great job on the editing and research bruv. Hope you have the passion and drive to continue making quality content and further improving yourself! 👌❤
I'm surprised you didn't talk about Paperclip game. You make paperclips, taking the role of an AI who ends up consuming the entire universe to make paperclips. The coolest part is that there's only a finite number of clips you can make
One of my personal favorite idle games is idle dice. It’s an idle game that for me has a lot of strategic thought due to the card collecting system. Basically at certain money thresholds you can choose one card of 3 with different effects. After your first run collecting all of them, the ascension system allows you to pick a card to permanently be in your possession. Plus there is a push your luck roulette game as well
One of my all time favourite mobile clicker games is pickcrafter though it may have transitioned slightly from a clicker. Its basically a clicker version of minecraft. It has alot of unique features that no other has, like pickaxes, that instead of just a thing you upgrade to help you click more, are things that actually determine how much you make per click, are all unique and each one might have a slightly special. Another unique thing is that instead of using one currency for everything, everything takes different kinds of blocks, which you need to go to different unlockable biomes to get. Also, imstead of its prestige feature basically making the game easier, it instead gives you a new kind of currency, ender eyes, to spend on completly unique things. Thats only a few of the awsome things that make pickcrafter alot more unique and enjoyable then many others that feel like a grind after a while
My favorite clicker game is exploitable money. Because im a sucker for story and macabre story at that. Which isnt rlly smth most ppl look for in a clicker game. Plus the creator is one of my favorite storytellers! He really knew how to make people feel something (rip ❤️)
I love your creative decisions; black and white, have a gradient as a background. Not to exclude from ur explaining and editing and story telling skills tho!
I'm so glad I found this video, and I'm so glad you understand why clicker games are inherently fun, progression. If you're anything like me try antimatter dimensions, it has held that urge for so long I have a hard time finding that urge in other games.
The interesting thing is that cookie clicker actually has storyline. Written on the blue sign, lies everything that is happening each time you produce an amount of cookies.
I don't want to admit how much time I've sunk into Soda Dungeon. The discord server is full of people like me that have gone millions of levels in, and beyond. Actually now that I've seen your Clicker Heroes account I don't feel so bad
The clicker Hero guys had a multiplayer rpg game using the same art before clicker heros rtook offf, and now it's gone so that makes me sad as, it's a cute arststyle and i liked dressing up my pc in pretty gear.
Cookie clicker is just amazing. So many varied upgrades and building so many end game strategies and mini games like the garden, stock market, pantheon and grimoire. There is way too much to list, I never feel bored while playing.
My first introduction to idle games was when Markiplier played "Blush Blush" and, as a fully grown woman, I paid for the voice acting update. And no, I'll never be ashamed of that of that fact.
Me having just stopped playing an idle game on my phone to browse RUclips at 2:30am and coming across this video…I feel called out, but also like this is a good wake up call too. Idle games/clicker games really do suck you in! And there are plenty of other types of games out there to play instead. But there is something so satisfying about a lot of these idle games. Really great video, and awesome job for this being your first ever video! Obviously it’s four years after the fact now, but still really commendable and the video does hold up!
Man, hit a nostalgic note and rewatched the whole video again. For the first video it really feels like it already is a timeless piece of art. It also hits different, when you consider how much the idle genre evolved, like the game I already mentioned to you on stream one time. Really looking forward towards your next big documentary, but no pressure there. Until then, see you in the next video or stream GB. Whatever comes first ;)
@ The character he's censoring is named Diath. Diath's character was played by projared in a real life game and the character was completely removed and replaced after that fiasco. This video was made during said fiasco.
Look at that almost academic thesis, the clear work and effort that went into the script, the subtle fun background music to set the mood and tone. My God, he even includes game titles in the corner.
I started getting more serious about strategy in my favorite MOBAs, and it's led me on this journey to rediscover what it means to be good at any video game .Not just MOBAs, but also single players games with 'real-time' action or are turn-based. Waiting a year away from a game to return to make an incremental game 'easier' is definitely dumb in the context of idle **strategy** which is similar to that of management games like you smartly pointed out. I used to be a little bit of a gaming masochist, looking for things that are more and more competitive, but now I have a fresh perspective on enjoying games and their strategies thanks to videos like this.
Echoing a couple other people, I am surprised neither Candy Box nor Universal Paperclips was mentioned-Candy Box because it was THE incrementer game when browser-based incrementer games started taking off, and Universal Paperclips as another noteworthy one that builds toward an actual ending (that isn't just running out of things to obtain, and without the ending being incredibly apparent from the start).

Hey there! Was recently recommended this video by the algorithm. I'm pretty impressed that this is only your first video - the production value and quality of information provided is stellar. I look forward to seeing more from you!
Realm Grinder would be worth looking into. Lots of unlock-able content
I was surprised he failed to mention that one. Yes, I've sunk some time into that one.
I really like Realm Grinder. It's a great idle game for players who love secrets and "talent trees".
My comment as well, free on phone and best of all NO ADS
best clicker of all time IMO.
1'145 hours gone on that game alone >.>
I'm a game dev and I need more experience in game design. This is easily a very inspiring and useful video for me!
Terrific work on this video, I was super surprised when I looked at the view count and it was under 100k...
Thank you for the kind words! My goal is to have 100K views on this channel by the end of the year, so a comment like this is very uplifting to see.
I agree- great video for someone with only 246 subs. Really liked the vid.
Wow, I just realized that this was your first vid. Impressive 👍
Truly the best low sub youtuber that I have seen - better than a few that have a million or more subs in my mind
@@RealityEscape hey guys, what´s the music at 13:00 ?
YEARS.
I have been playing realm grinder for YEARS and am still unlocking new mechanics.
This game is *insanity.*

27:40 Yeah no. That's just a cash grab from some other ppl that just copied cookie clicker. The actual guys from Cookie Clicker are working on a mobile version rn tho and a Beta is out too.
I have the cookie clicker official mobile game and it's pretty true to the original. The guys behind it are dope too
@@CarlsCozyCorner Pretty dope to steal someones work, monetise it, make thousands of dollars and don't give any credit or share any money.
@@oliverrepp131 it's made by the same guys dumbass.
lmao
Friend: "it's been two minutes and you dont even have to be here anymore!"
That's halarious
So high quality for your first video! Subbing this instant! I can't believe your not even at 1k yet!
me too
this is an AMAZING first video!
This was a fun discussion to watch! I've been thinking of making a video series a lot like this myself. Nice to find another game connoisseur.
Kittens Game is an Unfolding incremental.
Another good one is universal paperclips.
It's really short for an incremental gane ( like maybe 8 hours)
But really fun because because it doesn't have long wait times if you are playing well.
Universal Paperclips and A Dark Room are both pretty neat, especially dark room
antimatter dimensions is a game you would like
I didn't really like a dark room. The ending felt more anticlimactic after you worked hard enough to pass the asteroids. Even if there wasn't going to be more after I feel like they could have ended it differently
@@sanzonosu6664 JuSt PlAy Antimatter Dimensions Best idle game ever
The Candy Box series and A Dark Room are honestly my favourites. They have some sort of story to them that keeps me interested and enjoy them that much more than Clicker Heroes
I was surprised Candy Box was not mentioned; it feels like one of the ones that deserves a mention in the intro of any video about incrementer games.
THAT is fantastic progress ^^
I guess luck is a big part of it too. Not every channel can explode that mindblowingly.
But consistency is often key on RUclips too. There are a few channels that uploaded for years before their channel went viral and the numbers soared.
So if Reality Escape keeps on producing such good videos he might reach a few million subscribers sooner rather than later too. 🍀👌
@@MasterJohnny007 yup..
Beluga went from 0 to millions in around a week
He can now prestige, make a new channel and start earning subs even faster!
@Zoro i don't wanna lie to the poor man
Hmm a few years ago, I played Swarm Simulator: Evolution and when you where talking about swarm Simulator it was triggering all my memories of playing it.
It's essentially just like swarm Simulator but with a pretty paint job.
It bothers the hell out of me whenever people refer to cookie clicker as "cookie clickers". There is no s
uch thing as a good Cookie Clicker mobile version. They are all trash.
thats what the mobile clone is called.
yeah I hate it so much
me too
who cares
The ones I had the most fun with are not exactly "clickers" (but they definitely are idle/incremental games):
- universal paperclips: this one is actually very short compared to standard idle games.
Ever tried spaceplan?
@@cyankoopa8111 yes. It is nice, but less deep than paperclips imho.
It was kind of refreshing to hear, that I'm not the only one having trouble, even trying a new one, for a short while.
i'm not proud to admit how many times i've rewatched this video.
But i will say, this is a great video. Very informative and well made.
I appreciate it!

Some recommendations that weren't mentioned in the video:
Antimatter Dimensions
Realm grinder
NGU Idle
Idling to rule the gods
Trimps
Mine defense
All of these are great idle games that unlock more features as you go on.
I like antimatter dimensions because of just how many layers of restarting there is.
Mr mine, anyone?
"We're only given a short precious time on Earth my friends, make it count, play some good games." I love that

@@daxmchaffey2540 yeah, pretty good one. AdVenture Capitalist is also good but different
I cant believe this video have < 5k views. It is really good, you explained every perspective in depth. Good job and keep up the good work!
the only exception where I'd actually recommend someone playing is universal paperclips. it's an incremental clicker but there is plot behind it and it ends after a few days. excellent game
Territory Idle is by far my favorite Idle game of all time. Super simple appearance, but just enough depth to keep me engaged over time
Humans do love progress and optimization.
You missed "A Dark Room".
I personally highly recommended "Armory and Machine"
I am surprised you haven't heard of Realm Grinder!
I went to the comments just to mention it!
right? i was waiting the whole video for him to talk about realm grinder
Plus there is a push your luck roulette game as well
This has such a high production value compared to the size of your channel. Great job, dude. Hope you’ll keep going. You’ve just earned a sub
You might like "A dark room". It's the best "clicker" game that I have played.
Yeah it's pretty good. My favourite bit is that it takes only a few hours to beat. It tells a story through monotony and it's really cool.
Thats only a few of the awsome things that make pickcrafter alot more unique and enjoyable then many others that feel like a grind after a while
It's shocking this is a first video, totally caught me by surprise
My favorite clicker game is exploitable money.
Because im a sucker for story and macabre story at that. Which isnt rlly smth most ppl look for in a clicker game.
Plus the creator is one of my favorite storytellers! He really knew how to make people feel something (rip ❤️)
who was the creator?
Man, you absolutely need to play ‘Universal Paperclips’! Without question the best incremental game.
19:11 I was just listening to this in the background when I heard "dungeons and dragons" and immediatly looked at my phone
Kinda wish universal Paperclips was mentioned but hopefully someone reads this and plays it
Amazing video dude! I'm happy youtube decided this is what I need for tonight :D Keep up the good work!
Actually now that I've seen your Clicker Heroes account I don't feel so bad
don't worry 2 is coming soon.
The clicker Hero guys had a multiplayer rpg game using the same art before clicker heros rtook offf,
and now it's gone so that makes me sad as, it's a cute arststyle and i liked dressing up my pc in pretty gear.
Cookie clicker is just amazing. So many varied upgrades and building so many end game strategies and mini games like the garden, stock market, pantheon and grimoire. There is way too much to list, I never feel bored while playing.
This is one hell of a first video, awesome job man.
I followed your post on r/incremental_games and arrived here. Very cool video!
Can't wait for your next videos.

@ The character he's censoring is named Diath. Diath's character was played by projared in a real life game and the character was completely removed and replaced after that fiasco. This video was made during said fiasco.
I have NEVER seen an idle games review that even mentionned Anti-Idle the game. :(

HI JAMES
HI
I didn't realize cookie clicker changed so much in such a short time
