    #3 zip up zipper about 5", and then roll the flap towards the window, then tuck into the 5" zipped up flap.

    I hope they update their High Country tents and make an improved version 2 with new and better features.

    Thank you for your review. I'm in the market and was pretty sure this tent was going to be my selection. After watching your review, I think your dislikes are pretty minor issues that would not bother me, so my decision is now 100% in favor of a 63" FSR Premium High Country series tent. Thanks again!

    I'd really like to see a video showing you taking the cover off/on and what true set up and tear down is really like. We used to sleep out of the back of a 4runner but that gets difficult with a family, yet we still want to wake up tear down and be on the move again. Is it easy and quick like they say and how easy can it be done in the dark? How often do you find that you don't really have enough room for your truck and the pop out to the side once you expand the tent?

    You can buy a small usb extension for $10. Not worth worrying about. I appreciate the other points though. Any issues with rain leakage? Can’t help but notice the lack of awnings over windows etc.

      No leaks at all, it’s really well put together. As it should be for the price 😂

    I've been mulling over buying this tent (the 80 version) for months! This is the best review so far - actual experience. Nothing here is a deal breaker for me either I think besides MAYBE the mattress. I could change it out but anything bigger I'd imagine you can't close the the tent any more, which would be a huge bummer. I have these huge 4 inch foam pads that we've been using in our ground tent, super comfy, like sleeping on my bed at home so I'd love to have more padding in the tent without having to haul around something additional.

    • @offgridexploring
      @offgridexploring  3 года назад

      Agreed man you can’t go wrong. We even bought a mattress topper and they can be cut to fit the size of any mattress. However, the only downside is that the topper portion wouldn’t be weatherproof at all and moisture could be an issue.

    Waste of money or worth the investment? On a HC 63 Premium RTT, do you think adding an additional tri layer insulated wall kit to the interior of the tent would proved enough insulation to keep things warm in sub zero temperatures. Planning on winter camping in Minnesota.

    • @cdnjeepoverland
      @cdnjeepoverland 2 года назад

      Premium already has a tri layer. It’s plenty of insulation already.

    The 63" will have 16" of overhang off the rear of my bed rack. If you are doing pretty rough offroad trails will that much overhang damage the tent?

    • @windowswashbasin
      @windowswashbasin 3 года назад

      I’d at least add an extra cross bar to the mount system when Doing rough off road stuff. If the most rearward bar is at the 16” point it should be fine as my tent hangs 16” plus off the front and rear of my mount system.

    Awesome info Offgrid Essential! I'm looking at a used one with the annex on marketplace right now. The guy is asking $1200. What do you think? How does it do in heavy rain?

    • @cdnjeepoverland
      @cdnjeepoverland 2 года назад +1

      Hope you grabbed it. If it’s a premium with the tri layer it’s a steal. Wonder why they’re selling??? Maybe tired of dealing with covers. That’s the real downfall of these tents.

    Thanks for the great, honest review. I have absolutely no experience with roof top tents. Will these work on smaller SUV's with OEM roof rack/crossbars. I also have a 2021 Toyota Tacoma quad cab with the OEM roof rack. I'd like to be able to use the tent on either vehicle. Thanks in advance for your response.

    • @cdnjeepoverland

      Don’t close the windows. You’ll have the same issue in ANY tent.

      Make sure the top most window is open. I know the 80" has a ceiling vent.
      Don't know about the other models.

    Alot of these issues seem extremely analytical. Does it repel water? Can you sleep in it? You're camping lol. You're not living in the thing.

    • @cdnjeepoverland
      @cdnjeepoverland 2 года назад

      Agreed. The door zipper can be a pain when you’re trying to get out, but at least it’s well built. The biggest problem I have with this tent is that it has a soft cover you need to deal with. Other than that it’s great. I have the 55 on a small off-road trailer and have learned to really dislike the vinyl cover and clips…. Beats a zipper though.

    I'm surprised you didn't mention storage and price. Because you're waisitng useful space in a truck. Just buy an air mattress and sleep in the bed of your truck with a sleeping system. Costs alot to not have some type of heating element too. Especially considering must trucks come with outlets. I would never spend $3200 on a tent. That's just stupid. How does it feel getting scammed?
