Thanks! we noticed we had to learn the hard way instead of just telling everyone how great they are. It is really a great tent, but there are these shortcomings others should know.
I love this review, for those watching this review. Thule sells everything you need to make it a true 4 season tent. Insulation and full length storm cover.
It is always good to present the weaknesses together with the strenghts. For me a big plus on this tent is the option to open the roof and there will be others
Great review., I agree with them all. I have the Autana 3 and my #6 would be the side awnings. While they are sturdy and functional, they are at such an angle and extend so far down the window that if you hope to enjoy the view from the tent, you’re mostly going to see the ground around you.
I'm new to the idea of roof top tents and have been researching roof top tents and this was one of the most helpful reviews / tips video I've seen. These are are the little things you might not think about as possible concerns when you're unfamiliar with these things. With the cost of these types of tents so high it's really important to make an informed choice.
Little confused as my Tepui has straps to hold the cover down in addition to the zipper, which I might add is waterproof. How does the MSR keep rain out when the tent is stowed if there's no weatherproof zipper around the perimeter of the cover? Good review, one should also take into account the price delta of both tents which is significant.
I’m used to carrying everything on my back sleeping in the snow in a 1 lbs 2 person cuban fiber tent. That thing weighs a ton and the fabric looks extremely thick. I don’t understand how it’s not a 4 season tent.
Nice, honest review. Hit on all of the downsides I've observed about this tent. The cover, especially. The zipper is impossible. If only they'd added a few inches, it might actually work. Any suggestions on getting around the zipper? Will dropping the cover and strapping it down without zipping it up protect it well enough?
Boot bag is the best recommendation for sure. When did Thule buy the Tepui brand name? Anybody know? I bought my Tepui 4 years ago. It was just plain old Tepui at that time.
Tepui was bought by Thule in the winter/spring time of 2020 I’m pretty sure. I bet it was in the works for a while but that’s when Thule was branding itself on the Tepui tents
Great vid just bought mine from rei. I was debating on spending more for the ruggedized version. Any issues with durability when off-roading with your non ruggedize one?
We had the same FSR tent - the lack of rain cover over the windows made the FSR practically useless unless it was sunny out. If it rained - you had to keep all of the windows closed.. Very poor design - this guy really needs to test the products - not just on a sunny day
6:17 This is bull'****. Buy a mobile home if you want thermal insulation. Both tents are not insulating. No matter what the seam is. Even if it is diamond shaped.
Finally, a review of this tent that covers the details that prospective buyers actually want to know. Thank you 👍

Good info Kyle, i'm gonna get the insulation as well!

Very helpful! I'm comparing this tent to the new Thule Foothill (which is smaller) but saves rack space.
Thanks Caleb! Id love to see how your Foothill turns out, I haven't put my hands on one yet.
Thank you. That's really helpful to know, esp. before buying one.
The Roam Vagabond has the crappy zipper but it also has the buckles holding on the cover and I just use the buckles instead.
You can buy two bags at attached to a poll that attaches to the top of the ladder. So you have access to it from the door of the tent.
This is what I want to know. What supports the weight of the section that flips out? The ladder?!!!

This is outstanding review of rooftop comparison. Great points on cons.
Glad you liked it!

Do you or would you use a heater buddy in the tent?

I'm impressed with this guy's ears tho.
1:14 these bags are also available from Thule...
Really like your guy's channel. Good, solid, relevant information.
Thanks David!
Does it have any problems with condensation my previous rooftop tent in anything under 0c got completely soaked on the inside
Great observations! Thanks a bunch! =Cosmo
Good video, but great blue sweatshirt. Can I have the brand, please?
I’m guessing Lululemon
Thanks! It’s Lululemon
Thank you. It’s now on my shopping list.
This was extremely helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thats fine now can buy one for 560 very good deal aight?

Been looking everywhere for this info. Thank you.
Well what kind of tent is the fsr? Lol I’m so undecided leaning towards the fsr
The FSR is the High Country Series 64! But to be honest they are both great!
They sell a insulation for it

They make the attachable outside boot bag

I love how much you really really hate that tent LOL
Your comparing a Tepui to a tent that costs at least $500 more?
3:16 just because you can not handle the zipper its nothing wrong with it
Rods are easy zipper is easy make a slide out for shoes
My zipper broke:/
just buy a tepui shoebag its simple😊

@@offgridexploring allthough it should be included we go to sweden this summer and rain is s thing than
4:00 just because you mounted the tent in a spot where you cant reach every thing .... ok lets watch the next bad thing...
I think you should go buy an FSR….😂
