- The monastics chant the phrase “Namo’valokiteshvara.” This is a chant to invoke the name of the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion, Avalokiteshvara. A “bodhisattva” is a great being who has developed human qualities to a very high degree. We each have a bodhisattva of compassion within us, and this chant is an opportunity to get in touch with that seed of compassion in our hearts, to invite it to manifest right in the very moment of chanting.
In memory of our beloved teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh we are releasing our best recording of the Namo’valokiteshvaraya chant of compassion, which was recorded in the Still Water Meditation Hall, Upper Hamlet, Plum Village, France, in autumn 2020.

This afternoon I visit my mum. She is very ill and today she was not able to open her eyes when I spoke to her. I played her "Namo Avalokiteshvara" from my Playlist and sang with the nuns and monks and Thay was also in this video. Compassion arises in me for my mum and also for me and I feel the love for her so deeply, it was so intense and beautiful and I started to cry. Now I am at home and listen to these new recorded one. I cannot see Thay, but I feel him when I look to the nuns and monks. It gives me relief and peace. Thank you all for this wonderful "Namo Avalokiteshvara" 🙏💙💫✨

I started listening to the chant and closed my eyes. At the beginning I felt sorrow and pain but, as it kept on I started to feel ease and I finished with trears and a big smile. I felt happy and calm.

I never got the chance to meet Thay in person but I feel after 24 years of listening to him teach, watching videos of him giving dhamma talks, hearing his voice on meditations, and reading his words (and hearing his voice in my head), that he has been my teacher, his wisdom and compassion sustained and guided me through some very challenging times... and he still is my teacher. He is still with us and he is still teaching us right now.

The chant is absolutely beyond beautiful it resonates within the soul. All singing are gifted Angels reaching our souls. I send love and blessings to you.
None of us know where we're going. All we can know is what we do in the moment. Be there for your loved ones, strangers in need, and most importantly yourself. Life gives you many blessing but more than that, lessons. Most will hurt, some will have to be repeated, but all are necessary. I hope the spirt that lives within us can find some peace in that.

The first time I listened to this years ago, I sobbed. So much suffering could be felt, not just my own, but of all living beings. It was a life changing experience to really sit with that and to know Thay's community of love and compassion were with me. I felt truly connected.

I meditate at night while drinking tea. I usually listen to Thay’s “The Buddha Is The Sitting” guided meditation. Tonight I decided to listen to this instead. Just a couple of minutes into it, I started crying. I realized immediately that these were not tears of sorrow, but of joy. Despite the sadness of Thay’s passing, I feel joy in his life and in his transition.

Yes its the most wonderful religion thats about peace and love for all living beings including the poor defenceless animals.
Buddhists do not go on a man hunt to convert people.
They do not kill other humans of other religious beliefs in the name of God..
They do not slaughter animals as a sacrifice for personal gains.
They live simply, worship peacefully and have a live and let live attitude.
This is the perfect example of an uncorrupted religion that is peaceful, clean way of life..
Their chants bring one into harmony with nature and the divine force.

I am due to have surgery on my heart in a few weeks and have been very anxious about this. I will visit this video each morning now until my surgery.. I keep playing this over and over again. Every time I am in a bad place, I play it, and it makes me cry, and I always think 'why does it make me cry'? and I can only come to the thought that, well , this is purest version of humankind I can see in my life at the moment. As I listened to this chant from Plum Village last week, in dedication to Thay, I suddenly burst into tears. My heart chakra cracked wide open and joy poured out of my being. Such sweet beauty, gratitude for Thay and for all of you. I feel connected to life and understand my life path so much more clearly now. Thank you brothers and sisters and thank you Thay.

The great master Thich Nhat Hanh has came and left, many has not seen or know his presence but his wisdom full of compassion shall remain on planet earth. This compassionate energy shall penetrate every heart and soul of all sentient beings on earth and awaken humanity to realize their authentic ethereal being which is free from the all worldly contaminations. Shall restore the world into the peaceful and harmonious coexistence of all being.
