It would be nice if you replied to questions that people have asked about this method, seems you do when they are praising you or you pick what ones you’d like to reply to. I see lots of unanswered questions here
If the printer doesn't like the pet film tape a blank piece of paper to the back with double sided tape. Works a treat
Thank you!
I have a question they make two different powders they make a white and a black wouldn't the white toner act like a backing like if you would done a white HTV. Or does it go completely clear and maybe they make a pigmented DTF powder it's just adhesive right
I tried this on Saturday and I could not get it to peel. If it did peel off it owes like a thin layer of plastic was left behind on top of the image or thr color would peel off in patches.
This is the same problem I’m having
Make sure you’re printing images on the correct side of transfer paper. When adding the powder it should look completely frosted. It worked perfect for me.
That was amazing. I just watched a tutorial using DTF printer and film and the DTF printer was so expensive. I know you couldn't print on dark material but to be able to print on cotton alone is a big plus. Thank you for taking all the guessing out of this process for us. You save us so much time and money. You're the best!
Yes!! My husband spent over $2800 buying me a "cheap" DTF printer 2 yrs ago and I haven't even done a test print to this day. Thisnis so much cheaper. I hope he can come upnwith a way to do dark shirts too
Only problem with the dark color Clothing is the lack of the white over ink. If they made a white dtf power that stayed white it would work.
@@sinsofvorador I believe you just need one of the eco tank printers that have the two black tanks and you put white dtf ink in one of the black spots. Havnt tried myself but seen a video on it and makes sense. I believe there's just a change you need to make in your software for the color profile. But then again, what's the toll your ecotank will pay to run those unsupported inks?
Omg! This is a complete game changer. So here's my tricky question. Would this process also work on regular tumblers in a tumbler press that are not made for sublimation? Maybe do a cool peel rather than a warm peel? Also, I do a lot of shirts for larger people so is there a brand of film that you would recommend for 13x19? I very rarely use 8.5x11. Thank you so much, this video totally made my day!!!
Are there any updates as promised on this hack? What about on dark cotton fabric? Will it work?
Hello Michael! Have you tried this process on colored or black tshirts/fabric yet?
What printer settings did u use? I am getting roller marks from the ink being wet. :(
But the image in the t-shirt doesn’t look with good quality as the first image
Thank you, Michael!!! My son is 10 years old and wanted to print his own shirts and he is a wonderful streetware artist! I was missing a few things like the powder and appropriate temp. Thank you for helping make his dream come true!!!!
Hi. I have an epson et 2760 and I cannot get them to print; I've tried taping to sheet of paper and it will start to print but them it just stops. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Question:
The description of this film on Amazon says it's not for use with a heat press. I'm confused now and just double checking the product used
so good as all my t-shirt are 80 cotten so this will work for me from Australia
So excited for this!! I've been hoping someone would come up with a plan 🤩
🤣 Me too!!!!
i was wondering if you put anything inside of the shirt to keep the design from bleeding onto the back? Or if that is even a necessary step?
Hi Michael! You are my go to guy! I did an experiment using your materials but doing a cold peel as Crystal Ann suggests...the film separated leaving a cellophane layer on my tshirt. People don't do a cold peel do as Michael said "hot peel".
Afternoon Michael! Saw your picture earlier (good picture)
The NGOODIEZ Direct To Film powder is not longer available on Amazon. Do you have another recomendation?
The powder is not available on Amazon where else can we buy to give you credit or can you link a different name brand that’s available?
How many seconds do you recommend putting the film under the press to melt the powder? And what temperature do you recommend?
Awesome Job. So excited to try this... So, any suggestions on other powder adhesive since its out of stock on Amazon?? What to do with my excess HTV Vinyl now that this step is best?? lol
Warm peel works best in our testing, some printers have sensors and will not print on overhead sheets because they cannot not detect a surface to print on. You can use a temp spray and place a piece of white paper behind the transparent sheet to get the printer to print. Embossing powder works with an inkjet printer, use whatever color embossing powder you would like. Make sure to apply the powder before the ink dries. Transparencies can attract powder particles and brushing may not remove all of the loose powder when using embossing powder. Tested at 320 degrees for 90 seconds also worked great. If using Sub ink, white embossing powder works, however the print will not be as clear nor as bright as using DTF powder. Happy Crafting!
where can i find the link for the products you used? I am so excited, thank you!
Love the possibility of using something that works and gives awesome results You are definitely on track for producing Mr Crafty transfer film.
I am also obsessed with this stuff. But just can’t seem to eat anything right. I get lucky occasionally and something will look good! Which is why I’m calling myself Accidentally Craftyy! 🤪
Thank you for figuring this out for us!! Sublimation on dark cotton using printouts larger than 8.5x11 please!! 🙏❤️
What’s the powder called please
Not sure if you mentioned this - do you need a DTF printer or can I use my Epson Sublimation printer?
after you print onto the clear film mine comes out extremely wet and takes awhile to dry. would you let it dry any or apply powder right away
Could I use the regular sublimation paper for this or is there a reason you are using the transfer film? Is the film reusable or what is the point in using film instead of the regular sublimation printer paper
You need to print it with the film and sublimation papers taped together, that's why his shirt isn't the same as the picture
What brand of powder?
Holy beans I was just thinking about this yesterday and wanting to try it but wasn't sure if it would work ! Woohoo looking forward to this. Thank you!!
Wow, this is great. I'm so glad to find a way other then the glitter htv to sub on cotton. Thanks Michael
Michael, I’ve been thinking about how to use Crystal’s (Design Bundles) version of this hack but get a white background along with it without using DTV for colored cotton. How about using white sublimation paint? Make a stencil outline of the image you want on the cotton, put it on a piece of DTF film (same one you would stick in the printer) and paint on the white sublimation paint, put the powder on it, remove the stencil, place it on the shirt and heat press like you normally would and then warm peel it off. Now you have a white sublimated background on cotton. Then do Crystal’s regular sublimation DTF hack for getting the image on the shirt. I’m not sure if it would work since now you are layering the sublimation ink on top of the white sublimation ink instead of straight to the shirt but I thought it would be worth a try. I posted a similar comment on Crystal’s video but I’m not sure she’ll read it so I thought I’d bring it up to you.
Where do I find the links for the items you used? The transfer sheets and powder
I just did this and it worked. Had to jack my press up to 390 to melt the powder but using the parchment paper made it feel smooth. Ty
Question: I do not own a sublimation printer, nor have plans to buy one. Is there a hack for using Cricut Infusable Ink sheets and pensÉ
So the film is just pre heated but the press does NOT come down to touch it?? And for now long?
He preheated the film then pressed it on the shirt with no cover sheet for 90 sec at 380 degrees
@@Aaronshorts21 thx! But I meant like just hovering over the film correct? Is not that the press touched it at all right? I have a different press that has to come down and lock …
I am so here for this! I just tried sublimation spray on a cotton tshirt last night and the picture did not transfer well at all. It was super light where you could barely see it. I’m sure it was “user error”. I can’t wait to see how this works! ❤️
i used the spray once did not work well
@@cherylshields7576 I hear you there, so disappointed 😥 I purchased 2 bottles with high hopes lol! I’ll try Michael’s method in this video 💜
Just tried it, and it definitely works.
I totally love this method it is a game changer. And your skeleton in the background is awesome
I am so excited for this tutorial. Just started making t-shirts and mugs. There are just so many cotton brand shirts out there. Also just used my crafty 10% off 143 vinyl and saved over $20 on my 2 different orders. Thanks for that🙏.
no backward ball cap? 🤷♀️
looking forward to this tutorial!!!
I've looked at this several times now, and it looks like when you peeled it off most of the color stayed on the film. If I'm too soon with getting this stuff please let me know. Thanks.
What was the name of the powder you used?
Can same converted printer be used for sublimation and DTF?
If we could get the powder to melt white instead of clear, that would be a total game changer!
Can you please show how it looked under normal lighting conditions? Because it honestly looked like hot garbage. You showed it under a blue hue (through lighting) and must have pumped up the saturation in order to get the colors to show which is a bit misleading.............
Hello,
After you have the crystal sprinkled on, our you just hoovering over until it melts? Or are you actually pressing?
This shirt looks great. I tried mine for 60 seconds at 385 and it scorched my shirt also I cannot find a PET film that works for me every film that I purchase I get roller marks I have an Epson 2850 I even took the rollers all out and I'm still getting roller marks. I cleaned the machine which wasn't even dirty because machine is pretty new. I haven't used it very often. It's very frustrating. Can't figure it out.
Followed your instructions, exactly, and I'll add, I also have a Star Craft press so shouldn't have been any issue there. However, I ended with a brown rectangle around my image, which did not fully sublimate. Lol, back to the drawing board!
This is so amazing but, I have a question; After printing your design out how much time do you have to use the DTF, do you have to use it right away or do you have to use it within the same day?
Hi! Thank you for the awesome hack. I am new to this whole process. When printing on PET my ink "bleeds" making horrible thick lines. Do you perhaps have some printer setting advise?
Same! Did u find a resolution for it yet ?
Just a suggestion but, Have you tried turn your print quality to normal instead of high quality? It uses less inks so I'm thinking it might help
@@ashleygriggs8738 no not yet. I am waiting on a lot of customer supports. It looks like I would have to convert my other printer.
@@michellesprout4199 I have tried every single setting on that printer. Thanks for trying to help.
My Epson F170 printer will only print half of my design. Any suggestions?
Hiya. Is this still a viable option for printing on cotton? I bought the printable HTV vinyl, but I don't like the white outline it gives - I am still very new to crafting. What about if you don't have a clam heat press, how you to suggest we heat up the design after applying the powder?
Hi Michael, I am having trouble with my epson et 15000 stopping 1/4 of the way through print on the octago inkjet transparency film. Have you any ideas ? It prints a-sub prints just fine
What kind of powder is that? Thanks
hi what is the powder your using please
Hey Censina! I've got all the supplies linked down in the description under the video! 🤩
Hello,I am using a converted epson printer with Starcraft Sublimation Ink and having issues with the colors, what print settings do you use? Thank you.
What brand hot melt powder did you use?
Had the same problem. You have to take a piece of regular printer paper and tape it to the BACK of the transfer paper. I had to move the regular printer paper down about 2 inches, and place a piece of tape on the end of the transfer paper and regular paper so the printer will feed the regular paper in first triggering the printer mechanism and then it feeds and prints. You can use ANY transfer paper.
Hey there Mr. crafty pants. I’m trying this for the first time and I wanna know how long does the curing process take….I have a cricut easy press and I need to know how long to “hold it” over the print? Help a sista out please! 💜🙏🏾💜
I'm in Australia and they don't have Epsom 2800, what can you suggest please?
She said in a second video she is using film meant for DTF. Could that be why it's not working as well for you since your PET film doesn't state it's for DTF?
Following
Thank you for your video. Just tried it. However the image looks grainy. What can I do? What did I I do wrong?
I watched her video earlier and she didn’t bake the powder before she applied it to the tee shirts
So like, ghetto DTF for people that can't afford proper setups? While these ideas are cool it irks me knowing that some people out there will think this creates a saleable product. I'd categorize this as at home personal crafts and nothing more. If you wanna sub on cotton and sell it, you're best bet is still polymer liquid pretreating. Even then you wont make a good product unless you desize the shirt first.
Hi! I actually tried out dtf sub hack! But how cN i prevent roller markers from my eco 2720?
Also will this allow you to print white, example a white dog on a black t-shirt or would I need a printer that uses white ink? I have a converted epson printer
HTVRont has a similar product to this method. You should check it out 🙏🏾
Hi I bought an Epson eco tank and I wanted to print white letters so bought a bottle of $80 htv ink. I put it in tank instead of the blue along with the regular colors but nothing will transfer on to any kind of fabric so do you think it’s the white ink ruining it? I put machine on 390 90 seconds tried on copy paper sublimation paper and dtf clear film with the powder you listed but I did put the powder on the film the day after and all the materials I’ve tried not even a hint of color. Any thoughts besides throwing the machine out the window lol
once you cure the ink and the powder at 385 you can drop your heat to 300 for 30 to 45 seconds also you can do the print and cut on white htv as a backing behind the image to do black shirts check out crystalann she has a great video on it too thanks Michael for all you do your still my number one goto
does anyone have any advise? I am using a converted to sublimation epson eco tank, I am using the exact same film that he is using by my printer stops printing on it quarter way down the sheet. will print on everything else just not this film. any and all tips and clues would be much appreciated
freat video
Are you happy with that? I wouldn't be. Very splotchy around the nose.
Can this process be used on dark shirts. If so how
If you can get it to work on dark shirts I'm in, lol. I make shirts for myself and rarely wear anything light...too easy to stain and I'm the type of person that can stain a shirt just putting it on, lol.
He already made one 2 months ago ruclips.net/video/cekdJwnxkkU/видео.html
I second this!
Siser just came out with a new inkjet printable vinyl. Already used it and it's an amazing compromise to sublimation. No fussing with anything. Just print, cut, then press.
@@FullHomeless have you washed anything with it on it? How does it hold up?
@@terilew1 No washes yet, but reviews from other peope who have done 20+ test washes seem positive. I've always done EasySubli vinyl + sublimation for dark shirts and have never had a bad experience with the ink fading or the vinyl cracking. Although this is inkjet ink rather than sublimation ink, so only time will tell.
Dude....why you had to show it under the purple light, LOL. We wanted to see how it looked.
Love this, trying to figure out how to add something white to the poly melt so it works on dark as well. Or do they make white melt.
Thank you this fabulous video! I can't tell you how easy it was to follow! I made Christmas rounds with your easy to follow Canva instructions. I can't wait to try the transperancy & the powder on t-shirts!! Thank you!!
Omg I'm so excited to learn more about this!!!!
Ashame the powder is not white in pigment !!! Problem solved!!
I converted an empson et-2850 but it will not print on this ITF. any ideas?
I have small hands, the heat resistant gloves says fits most. How big are they actually in your opinion?
So this could only be done on white cotton but if you put white vynal it works just as good. And it could be any vynal white no specific brand or type
Do you think you could do this method over white htv on a dark material?
Can't wait been wanting to try this
Hello
I need help
You can say which products use.
Thanks
Can you feel the image on the shirt? Did you use sublimination to print that out or an inkjet printer?😊
Amazing, I new there was something better, I am so happy for this video!
No matter how many times I left it under and or turned it. There's a strip of powder that wouldn't bake
I’d be so afraid that hearing that powder side up would ruin my heat press!
Yesss and please do with black cotton :)
Is there a way you can do this process with a regular Cricut manual heat press? Please help! New at this.
What am I doing wrong? I tried this and it comes out distressed looking rather than crisp.
so i may be a little late to the party, but I just tried this and was amazed. one problem was the wheel from the printer left trace lines of black down the middle of the image that I did not see before hand. is there a solution ? less ink setting? I do not have a transparency paper setting. Any suggestions are welcome. thank you
Same issue here
my understanding that powder needs you to wear a respirator and use ventilation
Got it to work. Taped a blank piece of paper to transfer paper and fed through printer....worked like a charm.
that's great!
Fab 😊😊. Any tips on how I can pre heat the sheet because I have a cricut easypress 😳
