  • The Evening Chant is sung at the beginning of the evening sitting meditation session. In the Plum Village monasteries the Evening Chant is most often sung in English, Vietnamese or French, but sometimes also in other languages, like here by Brother Duc Tri in Spanish.
Below you find the original Spanish text and the English translation.
    ´Postura erguida y estable
    Sentados
    al pie
    del árbol Bodhi
    Cuerpo, palabra y mente
    siendo uno
    en paz
    Ya no hay más conceptos,
ni del bien, ni del mal
    Cuerpo y mente están
    en recta atención
    Redescubrimos
    nuestra naturaleza
    autentica
    Aclarando toda confusión
    Noble Sangha, con diligencia
    practiquemos la meditación.
    Namo Shakyamunaye Buddhaya
    Namo Shakyamunaye Buddhaya
    Namo Shakyamunaye Buddhaya´
    English version (Plum Village):
    With posture upright and solid,
We are seated at the foot of the Bodhi tree.
    Body, speech, and mind are one in stillness;
There is no more thought of right and wrong.
Our mind and body dwell in perfect mindfulness.
    We rediscover our original nature,
leaving the shore of illusion behind.
Noble Sangha, diligently bring our minds into meditation.
