I’m a sophomore and I have the bass clarinet solo this year for my band’s winter concert. I’m so excited. update! - i killed it i did amazing ❤ i love this spooky entrance 0:03
Cool, I played the bass clarinet solo my 8th grade year and freshman year (my school has 8th graders in the highschool band) Edit: I'm now a senior and I convinced my band director to let us play it again and I once again get the solo!!!
I have to preform tomorrow. 😬 And we only have 20 min periods because of early out.. Lol We only have had 4 days to pretty much learn 3 songs for our concert, and this being one of them.. wish me luck!
This song is fundamentally easy, it truly is musicanship where it’ll get ya. My band performs this overtempo (if you play this song in 1.25x, thats around the tempo we take it), just to keep it engaging to the audience. If you play this at this tempo, you better have clean articulations and incredible dynamic contrast otherwise the audience will get bored.
THATS SICK!!! I would love to do that! I played quads for my school but we only have 3 percussionists rn and 7 during marching band because the middle school comes up forcit
My band had to learn this in less than a week. This is harder thn when the band director changed the Marching Arrangements a week before Trussville (MArching Festival)
Playing this for a concert next week. We got some new lights for the auditorium a couple months ago and the crew is putting together a light + fog machine show as a finale to the concert- gonna be so cool-
our band is doing this as well, it really isn't that hard, except that percussion is in a different class from us, so we won't have a lot of time to put it all together
My band is this year. Its insanely difficult, but we are absolutely killing it! I love it so much. The only difference of this one and ours is that we are playing this at a quicker tempo
as a student from GPN HS we have been playing this for 3 years straight once every year at one of our concerts. it is amazing to play and hear the peoples reactions when we play. (im on tenor sax) everything about it is perfect for the ending of a show. Love it!
Wow we just got this as our finale for our winter concert. I'm a lonely first trombone. We only have two trombones and the other guy is on second. I don't even see him beacuse of our wonky school set up this year. I get to meet him the day before the concert. Yay. 😂
As a flute, I hate this song with a passion. We are playing it this year in band (I’m a freshman) and the scales at the end and the trilled high g make me want to jump of a cliff
My band (our 8th grade) is playing this with the high school band, and I’m friends with the two high school bass clarinets, so we will all have that solo together.
This song is amazing. My band is playing it tonight. I’m the mallet percussion and chimes. No, not part of it. I am the entirety of what I just said. Hard as heck to play, but I’ve nailed it so far. Only tonight will tell if the practice paid off.
I wonder how many people listening to this have heard the original version...
The original version is in a different key
Johnny & faster
They have to right?
Same
i had to play this piece in eighth grade (as a flute player) this piece is beautiful but is a living hell to play
Maddi Boyle tbhhhhh
I played this in eighth grade on clarinet and it was just rough
i’m playing this my 8th grade year (current) as a euphonium player
Timpani is easy on this as a freshman
Freshman as a flute
Bass Clarinet has a great part in this!
I like pop tarts to

I’m the only bass clarinet in band and I gotta play the first part all alone
I Feel bad for my bass Clarinet player
@@zsation240vods8 why

I have to preform tomorrow. 😬 And we only have 20 min periods because of early out.. Lol We only have had 4 days to pretty much learn 3 songs for our concert, and this being one of them.. wish me luck!
I had to play this for my Christmas concert (as a trumpet) and it is hella beautiful
This song is fundamentally easy, it truly is musicanship where it’ll get ya. My band performs this overtempo (if you play this song in 1.25x, thats around the tempo we take it), just to keep it engaging to the audience. That’s because in the string orchestra version of this song and the original song is 188bpm, idk why it’s 160
1.25 sounds like living hell for trombone players
I feel sooo bad for the people with the triplets at the end at that sped up speed
Played this for my winter concert :D trumpet
Respect for bass clarinet.
2:49 "Go to war" the low brass and trumpet section leaders said. The low brass always fought hard, but the trumpets always won the fight.
Got the xylophone, bells, and crotales part, so this has been a lifesaver!! Love this song!
I’m in high school with the quads part to an all percussion cover of this, and it’s the hardest piece of sheet music I’ve ever attempted to play
THATS SICK!!! I would love to do that! I played quads for my school but we only have 3 percussionists rn and 7 during marching band because the middle school comes up forcit
I’m glad I’m bass clarinet bc we pretty much have a solo at the beginning but it’s oct 4th and we have yet gotten the music 😬
My band had to learn this in less than a week. This is harder thn when the band director changed the Marching Arrangements a week before Trussville (MArching Festival)
The Bat Child my class had like a month and a half and even then there were some problems (I'm trombone btw so I didn't do too much)
The Trussville marching Festival is one of the most stressful competitions.
Playing this for a concert next week. We got some new lights for the auditorium a couple months ago and the crew is putting together a light + fog machine show as a finale to the concert- gonna be so cool-
My band has to do this
Couldn't be that hard...
our band is doing this as well, it really isn't that hard, except that percussion is in a different class from us, so we won't have a lot of time to put it all together
We are playing this song also for band. I play 1st Trombone part.
Avigail Estrada 2nd Clarinetust ova here
My band is this year. Its insanely difficult, but we are absolutely killing it! I love it so much. The only difference of this one and ours is that we are playing this at a quicker tempo
I wish the band at my school sounded this powerful, we're doing this song for a concert next month.
And I'm the only violinist in the band, but one of two in the district who are in the music program.
as a student from GPN HS we have been playing this for 3 years straight once every year at one of our concerts. it is amazing to play and hear the peoples reactions when we play.

Yay. 😂

This band is amazing
we’re playing it next thursday (12/9) and the beginning band asked how we do it, since we’re in advanced.( we learned in less than a week and a half )
My band (our 8th grade) is playing this with the high school band, and I’m friends with the two high school bass clarinets, so we will all have that solo together.
I'm currently playing the trumpet part on my tenor sax (my community band only has 4 people so we play different parts). It's really fun to play!
That is so cool
I played last year and played Baritone Sax part. My band won't do it this year since the 7th grades can't pull it off. :(
I Freaking half to play this on baritone
