@@clintn6677 Well, Cavalera Conspiracy is still touring playing those 2 albums. I saw them last year, and now there will be another concert this sunday again. Greetings from Chile...
My Mesa Recto high-gain tone tip: Get a couple decent parametric EQ's (I really like the Empress ParaEQ), run one in front of the amp and one in the fx loop. If you have a mixer you can run the fx loop through one of the mixer channels and use the eq from that (a nice little studio secret if you ever have access to a top-notch console, it's heavenly). In my opinion, when doing this and running el-34's in a recto you can nail everything from modded marshall to old Mark II/III/IV tones and everything in between.
i do the same thing with my 2000's triple rectifier. empress para eq is gold. and of course everything goes through my old carvin mx1644 mixer. actually i use the empress up front before splitting the signal to 3 amps. but even my old Boss GT6 has 4 channels of parametric eq on it. doesn't sound as glorious as the analog empress. but it works too.
@@notsure1135 kinda depends, but usually the Eq at input is cutting some lows and boosting the mids, and with the Empress paraeq it also has a gain boost (+30db!), so I'll slam the input a bit, but a tubescreamer + Eq would work for that as well. The Eq in the loop then kinda depends on how the amps tone controls are set, but maybe cutting lows again and sometimes scooping, or 'sculpting' the mids by cutting a decent amount around the 600hz to 800hz area (for that classic 'tight' thrash crunch tone). The point is to get the midrange frequencies to distort, but keep the low frequencies relatively undistorted, because that's where the 'mush' comes from. Honestly though, a recto sounds amazing on its own once you're pushing about 120db through a 4x12, but with judicious use of Eq great non-flabby tones can be had at any volume. Another tip for these amps, and any with very sensitive and interactive tone controls is instead of playing, adjusting the knobs, and then playing some more, play while adjusting the tone controls, even just palm muted chuggs on the open E while you're adjusting the knobs can save tons of time.
Very, very envious after hearing your story man. I remember being 15 and eagerly awaiting the arrival of Sepultura in New Zealand so they could play at the Big Day Out festival. Instead of that, Max left the band and they never came

Yep, 95. I saw that same show in Phoenix Arizona. Prong and Sepultura kicked ass and by the time Pantera got on most people were exhausted from head banging and being out in the sun all day. Phil was yelling at the audience to stand back up because so many were chilling out in the grassy Knolls
The Atlanta show was at a covered amphitheater (Lakewood) so the heat wasn’t bad. We had the opposite happen; Tommy Victor kept telling people he was gonna beat their ass if they didn’t stand up & by the time the boys hit the stage it was fucking madness. Fuck yeah!!! A little off topic but the drum toms in schizophrenia and beneath the remains have a unique sound at times, idk if any one of you have ever noticed. Maybe it’s Sepultura, maybe it’s Brazil.
You have to try both ways. Different amps react better to different combos. It may even sound better in the loop etc. So you have to swap. One way may be better for stoner rock, the other may be better for tight thrash etc.
@@CIRCLEOFTONE then it's in the pickups. you're close but arise sounds different. maybe a but more gainy, muddy if you will. could be the effect of the emg's and duncan distortion combo. beneath the remains was quite dry tough, but killer. emg's aren't worth the slack they sometimes get.

Obviously there's other factor's like what the person was using with it and what shape its in but It's good to know what some of the good one's are because I trust your ear!
I haven't been recommended your videos in months I had to manually search you because I almost thought you quit. Fuck youtube.
Yep. My channel is dead. I suppose I should look at it as a badge of honor that I'm blackballed and deranked. They even unsubbed my own wife from notifications and she likes and watches every vid of mine.
Most handy for the studio I imagine
I enjoy your life stories even more than explanations of guitar tones.
The pedal sounds similar to Metal Zone. The same sharp sound.
I love the metal zone, but that's a bit more harsh in the fizz. Glad you like my stories of the underground. Haha.
Haha I've been playing songs from Beneath The Remains and Arise this past week since getting a KSR Ceres. What a coincidence
I simply cannot get a G12-t75 to sound that clear. What I like about the V30 and Eminence Texas Heat is I can put a mic in front of the speaker and it just sounds pretty good. Any tips for placement on a 75?
Yep. Get one that has a grill on the center of the magnet. Rare but worth it. You probably have a Chinese one. Really old English ones are much better. Same goes for v30. Check out my Instagram for my mic positions.
That story is awesome 😂😂
Which song are the riff at 06;10 from? It´s a great one!
(I am not a Sepultura listener... just in case...)
Thanks man! That's one of my own riffs.
@@CIRCLEOFTONE WOW, congrats, it is a really great one, IMHO! \m/
Beneath The Remains is such an awesome awesome album, I wish it could be re-recorded and remixed with better sound
it sounds great as it is. It was produced by Scott Burns. It's Schizophrenia and Morbid Visions that need the remixing and remastering.
Nice! Nice guitar too, that's the Tokai VC-75 I take it? Vivian Campbell signature, 27 frets. Basically a Rand knock-off.
Exactly. Love it.
FUCK YES!
Fuck yeah!!! A little off topic but the drum toms in schizophrenia and beneath the remains have a unique sound at times, idk if any one of you have ever noticed. Maybe it’s Sepultura, maybe it’s Brazil.
I know that they refused to use a click track.
CIRCLE OF TONE. Those guys were born to rule late 80’s early 90’s thrash/death metal
Where should I put this pedal in my signal chain, before or after my overdrive?
You have to try both ways. Different amps react better to different combos. It may even sound better in the loop etc. So you have to swap. One way may be better for stoner rock, the other may be better for tight thrash etc.
Is it possible that like obituary and celtic frost that sepultura rolled the tone knob on the guitar off because it sounds like it on chaos ad
Would have been cool to hear the pedal through the Mesa.
So wut were you playing in the picture? A charvel?
Tokai VC75.
Could you maybe do a tone video on sultans of swing studio version. Or just mark Knopfler in general?
Funnily enough I did Dire Straits in an old video that was so bad I deleted it. Great call btw. Challenge accepted.
How fucking loud were those Laney AOR series II amps back then?
Yep. I think mine is a linebacker though. Solid state. And it was loud. I used it with a zoom 9002.
Good story mate.
How about the gibson play authentic thing? i wanna hear your opinion!
"Come to Brazil!"
Would love to. Check out some BJJ.
Same here! And Formula 1 if it fits the schedule :-)
as far as i recollect. duncan distortion on max part, emg on kissers part...and wait here comes...mesa rectifier, sm57 and v30 speaker for arise.
I was told (by a RUclipsr who asked Andreas) that the Mesa mkii was on both Arise and BTR.
What do you think about this new project called Lokust?
f*ck yes!
Great vid - Question.. Running in the front or in the loop?
In front
Your info on Metallica is incorrect. Mesa PRE, Marshall POWER. Flemming's notes show use of the graphic eq, which wouldn't be available if only the power amp of the Mesa was used.
Yep I got it mixed up
@@CIRCLEOFTONE Good video otherwise!
Scott burns took said he took a Mesa head with him to Brazil.
Did you watch the video? I talked about that.
Did any of your teenage thrash bands ever record ?
Yeah. I have a demo on tape that I need to convert.
Hey! Is your Marshall modded ?
Only with a resonance mod. So extra beef if I need it.
CIRCLE OF TONE. Is that reissue model or the old one ? Cool sound btw, didn’t expect that stock Marshall Plexi with boost in front can sound that much brutal.
@@alexpoyan5788 it's a JMP 2203 style home brew with vintage new old stock components in a modern headshell.
Presets of the bass, mid , treble ?
I tend to have them on 5
hope you make a miliwin ddoleri

Indian skull most likely. All human skeletons came from India for the longest time.
Thinking about it they were probably pulling my leg but it looked legit.
Do a video on Destroyer 666!
Shit now i got to go listen to Arise!
