Beautiful guitar mate, always loved Hetfield's ESPs. I'm definitely more of a superstrat and les paul shape guy myself, but if I were ever to go for anything a little more 'out there' shape-wise, it would definitely be either an explorer shape or an Ibanez Iceman shape. Cheers from Boston by way of Carrickfergus originally.
Great guitar but not a MX-250. Guitars is made for the United States had the circle logo on the back of the headstock. Also, this has Rosewood and a bolt on neck, which means it is the EXP model from the 90s. I fixed the title because it’s not an MX-250 as those were the original sat neck explorer with Ebony fingerboards
I'm confused so what year did they use the Bell cover?? And what year did they use the Bullet cover? Mine is a Bullet cover been trying to figure out the year
Man, I have to ask. How is the neck dive on this when playing standing up?? All the explorers I tested do neck dive when the strap button is in that location. I dont know if these mx250's have a heavier body to compensate for that and stay balanced. PS: it's just gorgeous, it has been my dream guitar since I started playing music 🙂
Yea it defo dives which sucks. But a padded strap with a grippy material underneath stops that. Also if you use strap locks you can twist the strap attachment point 180degress and that stops it diving too. Thanks though, it’s a beaut and I’m incredibly lucky to own it 🎸
Just a heads up you don’t need to take the pickups out to tell which ones they are. EMG 60’s have a grey “EMG” logo on the cover and EMG 81’s have a silver logo
@@andapen The 85’s are kinda goldish in color. Sounds like yours has dual 81’s which makes sense since that’s what they came with from ESP. I changed the neck pickup out in mine for a 60
@@Liberty_76 aghhh, interesting. What’s the difference in the pickups do you know? I know the 60 is more fat sounding, a little warmer, more suited to the neck.
@@andapen I honestly don’t have any experience with the 85 but I do know it was originally designed as a bridge pickup (IIRC) but IMO you can’t beat the 60 for active pickup clean tones.
I have the exact same guitar 97 black esp explorer. It's been a really good guitar. You can see it on RUclips at given hatred metal band. Thanks. Bob Bicknell
Why the hell he's picking without the index finger? I don't know, I guess that's why the other Kohl's guy is still going at Berlin. I also guess it was a Studio Reference guitar, not the Rhythm guitar that Matt Murphy could played with the Blues Brothers. I can't say I wouldn't like that Laney perfect combo. Namastè.
$700 in 2006 was still an insane price, way under what they were worth at the time, great pick up!
Technically this guitar is the ESP EXP, the MX250 was always set neck and with ebony fingerboards only.
Andreas Kisser and Derrick Green of SEPULTURA have played this guitar model as well between 1998 and 2004

Oh wow! Small world eh! Haha 😆
Man, your picking hand is a machine gun! 🤟🤯
I had the LTD version back in the ‘90’s.......but sold it.....😔. It was a great guitar and wish I still had it. Finding one now is impossible.....
I'm pretty late, but damn. That actually must feel awful once owning one of the most badass guitars in history and losing it. You have my sympathy

Hi, I've got the grass roots version. Do you know what the difference is? Thank you.
I had the grass roots version. Think even that is in demand now. Terrible quality control though.

Hey man, have you still got this guitar?

No way! I did not know that! Just checked them there. Both silver. Is there a difference between 81/85’s in terms of logo colour?

Were those guitars all bolt on necks? Could you have ordered a neck-through version?
No neck though. Just bolt on or set neck
Beautiful! 🔥

I would've direct hit BUY had the black explorer come with the Metallic floor texture inlays that James used on the music video of I disappear
Haha that’s the JH-2. Fun fact they only came in bolt on and we’re slightly different to his version.
But I agree. In hindsight 😂

Sweet
I have a 1989 explorer, no guitar has ever come close to its playability.
Don’t ever sell it until your an old man.
Suing over a shape of guitar is ridiculous
Agree. I heard that Japan hasn’t got the same rules as the states. You can still buy they there I think
@@andapenHow can I contact them? And is is easy to get on to Europe frome Japan?
Absolutely no idea tbh. Probably check out their Japanese site. Or call to the store in Japan direct
