midwest wisconsin skier. 5'10" intermediate borderline advanced. currently rocking a 2024 declivity 92ti that ive loved for 2 seasons now and a mirus cor . i think its a perfect 2 ski quiver for wisconsin conditions
I’m pro 2-ski quiver too and have two of them, one kept in Denver with son for Western skiing, and one with me in Michigan for the East (MI & VT). Out West I have 90 & 104s, and for the East I have 82 & 98s. All Freeride designs, adv/exp, love steeps and bumps (don’t ski or land switch). This covers pretty much everything for me. I do have some 112s w rotation 14s for pow and touring to pow .
That's a smart Quiver! It's funny how the width of different skis can vary in performance based on the shape. Maverick 88 vs 95 is pretty similar where as Kore 87 vs 93 felt very different
Happy New Year! A (sort of) new years story : as a clueless snowboarder choosing skis for my daughter i binged watched your channel to learn about what skis to buy… got myself interested in skis, how they flex and work, and decided to work on my skiing in an indoor slope - I did my first parallel turns three days ago… skiing is so fun!
That's a funny coincidence. Last year was my first year skiing and the mirus cor and atris (with pin bindings) was my ski quiver. I found some good deals on the off season and added a sakana, Nordica unleashed 98 and bent 110. All of them ski so different from eachother so it's been nice to switch up my ski style
Happy new year hope you’re 2025 is great. I am rockin 2023 K2 mind benders 89ti’s for my everyday ski mostly on piste, and Bent 110s for the pow days love them both for what I use them for. My brother just picked up some Maverick 88ti’s and he loves them as well. I’m in Idaho and the snow is flying. Have a great one!
Happy new year Elliot! Thank you for the effort you put into your reviews. I know you like black crows, you need to get on a pair of Serpos’ love them for my daily driver in western Montana. Love the way they carve on packed powder, took them out today in fresh snow(8 to 10 inches) and they ripped easy to turn and very stable. Busting through chopped up stuff would love to hear your opinion. Thanks again for all your info!
Hi Elliott, Happy New Year and thanks for responding to my comment. To your question, I have 4 ski quiver for the East Coast: Rossi Signature Palmares 74mm - hard pack/ ice Atomic Maverick 88/95 ti - MGG and off piste. 88ti - default. 95ti after a snowfall. K2 Mindbender 99 ti - Crud buster/ Wet snow or slush. Spring skiing conditions I ski 90% groomers - 10% glades or natural snow runs. The resorts in my area mostly run on MGG with a hard pack base. I recognize I don’t really need that many skis for the east coast. If I were to pair it down to a 2 ski quiver, I’d run with the Maverick 88ti and Mindbender 99ti. I appreciate the advice on the limitations of the Maverick line as it relates to spring conditions.
Hi Rickety Ski Reviews, I'm 16 years old, 5'7" tall, and weigh 140 pounds. I consider myself an intermediate skier and I'm looking to improve my skills and expand the terrain I ski on, particularly exploring more powder and crud. I typically ski at Whistler, as well as local mountains like Grouse and Cypress, where conditions often involve lots of crud and sometimes icy terrain. A couple of skis that have caught my eye are the Nordica Enforcer 94 and the Nordica Enforcer 99. I’d love to get your input on the key differences between the two and how each would perform in the conditions I typically ski. If you could also recommend a couple of other skis that might fit my needs, I’d really appreciate it! Another question i have is if there is a big difference between different ski boots and bindings, and if you could recommend a couple to me :) Thanks for your help, Skyler
when people talk about doing moguls, my experience is that i like to be on a flexible ski.. one that can absorb the moguls.. i used to use my old straight skis after they lost their camber.. it is kind of different with the shorter shaped skis.. i haven't quite figured it out.. i took mantra 102 in the bumps.. and they floated well and they were damp but yes they are beefy.. back in the straight ski era the volkl that i had the tails were so stiff that when they finally flexed those skis threw me.. as far as Atomic in the moguls, i would think the Bent 90s would do the best in the moguls.. i am also 5.9 so people that are taller can probably flex some of the skis without having the reactivity.. so anything around that 90 waist width like KORE or QST.. i haven't skied the Elans but it sounds like the Black verses the Green is that the Black has more carbon and would be more stiff/reactive which would compare it to the QST and KORE.. My Stormrider 88s have a minimum speed limit so if the runs are full of people and I have to go slow I struggle.. That is probably where the Maverick TI would be better.. If the runs are crud because people skied it out and at slow speed maybe the Maverick TI is better.. At faster speeds Stormrider works great.. I would think that downsizing the width into the Montero line would actually struggle in the crud..
@ricketyskireviews keep up the good work. One topic I would like a slightly deeper explanation on in a future vid is what are all the factors that contribute to making a ski catchy in the spring skiing conditions. I have heard you give mini-explanations which I assume only partially explain what makes a ski catchy (horizon tech is catchy, wax helps, etc). Does ski weight (and skier weight) make a difference. What specific factors in the ski profile will make a ski catchy, rocker? Camber? Waist width? Top/tail width? Dampness? Last season I had a couple days on my Blanks where patches of snow would cause major slowdowns that were quite annoying, even painful. I was loosing my balance quite easily when I hit different patches of snow. Was thinking a more narrow ski would make a difference but honestly I don’t know. Anyway maybe it is a small topic you can fit in sometime.
Howdy, I bought my first set up since high school in 2019 and I think I did a pretty good job with the variety that's out there. But something feels off this year. For reference I ski in New England, mainly vermont (Stowe, okemo, snow, magic, Stratton). I love tree skiing. Current set up is elan ripstick 96, dalbello (sorry if that's spelled wrong) Pantera 90. Since I got this gear, I have become a more aggressive skier and I have gained about 30 lbs of dad weight. I ski all move the mountain, love to lay down carving turns, ski bumps, trees, and hit jumps. I have noticed that my heal has started to come up when I load the front of my boots. And I don't feel as stable as I use too. Is this a product of my weight gain or just the age of my boots? Do you think new stiffer boots would help me? Will stiffer boots hinder me in the trees? I come from a Nordic background and I've always thought I should need stiff boots. But I also don't know what I'm talking about. Thanks
The only thing I don't live about the ripsticks is the smeedlimit for carving. The tips start to shake. But I feel like they do everything else well enough.
I’m not a Bootfitter but that sounds like your ski boot lining is packing out. When this happened to me I didn’t toss the boots, I worked with my Bootfitter and got zipfit liners and will have them fitted to the boots, as they last for an incredibly long time.
hey Elliott Happy New Year I was skiing at Tremblant Quebec Canada over the holidays and I noticed majority of people were using on piste or race skis I noticed everyone talks about wider skis but what is your opinion on skinny skis I'm thinking of adding Elan primetime 33 to my quiver to which I have Elan 82 Ti Elan ripstick 96 black edition and Elan rip stick 102 and yes I,m a Elan fan
The Mirus Cor is the best ski going right now. I’m also the best skier on every mountain so you should immediately take my word for it and go buy a pair. If you’re the type of skier who thinks they are awesome because they used to race and make the same turn down the mountain every run this ski is not for you. However, if you like having fun and skiing like a Ferrari while jumping off every side hit and throwing backies off cat tracks you have found your ride. If I’m planning on going to hyperspace I’m on the Deathwish 104, for all else it’s the Mirus Cor.
Meh. Not sure Ripstick is best choice for piste oriented skiing. I like the Volkl Mantra 88 idea. And he is above Intermediate level so he should have no issues driving that ski. The key is he wants mostly piste with some off piste capabilities. Mantra all day long over the Ripstick for his needs, size, and ability.

Mine is 2020 Corvus in 184 and 2025 Octo in 179. Love them both! Demoed Mirus Cor a couple years ago, but prefer Octo.
The old Corvus has been one of my main skis for a while, but god damn is it starting to tire me out in the moguls after these years haha
@ Ha ha, me too! That’s why I’m loving the Octo!

Thanks for the response buddy! what bad weather ski would you add to the Mirus cor and Atris quiver?
Depends on your taste, but I love the M7 Mantra, Stockli Stormrider, and Nordica Enforcer 99 (2025 and newer)
@@RicketySkiReviews By bad weather do you mean freezing cold and icy or too warm and slushy? Thanks pal!

Happy New Years Everyone, appreciate you guys watching in 2025!
Happy new year!
Can you explain more about what the horizon tech gets caught up?
yeah, totally, I'll address it in my next video so keep an eye out!

Don't hear much reference to Rossignol skis. How does their "all mountain" or "freeride" skis fit into these usual options discussions?
So what skis would you recommend for heavy, wet snow? Last year I was skiing Blaze 94 and they were like skiing on sand.
I like the Mantra alot as well as the stockli storm rider and Nordica enforcer 2025 and newer

Should be called the $2000, 2 ski quiver.
Excellent comment on the access of skiing in Europe… I couldn’t agree more 😊⛷
