The people of Indo Pak have no right to be proud of the exiled legends. We were so brutal that we compelled them to move from their homelands, villages, cities and town on the basis differences.

Actually me & my brother have learnt Urdu the regional or state language of Kashmir when we went to school there. I didn't know that Gulzar wrote in Urdu too. Nice language no doubt ,when hearing such lovely songs .

I hope you would not be so abusive to Irfan ji. Because it is the questionnaire that Mr. Irfan has prepared ( he has no papers with him were questions are written) so this is a impromptu talk. But I do feel full admiration for Gulzar for giving us optimistic answers which do convey a sense of peace within himself. All his lyrics are meaningful. I have enjoyed more or less 100 %, of this magnificent talk.
After watching this interview I am embarrassed of my shallowness when I compare myself to the depth Gulzar possesses. Hats off! Have always been a fan, even more so now.
One can watch this program for only Irfan Saheb. His in-depth research, approach and the respect for person is commendable. He allows the person to speak and open up fully, without interrupting. His simplicity, language and diction is joy to watch.

I couldn’t resist myself to transcript it. It is an irony that a beautiful language and heritage like Urdu has been sidelined from all walks of life specially from films even these days titles are not in Urdu. Is it some thing of a vengeance or political vendetta. Can these living legends like Gulzar, Javed akhtar, etc etc take up this subject very seriously and try to revive it and bring it back to those glorious days.

One or two persons will not be able to do it. There should be a concerted effort by all Urdu lovers to keep the language in maximum use. How can anyone sideline it? There are too many lovers of this language in this country. But one has to speak it.

Urdu is the most precise language and Bengali the most sweet language in the world. That is what I was told by my Professor of English Lit. who was a master of the Urdu language. I am a Bengali but my love for Urdu wants to make me soak in the language. It takes you to a different world altogether!!
1.Hindi was Born from Sanskrit (Father) 2. Urdu Nurtured Hindi (Mother) 3. Urdu itself was Born of Persian 4. Persian itself was Deeply Deeply Enriched from Arabic and Turkish 5. So the Modern Hindustani Hindi is a Hybrid of Sanskrit, Urdu,Persian, Arabic, Turkish and English. (My own mother Tongue, Persian or Farsi, has the highest contribution to modern Hindi)

I hope you would not be so abusive to Irfan ji. Because it is the questionnaire that Mr. Irfan has prepared ( he has no papers with him were questions are written) so this is a impromptu talk. But I do feel full admiration for Gulzar for giving us optimistic answers which do convey a sense of peace within himself. All his lyrics are meaningful. I have enjoyed more or less 100 %, of this magnificent talk.

मैं सिगरेट तो नहीं पीता पर हर आने वाले से इतना पूछ लेता हूँ कि माचिस है? बहुत कुछ है, जिसे मैं फूँक देना चाहता हूँ मगर हिम्मत नहीं होती।

It is an irony that a beautiful language and heritage like Urdu has been sidelined from all walks of life specially from films even these days titles are not in Urdu. Is it some thing of a vengeance or political vendetta. Can these living legends like Gulzar, Javed akhtar, etc etc take up this subject very seriously and try to revive it and bring it back to those glorious days.
Asker Mirza bro Urdu Hindi Sanskrit punjabi are all lost today unfortunately I was watching Javed Sir's interview in which he said that it is annoying to watch the Urdu and Hindi lyrics people write today as they don't make any sense but just use complex words
One or two persons will not be able to do it. There should be a concerted effort by all Urdu lovers to keep the language in maximum use. How can anyone sideline it? There are too many lovers of this language in this country. But one has to speak it.
Actually Gulzar knows all the facts but just turning his head from the reality and not accepting the truth. Urdu is systematically eliminated since 70 years.

Urdu is the most precise language and Bengali the most sweet language in the world. That is what I was told by my Professor of English Lit. who was a master of the Urdu language. I am a Bengali but my love for Urdu wants to make me soak in the language. It takes you to a different world altogether!!

1.Hindi was Born from Sanskrit (Father)
2. Urdu Nurtured Hindi
(Mother)
3. Urdu itself was Born of Persian
4. Persian itself was Deeply Deeply Enriched from Arabic and Turkish
5. So the Modern Hindustani Hindi is a Hybrid of Sanskrit, Urdu,Persian, Arabic, Turkish and English.
(My own mother Tongue, Persian or Farsi, has the highest contribution to modern Hindi)

Jaise CBSC me kashmeeri zaban ki kavyitri 'Laladya' ki kavita padhai jayi hai.Sab bhashaon ke sahitya ke prati ruchi badgegi toh us bhasha ke prati bhi samman badgega or phir mool bhasha me padhne seekhne ki chah bhi.

A very creative and meaningful interview. Before the entry of Shailendra, Sahir Ludhianavi and Rajendra Krishan in Hindi Films, there was another name who has written meaningful, enjoyable and very popular lyrics was Prem Dhawan. Incidentally, Prem Dhawan was a knowledgeable Music Director also.
