I use two chairs instead of a bench. With the bench, my arms and shoulders are way too far back and can lead to injury. With two chairs, I can still work the triceps with my hands safely in front of my hips instead of behind. Also can elevate feet using a low stool, table or anything else. You've mastered it when you can place both hands on the floor next to your hips and raise your whole body so just your hands touch the floor. This will also build core and quads.
the only other thing I'd add to this great instruction is I like to point my fingers perpendicular to my legs facing out away from my body to keep my shoulders externally rotated... feels way better to me.
Welcome back Stuart! Thank you for teaching me the correct way to do bench dips. I'm going to try the proper way when I go to the gym tomorrow. Another excellent video dudes.
Great this is most useful video tips. So I like this so much. In this video tips the seek us bench dips for triceps steps easily. Thanks for sharing this tips.
Excellent explanation and demonstration doctor. Love your videos, when I finish I just feel like I understood everything. Bench dips looks really effective for the triceps, gonna include into my gym routine for sure. Thank you!
I just went and tried these after watching your video, did 3 reps of 20 and oh man I could really feel it. I can see this becoming my favorite tricep exercise going forward, gonna stick to the standard dips for a bit and then increase to the advanced form after that. Big thanks for sharing these tips Doc.
A good demonstration in so far as the position of the shoulders during the dip is concerned but, by turning your hands out by ninety degrees, you would further reduce internal rotation which, in my (humble) opinion, further reduces the incidence of shoulder injury.
Hey Miguel, thanks for writing in and great question! You can absolutely do both on the same day, especially if you are splitting up your workout routine in different methods of lifting. For example, some people split up their training to "push" and "pull" days for their upper body, doing more chest/shoulders/triceps on "push" days and back/biceps on "pull" days. Therefore, doing dips/push-ups both fit more on the "push" days. -The FFP Team
nah im doing 6 sets of 22 reps then 4 sets of 22 reps + at the end of the set 90 degree hold for 10 seconds and do + 10 reps and thats it. Pause betwen sets is 20 seconds. This workout can be done for 7- 10 mins. that 3 sets 15-20 reps is nothing if u want fast progress and big triceps i do this workout 4 days of the week
Sorry Doc but I have to disagree with you and your trainer here on the placement of the hands. Jeff Cavaliere from ATHLEAN-X shows from a science perspective on why placing the hands this way is bad for our shoulder rotator.

I want to develop my triceps. this exercise right for me.
I lucked out in the biceps/triceps department... my body doesn't store much fat in my arms so they look huge without much effort.
I wonder if your head trainer will get his own channel.
Can push up and bench dip do at the same time?

If my bench isn't a straight bench and it has curves in the bench. Am I still hitting my triceps?
Do it on a chair or stool 👍
See I am not a big fan of dips because it hurts my front delt and shoulder soooooo much!
Thanks for showing us how to do bench dip correctly. But Mr Carter has triceps half your size Dr Balduzzi.
