Thank you for this video! You actually do not need a Windows PC, you can download the DVD ISO (after bying it :-)) and mount it directly in Linux. Then you can just copy the needed files (Kickstart ROMs, Workbench ADFs, games...) and put them into the respective folders so FS-UAE will find them.
That is a good point. I only got the msi files when it was gifted from Cloanto, but i believe when you purchase it a downloadable iso is available for Plus and Premium. Not the Value
Flat packs contain all the shared libraries so they will run on any distribution. You can purchase just the Amiga OS 3.2 CD and skip Amiga Forever if you like. (Unless you need 3.1.x because of some game/software incompatibility. )
@@desertfish74 The 3.2 CD contains the Amiga roms (kickstart) for 3.2 only. (3.2.1 & 3.2.2 are updates you can get after registration.) If you need earlier versions of roms, you will need to purchase Amiga Forever.
Your video is great and very informative. I used it to install fs-uae launcher. I did hit a snag that after playing a few games it would crash. I did solve the issue by enlarging the 2nd partition I assume the swap partion using gparted. Everything works great now.
I use mx linux and i downloaded both the fs-uae executable and launcher from their website but for some reason the launcher would not find and execute the fs-uae executable...So i installed the flatpak version and it works perfectly plus both fs-uae and the launcher are included in the flatpak..it saved a lot of fault finding and guessing which libraries etc were missing from the debfile version...
Mikey, I love your channel. I felt all your pain when you threw the Pi 400 into the wall and had to replace it with a German one... But that "Horror" video was fabulous!
I'd really love to see a system boot right into the Amiga OS workbench. I've tried to use the Amiga Forever Live CD to install it but its never worked. It'd be really cool if we could get FS-UAE to just launch on start up and either bypass the Linux desktop or just auto launch with a saved config.
Have a look at my Amilator video. It's a bit old and there has been a newer version since the one i did. It's designed to be run from memory stick but its Linux based and goes straight into a Amiga setup.
Always have to checkout this awesome channel! Did you get a SteamDeck? If you did, or could, it'd be awesome to see a tutorial on that to give the Amiga more lime light. (Though I can probably put it together myself...); PS, never owned an Amiga, but always wanted one. If anyone's selling theirs, I'd pick one up. :)
This is the best channel about Amigas.
Mikey you're the best , best Amiga content.
Happy Christmass
Hvala!

Does that include the kickstart ROMs though?

Nice to see any combination of Amiga and new tech, OS, sw.

Installed but it’s not working. When I start the emulation it doesn’t do anything.

Thank you. It was a difficult to record that one.
Many thanks for your donation! :-)
@@MikeyGRetro Merry Christmas and all the best to you and all your loved ones!
Thank you it was a great help I highly appreciate your video.
are you gonna do a review of Amiga forever 10?
Hopefully, I've contacted Mike at Colanto but not heard back yet.
Could this be done with AROS instead of Amiga Forever?
TBH, you'd get a better experience with AROS and you can run it natively on top of Linux or bare hardware.
There is a usb boot version of this, i have it installed on a Toshiba laptop and when i turn it on it boots up to an amiga 500!
Yep, if its Amilator I did some work on that ages back. Someone else has updated since me. It handy having a bootable Amiga on a stick sometimes.
I used the Amiga forever disk and that loaded all the Rom directly from the shared rom folder.

Do one on amiga emulation on the Mac if you have one.
One day maybe. The last Mac I had was Snow Leopard so it wouldn't help. Watching for Mac Mini M2 :-)
