- Born in Jamshedpur on 16th June, 1971, Imtiaz Ali is an Indian Filmmaker known for his films addressing the sentiments of youth in Indian society. Imtiaz`s directorial debut happened in 2005 with the film “Socha Na Tha.” In 2007, his film “Jab We Met” led him to immense popularity. His 2009 film “Love Aaj Kal” gained huge critical success and was super hit at box office. His film Rockstar (2011) turned out to be one of his most successful films. Imtiaz Ali`s films Tamasha and Highway have extensively addressed the dilemmas and struggles of today`s youth in Indian Society.

Irfan Sir opened Imtiaz up, but abruptly ended the interview even Imtiaz wanted to stay back. Maybe there were time restrictions. But Irfan sir as usual is the master of interviews.
Happy to see Mr Irfan back with his Guftgoo interviews. For his fans any platform will do even any name will do. Guftgoo by any other name is welcome as long as the interviewer is Mr Irfan
Gugtugu introduced such a humble and positive story teller we would never know otherwise. Irfan sahib you nailed in this interview. My take away is 'we should not carried away with what is told and showed to us, rather develop our own opinion' which is lacking in the this time of social media and explosion of information.

Irfan saheb is so patient and a calm listener . He gives time to the person in front of him to open up. He is experienced and exceptional in his technique . Here Imtiaz is so soft speaker, never shy of his limitations. But still covered with shyness. He is a truly a creative person. Watchers suddenly develop a liking for a laid back and intellectual type of a person. He is a true artist, introvert, pleasant and calm. Liked this special interview. Congratulations! Does one experience a sense of serenity while listening to a conversation,a talk or discussion? at least that is how I felt throughout.Gentle and calm where there was no battle of wits but sheer contemplation.Irfan Saheb is real good but he would easily agree that Imtiaz was better.Effort on either side was not noticed as we watched a breeze.

I am so glad that i could listen and grab a chance to see deeper to filmaker's perspective. I am looking forward to work with him one day on direction although I have not so far done any screen play but I am experiencing and feeling thousand things which will be helpful to me to share my story.

Good to see Mr. Irfan back. I don’t know what happened with the RSTV program but thanks to Rekhta for bringing him back. I hope he’s getting all the journalistic freedom he used to get in the RSTV program. I wish Irfan had asked Imtiaz about why he makes films (reference to his Rajat kapoor interview) and how Imtiaz gets into the skeleton of a story if it’s written by someone else (Sourabh Shukla interview) since he wrote Ahista Ahista based on Dostoevsky’s White Nights. Want another round with Imtiaz regardless. Allah Hafez.

First, thanks for (re)starting the program and thanks to Rekhta for providing the platform. In addition, I read your latest post about the interview length. At least I can tell you about my family. It is true the attention span is small. And therefore, we love to listen to the episodes not once but several times to assimilate and absorb every word/message being discussed.

Hi Imran Sahib, I love the way you ask questions and then wait for people to open up their hearts. You have such a patience, no other Anchor have this quality, almost every Anchor is in such a hurry and impatient and eager to put words on guests mouth, but you are always calm and smiling.
And another quality, you can also change the subject when it goes too far away from the topic, also agitate their intellect, with little suggestions.
After watching your program, I always try to remind myself, that while I am talking with other people , to listen them and then talk.
I wanted to say this from long time.
One little criticism of today’s interview, the way you are sitting or some other reason,
You look like you are always looking at your watch,that make me feel, that you want to finish this interview, many people have already commented on this, they feel it was very short video.
