I hope you do this again. I’d love to see you pull out each item and lay them all out. So we can see what all you pack in your under seat bag! I love these kinds of videos
I bought that backpack on your recommendation in a previous video for my 10-day Canadian cruise. It was AMAZING! I didn't have packing cubes so I improvised with gallon freezer bags and I got a hoodie, my weather resistant jacket, denim capris, t-shirt, underwear/socks, mask, pajamas, my phone charger/cord, travel documents, most immediate needed personal care items (cruise ship has shampoo and body wash in the cabin so I didn't even bother taking that stuff, I'm not picky), AND my knitting project I had just started. Still had room for small souvenir swag! Highly recommend this bag. Whomever invented the strap to slip over your suitcase handle was a genius!
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I rolled everything! Consider that I'm also a "person of size" (that's the airline's new politically correct term, I guess) so my clothes are much larger than yours - especially jackets and pants - and I still got all that in the bag.

Oh, and I'm trying to figure out how to bring a hard ball for foot massage/exercise during the flight. I don't want it rolling all over the place like last time! Ooh yes maybe one of those drawstring bags for the ball? I like slippers but not in the bathrooms...I have packed those Hilo Hattie slide on shoes for walking in airplane and lavatory. They have a thicker sole.

Hi Laurie! My husband and I travel often for work and really appreciate your helpful tips. We use the laundry sheets all the time which allows us to pack less for longer trips. THANK YOU for your recommendations on that fanny pack (I call it an ostomy bag cuz it carries my 'shit" but that's some nurse humor I thought I'd share ;)) but also the Xbody bag! I got both for my cruise I just got back from to AK. I used the purse ALL the time (I saw the ostomy bag/fanny pack used by others as well as myself on the ship btw) I followed a few of your other recommendations but I wanted to further recommend and commend you for the bags! THANK YOU again! I'm sooo glad I got them!
Andrea! You’re so funny! It holds so much doesn’t it? But I do love small crossbody bags too! I just got it in black! A viewer suggested a red one for England or Canada
Those laundry sheets are very practical. I have used them twice, once on my trip to Dubai last year and this year when we went to Indiana for a week. The first trip I was able to wash all my undies and bras in the hotel sink. For the trip to Indiana, I was able to wash a whole load of laundry using 7 sheets. Everything came out clean and smelling fresh. We dried everything and came home with no laundry at all!! Ahhh what a relief.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Well, it was in the beginning of Sept, so It was HOT as heck!!! It is a very progressive country, lots of sky high buildings with spectacular architecture. It is more extraordinary when you think that It was built in the dessert. What I enjoyed most what riding in the dessert dunes, we almost turned upside down. Then we learned that our driver started doing this only a few months ago!! Its a place that you should go at least once in your lifetime. Thanks for asking!
Thanks as always for your great tips Laurie! I’m going to Norway next month so I’ll try to get my heavy sweater into a compression cube for my personal item bag; I won’t need it until we land. Also, I have a similar charging pad that I love-much more convenient than a bunch of tangled cords. Thanks again & have a great time in Canada!
I need a heavy sweater for upstate NY in October. I'm planning to wear it on the plane with a pillowcase in the pocket, then rolling the sweater to use as a pillow while I'm on the plane.
I used this backpack on Spirit as my personal bag. I packed for 4 days at Universal Studio theme park only using this backpack and compression cubes and a Fanny pack which I kind of snuck it on Spirit under my jacket. Worked fabulous. Thank you for this recommendation
Bought your backpack and just took it on it's first trip. Thank you so much!!! It was a game changer!!! I travel quite a bit and never used a backpack. LOVE this one!!! The pockets and size made it so much easier. Thank you!!!
I’ve been binge watching your channel and I appreciate you soooo much. I how now started traveling 1 to 2 times a year for fun and this helped so much. Mom and I went to Cancun and too more then 90 min to get our bags, I’m learning how to do carry on only!!! Thanks again! ❤❤
I can not believe it…. But after watching MANY of your videos I bought a backpack from Amazon. I can not believe it… I BOUGHT THE SAME BACKPACK! It is absolutely AMAZING! So sturdy and so sharp! I ordered in black. If you are thinking about it…don’t. I am so so happy I did not order a TUMI at ten to fifteen times the price!❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
I have precheck, but I always pack liquids in a clear bag like you. We’ve been sent through the standard line or been “randomly” selected for extra screening etc a multitude of times Our local airport chooses not to use their advertised precheck line half the time… one employee told me if I want to use my precheck, I need to fly out of a different airport. 😮
The smaller local airport near me, when they don't have the precheck line open, they give you a card and you're treated like you are in a precheck line.
I got the card thing when I flew out of my home airport (single gate, single security lane, security ends in the boarding area) on Labor Day. First time I'd seen that, but super convenient. Regarding extra screening or the precheck line being closed, that's the reason I'm very grateful that disabled passengers with precheck still get on-person precheck when going through standard security (still have to take things out, though).
I recently came across your channel looking for a carry-on and saw your idea as a backpack and I ordered one. It arrived today and I love it. It will be so nice not to carry a bag on my shoulder and have it on the suitcase strap then use as a backpack. I have been enjoying watching your videos. Learning a lot. Thank you!
I have loved watching your videos so many great tips. I Love Love Love the back pack. Im a Brit living in the US. Heading on a trip to the UK for my birthday ( first time in 25 years I'll be in England for my Birthday).I decided to trat myself to new luggage etc. I was in the UK 3 years ago. My parents and family still live there. Your travel tips have helped my ADHD brain be more organized. I'm already packed and I'm not leaving for 2 weeks. Love your travel wardrobe ideas too.
Hi Laurie👋🏼 You are the best! I love watching your videos. I use many of your tips when fly. I went to Spain last year. Before I went, I found your RUclips channel and was so pleased. YOU ARE A ROCK STAR OF TRAVEL! 🤘🏼
Love your videos. I can't afford to travel by plane anymore so I go by car. I still use your packing tips tho. I'm a retired teacher with over 30+ yrs of experience & I've never heard the term fold like a taco or a hotdog. It would work tho. Thanks.
Just got back from two weeks in Europe, it was very helpful having everything at the ready going through TSA, it made it easy. I also used compression cube, they are great.
About the medicines, since I take many of them, taking all the bottles is too bulky; what I take is what I need of each + a couple more doses in case of delays, put them in pill baggies, and take the printout that the pharmacy gives with the prescription, it contains a physical description of the pill, my info, my pharmacy and my dr’s info, and it takes no space!
My last couple trips I decided to pack my meds in snack size ziplocs instead of bringing all of the bottles, and it not only meant that I didn't need an extra bag for medical stuff (good thing, because it wouldn't have fit on my wheelchair - I only have room for a carryon suitcase on the front and a backpack on the back), but it also meant I had/will have that space free on the way home. Because I've gotten stuck overnight in layover cities on the way home in the past, I always pack enough for the number of days I'll be gone plus one more day, just in case (I pack the first 7 days in my pill box, since the box takes up the same amount of space regardless of whether it's empty or full). I found that writing the date on each bag made it easier for me to keep track, especially if there were one or more meds I didn't have quite enough of for the entire trip and needed to get more of. When I take the last batch of meds each day, I just take the next bag and use it to refill that day's box for the following week (so the boxes stay full). Even though I'm travelling domestically (I'm actually on a trip right now), because this time I'll be bringing back a bulk shipment (sort of - it's technically 30 days' worth, but it's still a lot b/c it's 32 capsules a day, and they're not small) of one med that wouldn't have arrived to my house before I left (had it shipped to where I'm staying), I took the prescription label off the container they came in (the container is huge - almost the size of a number 10 can) and stuck it to a ziploc (I also put the capsules in ziplocs) that I'll tuck in with my meds for the flight home next week, just in case they get at all suspicious about all the capsules in my bag (I'll be putting as many as will fit into my pillbox, since that will be taking up the same amount of space no matter what's in it, and that will mean the capsules will take up a lot less space than they are right now).
Ordered your backpack last night. Can't wait for it to arrive tomorrow! I know I'll test pack it as soon as it gets here even though my next air travel isn't until December.
I have had this same backpack that I have used for my work travels, if not carrying my laptop I fold a rain jacket in a packing cube. My laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad that is very heavy and thick but this bag has held up well.
Oof! Flying with Lenovo ThinkPads, yep, I can relate - so heavy! Mine was so big, I hated having to tote it around, but we were required to bring them to school every day in 11th and 12th grade for one of our classes (they were issued to us by the school, and we weren't allowed to bring a different one), and I didn't get a smaller one until sophomore year of college.
Hey, Laurie! Thank you so much for all of the wonderful tips! Getting ready for a trip to Florence in a few weeks. I have loads of topics/ questions for you. 1. Travel size hair mousse! Hard to find! 2. Cadence liquid containers. Worth it? 3. I saw a personal item bag with a shoe compartment at the bottom. Do you know about this? Compression socks/leggings. Necessary? Thanks again! I ordered your backpack. Can’t wait to get it!
Hi Pat. I am so excited-beautiful views!!! I love Aquage mousse. Cadence seem great but are bulky to me. I do not think the shoe section is necessary but it's not awful. Have so much fun!
As per my medications when I flew in June. I just put them in a pill case as per day. Then I took the labels off the bottles and put them on index cards, and slipped them in my passport holder. So now I have the full ex plus pharmacy name etc.
Just got the same backpack but in the leopard print delivered today thanks to you and your videos! So many pockets, cant wait to use it on my florida trip!
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie i'm so excited. My last travel backpack was a pain as it didn't have a luggage sleeve (and the interior was black). Running through the Las Vegas airport in May was not fun with that backpack. I have also gotten an iFly hardback carry on since then as well as my last carry on was softshell and had an annoying zipper issue! I can't wait to travel now that I've solved these issues! This new backpack is amazing, THANK YOU!
Also that last backpack did not have many pockets... it was horrible, idk what I was thinking! Next thing on my list to purchase are compression packing cubes.. I just have packing cubes but the compression ones seem so much better!!
Great job Laurie! I have watched many of your videos and I must say I appreciate your reasoning behind your choices. This helps more than you know. I gets me to thinking about my choices and what will work best in my situation.
Hi Laurie. I've heard you mention hearing aids several times. Do you have headsets you recommend to wear with behind the ear hearing aids? Thanks so much, I really enjoy your channel!
JUST RETURNED FROM CANADA … Laurie, I followed your suggestion and bought an I-walk compact battery that plugs right into my iPhone. It was perfect for Canada because you were constantly taking pictures and videos so I needed a battery every day. The arriveCAN app worked very well to put your US documents and immunization documents in prior to boarding. I purchased a Baggallini bag years ago, but it has two faults, one it doesn’t have side pockets for-water and and two it didn’t have a trolley bag. Other than that it is a perfect personal item bag. I purchased a purse strap on Amazon and connected to the straps on my bag and it was a perfect trolley strap, helping to keep my bag more secure on my wheeled carry-on. I already posted on another video that on my way home. I got my collapsible hiking poles confiscated because they are not allowed in Canada but they are in the United States. Remember to check TSA rules for all countries you visit.
Go to the canada site and fill out arrive can forms. Have that on your phone as you have to show it prior to getting on the flight into Canada. On the arrive can site you have to prove and show your vaccine card. I am presently in Canada now, just flew in 3 days ago.
As a heads up, because you’re going to Canada. CATSA states that it must be solid at room temperature to be considered a solid. So frozen water is not allowed.
Hi! All links and info is in a paragraph for you just below each video. You just click Show More or Read More. Here it is: bit.ly/3rnqUmR but I bought this one with no bar in the top this Fall and absolutely love it too, but it only has 16 pockets lol: bit.ly/3gddd9o
Thanks for so many great tips! I've watched several of your videos and am taking plenty of notes. We're off to Europe from Australia in July next year. We'll be there for 6 weeks, using planes, trains and cars. Would you suggest one medium suitcase for Hubby and I to share or a carry on suitcase each? Thanks for sharing your wealth of information! :-)
Enjoying your videos and love your tips. I saw on a couple of your videos that you had something clipped to your backpack that attached your jacket to it but I haven't heard you mentioning it... what have you used ecommend? Thanks!
I see that you have an older child. Can you do a video regarding packing with a child? Ie. Does he have a personal item? When did he start carrying his own personal item? I have a 6 & 7 yo and I’ve travelled with them on planes, boats & cars (no trains yet) and I usually have a backpack & checked in luggage (no rolling carry on so I have both hands free for their hands). But I would like to lighten my load and have them carry their own stuff (snacks, toys water bottle). I love your channel. It has helped me fine tune my own traveling hacks.
I used to travel with four kids who were aged within a 5,5 year age-span. They started carrying there own personal item bag from about the age your kids are. After all, they go to school with backpacks (at least mine did) They were packed with the things they might need/want during travelling. This was pre-screen era, so often colouring things, toys etc. We did learn to check their bags though😅 On two occasions we were pulled aside because of (school-)scissors in a bag! Luckily they were too small to be confiscated.
Hi oh yes! It's time, and they will feel so confident after one or two gos. They are allowed the suitcase and backpack. I do have this one that has some tips in it. But their suitcases go up overhead and they get the backpacks. You can also practice pullling out the first thing they will want (electronics and headphones): bit.ly/TravelKidsAirplane
Hi Laurie.. I'm your new sub. Thank you for sharing many valuable tips for flying.. Laurie, can you do tips for traveling with senior please? What to pack (other than meds), that is essentials especially for long flight, please? Or maybe any tips or infos that can help us traveling with senior. Hi, so the tsa.gov site will be wonderful; just scroll to Medical Issues. And I highly recommend this video about a free service from the TSA that gives you and your party your own lane. The video is about autism, but it's all about the free service TSA Cares: bit.ly/TipsTravelAutism
I just bought this back pack and can’t wait to go on a trip w it. I got the bigger one, and might buy the smaller one for me and give the bigger one to husband.
Hi Laurie! I bought the same backpack and love it! Last week traveled to Dallas 🏈 and I recommended your chanel, sharing disinfectant wipes. 😊 Blessings and please give a hug to Aullie.
Laurie, does this backpack have the sleeve/strap thing around the back so that I can slide it over the carry on suitcase handle? I tried to figure it out by watching videos, but with no success. Btw, I love your videos!! Planning a trip and will definitely use a lot of your ideas! 😊
I just returned from Vancouver. I was “selected” for random Covid checking upon entering Vancouver. According to ArriveCan, you should receive an email 15 min. after arriving. I did not receive my email for two hours. 🤦♀️ Please keep checking your email!
The Lovenook backpack seems great, but I wonder why you choose one that is not able to be secured by locks or zipper hooks. That piece makes me feel a bit uneasy when travelling internationally. Just curious?
I also use the wipes for the tray knob and tray, AC knobs, light buttons and window shade grip if I’m by the window. 🙌🏻
I was just about to type those additional things 😁 ….. It only takes a minute and so worth it. Happy Travels
I actually use that kind of soap at national parks in the United States. They do have water but no soap. That kind of soap was a life saver
Oh nice! Yes campgrounds etc would be a smart place to take them...or hiking by a river.
Also wipe the window shades as well the knobs for the a/c heater. With the wipe.

Hi! It's a great way to pack less. How was Dubai??
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Well, it was in the beginning of Sept, so It was HOT as heck!!! It is a very progressive country, lots of sky high buildings with spectacular architecture. It is more extraordinary when you think that It was built in the dessert. What I enjoyed most what riding in the dessert dunes, we almost turned upside down. Then we learned that our driver started doing this only a few months ago!! Its a place that you should go at least once in your lifetime. Thanks for asking!
@@cucar8363 Sounds amazing except the super hot part.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie LOL exactly!!
Oh nice! You could pack it in the outer pocket or just wear it around your waist and stuff it on top of your personal item if you do not like a cube.
I used this backpack on Spirit as my personal bag. I packed for 4 days at Universal Studio theme park only using this backpack and compression cubes and a Fanny pack which I kind of snuck it on Spirit under my jacket. Worked fabulous. Thank you for this recommendation
Oh wow! Did you have the 15.6 size like me or the 17? Great job!
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I used the 17 inch for my Universal trip. But I have the 15 inch for work and everyday use . Love them both
Thank you for the wonderful tips, Laurie. I learn something new on every video.
Bought your backpack and just took it on it's first trip. Thank you so much!!! It was a game changer!!! I travel quite a bit and never used a backpack. LOVE this one!!! The pockets and size made it so much easier. Thank you!!!
Great to hear!
They now make that bag in more colors. I do have that and love it.
I just bought the new one: rstyle.me/cz-n/gz5z9bckgqp
I’ve been binge watching your channel and I appreciate you soooo much. I how now started traveling 1 to 2 times a year for fun and this helped so much. Mom and I went to Cancun and too more then 90 min to get our bags, I’m learning how to do carry on only!!! Thanks again! ❤❤
Way to go!!
Also use anti-bacterial wipes to clean the seat headrest. It’s filthy!
I bought the backpack on your recommendation. Will use it for a flight I have planned in December. It’s very cute!
Oh yay!
Susie, yay you were influenced! But in a good way! So happy for you!
(as a man) electronic gadgets (headphone, phone, tablet or laptop, kindle) +cables, essential medications, toothbrush+toothpaste, eye drop, pen, some easy to eat snacks (usually bought after security)
Y’all have it so easy lol! Thanks for adding your tips!!
Great tips. Thank you.
Oh wow!
The smaller local airport near me, when they don't have the precheck line open, they give you a card and you're treated like you are in a precheck line.
@@Christine-zk6hk Yes, I love it when that happens!
Thank you!
Have fun! It’s so easy to put on your shoulders too!
Yay you get to travel soon! I hope the tips help and have so much fun!
Hi Laurie. Please make some zip front hoodies in your mirch. I love your channel. You teach me so much. 👍🏾🧡
I do love that style too. If I can figure it out, I will.
Hope you have wonderful holiday! 🇨🇦I bought a backpack like yours - I love it.
We cannot wait! Cooler temps!
Thank You Laurie for these great tips. Happy Fall to You and Your Family
Thank you!
I always travel with baby wipes!
Thank you Laurie your tips are always on point! 🥰👍👍
Thanks!
I always put some plastic bags (grocery bags and produce bags) in my carry-on. They are good for garbage and for some kinds of emergencies.
Yes great packing item!
Hi Laurie👋🏼 You are the best! I love watching your videos. I use many of your tips when fly. I went to Spain last year. Before I went, I found your RUclips channel and was so pleased. YOU ARE A ROCK STAR OF TRAVEL! 🤘🏼
Oh wow thanks so much Diana! Ahh to be in Spain again!!
Love your videos. I can't afford to travel by plane anymore so I go by car. I still use your packing tips tho. I'm a retired teacher with over 30+ yrs of experience & I've never heard the term fold like a taco or a hotdog. It would work tho. Thanks.
Woohoo! Enjoy that retirement life! Yes, these tips are great for road trips. Although I ALWAYS overpack for car trips.
I have the green Lovevook backpack. LOVE IT!!! I was able to stuff so much stuff in it when I flew to San Diego back in March. I take it everywhere.
It is my go-to!
I always love your videos and tips. Safe travels. 😎✈️
Thank you!
I love the bag, I got one and packed it for overnight trip to NYC on train.
I just got this and love it!
Would love to see resturant or landmark reviews for all the places you visit.
I am HOPING to do that.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Yay!
Just got back from two weeks in Europe, it was very helpful having everything at the ready going through TSA, it made it easy.
I also used compression cube, they are great.
Glad it was helpful for your trip to Europe! We just came through Calgary, and I was so nervous for some reason lol.
Yes so smart! I have also asked my pharmacist for plasties? The foil type pouches for the pills.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie walmart sells 50 pouches for less than $2, I could fit 30 days worth if medicine in one of them
My last couple trips I decided to pack my meds in snack size ziplocs instead of bringing all of the bottles, and it not only meant that I didn't need an extra bag for medical stuff (good thing, because it wouldn't have fit on my wheelchair - I only have room for a carryon suitcase on the front and a backpack on the back), but it also meant I had/will have that space free on the way home.
This backpack is so easy to put on as well. Have fun packing!
Wish I would of seen this video at the beginning of this month I would of gotten it. I’ll definitely will be getting it. Thank you❤
I have had this same backpack that I have used for my work travels, if not carrying my laptop I fold a rain jacket in a packing cube. My laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad that is very heavy and thick but this bag has held up well.
Smart tip!
Check TJMaxx for that travel size
As per my medications when I flew in June. I just put them in a pill case as per day. Then I took the labels off the bottles and put them on index cards, and slipped them in my passport holder. So now I have the full ex plus pharmacy name etc.
So smart, Gail!
Just got the same backpack but in the leopard print delivered today thanks to you and your videos! So many pockets, cant wait to use it on my florida trip!
Isn’t it fantastic for that?! So glad it will help you.
Based on your video I bought a backpack same as yours (pink and navy) price was great. Looking forward using it for the first flight inApril. Thanks.
It is so wonderful!
Great tips. I packed snacks but didn’t eat them they kept handing out snacks.
Great job Laurie! I have watched many of your videos and I must say I appreciate your reasoning behind your choices. This helps more than you know. I gets me to thinking about my choices and what will work best in my situation.
Yay a fresh perspective on your bags and packing methods.
I have a similar backpack I used when I few to NC . I was to put a sweater and personal care items bag .
Hi Laurie.
I've heard you mention hearing aids several times. Do you have headsets you recommend to wear with behind the ear hearing aids?
Thanks so much, I really enjoy your channel!
Hi, I just use my airpods instead. I can hear fine with those.
I’m loving your highlights!!!
Thank you so much!
I use my Pop Socket as a stand on my phone.
They are so convenient too!
Thanks, Laurie!!! Enjoy Canada!!!
Alice, we are so excited!
Yes, I remember. I just cannot believe they took those sticks!! Yes good reminder about the battery!
Go to the canada site and fill out arrive can forms. Have that on your phone as you have to show it prior to getting on the flight into Canada. On the arrive can site you have to prove and show your vaccine card. I am presently in Canada now, just flew in 3 days ago.
Yes, hubby has been several times this summer. So happy!!
Great video. I am in the market for a smaller backpack. Thanks for all the TSA updates! You have so many useful tips!

As a heads up, because you’re going to Canada. CATSA states that it must be solid at room temperature to be considered a solid. So frozen water is not allowed.
Thank you! Cannot wait to visit Canada.
Hi Laurie, newbie to your channel. Can you tell me where you got your backpack, brand etc. thanks
Hi! All links and info is in a paragraph for you just below each video. You just click Show More or Read More. Here it is: bit.ly/3rnqUmR but I bought this one with no bar in the top this Fall and absolutely love it too, but it only has 16 pockets lol: bit.ly/3gddd9o

Oh that is not fair. Im so sorry!

You are so welcome!
Laurie, does the striped backpack have a strip on the back to put over the handle of your luggage if you don’t want to wear it?

The Lovenook backpack seems great, but I wonder why you choose one that is not able to be secured by locks or zipper hooks. That piece makes me feel a bit uneasy when travelling internationally. Just curious?
