They must've known UFC was gonna get big. At the end, Ken predicts Cage fighting/MMA is the next big thing. The Street fighters would have to get some ground game though. So far only Zangief has it.
That's ironic considering this is a pseudo sequel to the Van Damme flick no less. Personally I enjoy that movie for what it is ie cheesy fun. Zangief's line "Quick, somebody change the channel!" makes me laugh even now for some reason. It was a silly campy movie and that's all it was.

I would take that film anyday over Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. The worst thing about the cartoon that is shown here, is the lopsided animation that the anime series did better, the story even gave plot holes to both the movie and the game and there are no SF Alpha 3 appearances.

And for a stereotype that we Americans made on a character that was INTENDED for us, I'll buy it just for laughs despite the show taking itself seriously plus it has an acceptable plot even though it's video game man's G.I. Joe. Plus seeing how it's based mainly on SF2, it made sense to revolve the story on Guile since he has more of a connection to M. Bison than Ryu. Also the writers did some research IMO but thought that most of the source material was lacking and decided to do some crazy shit like turn Ryu and Ken into a loser comedic duo though Ryu is the serious man of the group which was insulting to these icons and their fans and creators. But this is an 90s American cartoon of the show (being based on the L.A. movie) and Guile was a 'Murican that really had more of connection with Bison (along with Chun-Li for similar reasons) than Ryu (who was a perfect vessel for Bison).

In a few hours or episodes, they did a better explanation of *all* the characters personalities and motivations, both in comedy and in intense animated super-hero action-drama. Besides, cheesy as it was, I just have to admit the Van Dame movie did _not_ age well....dude, it was pretty poor when it came out in 95. Making a cartoon based on an already weak movie....not a good formula.
