    I recently bought this and overall it's a nice upgrade over my Autel DiagLink. However, the one thing I didn't know prior to purchasing and it's quite important is that you can't monitor data pids and perform a bi-directional test both at the same time. So for example, if you want to see how the O2 sensors react while you turn on the evap purge valve...you can't do that. You can go into actuations and turn on the evap purge valve but you can't see the real-time o2 data stream.

    • @GarageKing

      Good to know, but I think that's how all scanners are? Except maybe the ones that run thousands.

    Can it calibrate any ADAS functions like the front radar on a Toyota? I have Techstream for that but I'd like to get a scanner that can handle it. I have the front radar "triangle" that you need to put 9.85' away to complete the calibration, just wondering if this scanner has the software in it

    Mostly like the bidirectional controls. And live data. Also like that you can check all data with it as well.

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  Год назад

      I'm not sure about that. I find the coding for each manufacturer, along with the bi-directional capabilities varies, so I really can't say. You could reach out to Kingbolen, they are a huge distributor and are good with getting back to questions like that. If they don't know then you cold try Launch.

    Launch X321 CR919E might be over kill but I'm looking for a scan tool that would pull up actual mileage from BCM/Dash,Engine and ABS, not just from Dash. Would this one fit the bill? I'm driving a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. My first thought was to go with a THINKSCAN Plus S5 or S7.

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  Год назад +1

      The CR919E is a Bi-Directional scanner, it does a lot, and its these scanners that save a TON of time when you are diagnosing. For example, if you car is over heating you can command the cooling fan relay on and off, a very easy and quick way to start your checks. Thats just an example of the many things. The THINKSCAN S5 and S7 are just readers with a few reset functions, and to be honest the Xtool IP608 is only about 40 more and it will do way more. Its not a CRP919E, but it will do quite a bit. To answer your question about the mileage, most scanners will pull the mileage from the BCM, as that feeds the dash. If you are just looking to read things with a few resets the S7 will do, but for about 40 more, as I mentioned earlier the IP608 is just way more ahead. Then there is a gap where you pretty much have to double your money to start getting into true bi-directional scanners, and they can keep going well over $1000 depending on how advanced you want to go.

      Yep I did. The thing is there is a launch store on Amazon, but that aside you have to look at the cost of the software. Its like 500 to renew, so really what are the chances of it breaking after a few years?? The price tags are for software you would probably never use, like Borgward, DR, JMC, Perodua (Malaysia). The only one I recognized was McLaren so if you have one of those manufacturers you have to pay, the cost was 39.72 for the vehicles so not much anyway. As for renewal fee Its usually a few hundred every few years after you use the free period which is 2-3 years. The scanner will still work, it just won't update after that point. I think for what you can get them for, and what they do, they are a bargain. If you want a dealership one, they are so expensive most manufacturers will put you on a payment plan.

      It will keep working, it just won't update. You will have all the features, you just wont be able to add newer cars. Right now we are in 2023 so in 2025 it would stop updating so if you had a 2026 car or newer it may not work depending on what you are scanning. Most vehicles are under warranty for a few years so the scanner will be good for quite a while. Just FYI - I bought a launch CRP429 and did a video on it years ago ruclips.net/video/HzPWF48tnx4/видео.html , it still worked great after the updates stopped. I just felt it was time to upgrade to a better scanner. Right now there is a limited time deal, its cheaper than what I paid !!! amzn.to/3Kk6Mh5

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  Год назад +1

      It comes with 2 years free updates, so that is pretty good. The cheaper scanners (some of them) can have lifetime updates, but as you get into the better scanners they don't update forever. Remember the scanner will work without updates its just limited to the last update. We are 2023 so the scanner would be good scanning vehicle up to model year 2025. I love this scanner, used it on an Audi the other day.

      Hey There, I don't believe it can do that. For that you would need an actual oscilloscope with test leads. Hey there, its because the scanner needs the TPMS tool, and that tool is bluetooth, you have to buy it separately. The Launch bluetooth TPMS tool it not cheap. It doesn't have free lifetime updates forget about it

      Good morning, no it doesn't have free updates for life. No premium scanner made does. The ones that have free updates for life are more simple, you must step down to the more simple scanners.

      Its free updates for 2 years, which is not bad for a premium scanner, and even afterwards it will still work great, just only up to the last year it updated. But still, I hear ya..... Happy weekend to you and thanks for the comment :)

      figured it out, at first i thought i needed a $600 subscrip. but once i went to data and went into firmware fix it started working. actually like this scanner, helped me clock my tps sensor with the live data to the proper volts
