- Welcome back all,
In this weeks upload we head up to Newcastle to have a browse around WB & Sons, June classic car auction! This is our second time visiting and wasn't disappointed at the wide selection of vehicles, which ranged from full restoration builds to unloved rusty projects. As always I gravitated towards the classic fords, although I am trying to record a wider selection of vehicles. I partially liked the Clio 182 trophy, although not a classic I really liked the sporty hatchback and considering there were only 500 built there can't be many left!
The ST170 estate would've been my bargain of the auction! Sale price was just £450 and considering you'd be lucky to get a engine for one of these for less than £250, I think someone will make a fair bit of money out of the old estate. Auctioneer was Jim Ronan which some of you watching will recognise him from Anglia Car Auctions a few years back and he also is the auctioneer down at Letchworth Motor Auctions too.

Ahhhhh Astra GTE - Now they sure take me back, I loved them that much in the late 80's I might have accidently drove a few of them without the Owners consent, luckily in the eastly 90's I was rehabilitated.
Was a few cars near you I kept thinking ..............GO SEE that ONE, BEHIND YOOUUU!
Enjoyed that as per fella, looks a decent place, might give a look in the near future.

Another quality video Mitch, the Peugeot 205 GTI was a quality find mate the rear panel that shows the 1.6 or 1.9 was always tricky to spot when you were going for the burn up 😂 the wheels were the giveaway on them the 1.6 had different type of wheel to the 1.9. My brother in law owned the 1.6 was a very rapid car. Mitch a super rare Peugeot for you to look out for for your channel Peugeot 309 GTI the only car I test drove and didn't buy because it was to fast had the 1.9 gti engine what a motor. When you do these videos it takes me back to the good old days thank you.

My first driving experiences came behind the wheel of a 1992 1.2 Opel corsa (as they where known in ireland) .I loved that car and have a real desire to own one of that body shape and era myself.

Yeah, we don't like our eyes being taken out up here. There was a couple of estimates that I thought, they'll not make that up here and sure enough I was right 😂

The Bedford that sold for £11900 was Mint. I’ll guarantee that whoever restored it spent more than £11900. Fantastic Perkins Diesel. I’d have Loved to own that Vehicle.
I always found the doors on the Astro to high when you’re sitting in, on the old Ford’s the window in lower which I preferred.

Yes mate, we see lots of SA fords over here! They don’t fetch the same money as UK fords but they’re still worth a bit 👍🏻

Nice one Mitch👍It’s nice to see your enthusiasm for the cars I grew up with. I was lucky enough to own a lovely mk2 Escort 1.3GL that I bought from an Ex Ford employee so it had a slightly higher spec! It was fitted with the high compression engine and good for the magic ton! After that had a gorgeous mk2 Fiesta XR2 in extremely rare nimbus grey (not mercury grey as most are) with the dark grey interior (not the horrible light grey!).Then I bought the often overlooked Pug 309Gti which was FUN! Anyway, could go on but leave the rest to when/if/ever our paths should cross!

Great video Mitch. That red Ford Capri 3.0 looked a bit suspicious to me, due to the fact that the bonnet didn't have a bulge on it as 3 litres should've. Maybe this was why you wasn't able to open the bonnet. Maybe there's a 1.3 hiding away. I know that the 1.3s and early 1.6s didn't have them. Also proved by the yellow unrestored 3. Litre as that had a bulge. It would definitely put me off buying the red car without any explanation.
Bedford van and transit both used as our builders work van capri mini mayfair mk2 escort 3 wheel bond 4.2 jag cortina mk123 AVENGER AUSTIN 1100/1300 had them all as personal transport in the day 66 yrs old now and a right trip down memory lane
Things moved on and waiting delivery of a renault iconic megan etec yep going electric

I always feel a bit disappointed when I see special cars like the focus rs modified. Dont really think they need to be, plus I always thought they would be more desirable as they got older if they were standard.
Some lovely cars again here, loved them 205 GTIs growing up!!

the kadett GSi what a machine with it´s dash from the... electronic one the traces from the fuel deposit used to disapear fast and create anxiety.

Welcome back to my part of the world, I'm near Darlington and I'll have to pop up to WB sometime, already been to Matthewsons a couple of years ago. My favourite was the Bedford CA, although the Perkins diesel would have done my nut in, mega noisy and mega slow lol
I would love to go to Matthewsons but I believe the auction isn’t open to the public anymore :( Glad you enjoyed the video mate 👍🏻
@@Mk2Mitch Yeah I'm sure they went online in Covid and preferred it that way so kept it, could be wrong though. It is a shame cos it was a really good day out. You and Lauren could have made a long weekend of it and took in some of the beautiful scenery of Yorkshire. As I said I'm in County Durham (next county up from Yorkshire) but it's beautiful around here countryside wise.
Another good video , some of the cars you feature do not always bring the money you might expect but with time and a bit of money, usually more than you hoped, would make ideal basis for classic rally cars, as shown on the recent HERO event Three Legs of Man, shown on RUclips

Not criticism Mitch ,it just made me think what we would say back when the BMW was new and I was roughly 20. You said it's a 3 two 0h i. We would say 3 twenty i then 3 two five i. As opposed to 3 twenty five i. Yeh confusing i spose. Bang on vid as per . Love it.

Dude... Almost every car that I looked at!! 🤣 Some quality vehicles in at WB and Sons, car of the auction for me was the Integrale next to the first Focus RS, close 2nd was the stunning red Alfa GTV next to the 16 sport 👍

It’s crazy how much the prices increase but I guess they are getting more rare by the day and the price reflects that!

Yeah I know I need a lot of a lot of work doing to it but it can’t be done but it be nice when it’s finished. I will have a boy is it good iPhone if I was there I brought it an adult work that was well cheap for women if it’s original because it would be a prana Auction and that would be mad. Are you doing the Silverstone one? I don’t know when it is but the professional capris are in the Bodian Doyle ones Silverstone cautions classic car 😮😮😮😮😅

Excellent video Mitch. As a newcomer to the channel it was good to see your segments which showed what the vehicles actually sold for. I did like the Ice Cream van, when that has been brought up to scratch, it should make a very quick return on Investment for the owner especially with the 99ers at four quid a pop.
