Makes me want to pull out my trumpet and start playing again. Last time I took it out, we had a new puppy who'd never heard me play before. He got so scared he peed on the carpet! 🤣 (Actually back in the day I was a good trumpeter....it had just been a long time since I'd played then.....) 😉
I'm glad I started practicing my trumpet again after many years not playing it. When ready to perform again I joined a community orchestra and finally a symphony. You may consider doing that too !!
Wonderful to hear these glorious carols played by the brass instruments. I have always appreciated the music the Salvation Army musicians perform. One must have tough lips and cold feet to play in the ‘bleak midwinter’. God bless them. 🎄Merry Christmas!🎄
Impossibly smooth! Stitched together a lot of takes and used way more compression that classical recordings usually do so it can be played in the backround without big dynamic changes. :)
Glad you enjoyed it! I wish the players were that good, but there was a lot of editing after recording, stitching together many takes and keeping only the cleanest and most in-tune notes!
@@coffeematt I'll humbly admit you had me fooled, then; the articulation and timbre of a few of these had me convinced that this was a particularly good digital sound font. Bass trombonist here, not ashamed to admit I was wrong. As much as I wish there was that deep rumbling that you can only really get with a tuba or bass 'bone, I really love these arrangements.
I played in the SA Band for many years.... Caroling was always a firm favorite (Christmas Praise Series) I am still a Salvationist - will always be -- just prefer my timbrel lol
Coffee Matt 1hour of Christmas carols for brass Quartet this is awesome Christmas 🎄 is my favorite time of year playing Christmas music 🎶 🎵 😀 my friend 🎄 🎅 😀 ❤️
¡ Hermoso! Todos los himnos navideños clásicos que me gustan están aquí , lo disfruto,me acerca a lo Celestial, a mi Señor y Redentor Jesucristo. ¡ Gracias ! ❤
I've known for years that Americans and Brits sing "Away in a manger" to a different tune, but never before heard an alternate tune for "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem". A quick google tells me that's another UK/America difference. Beautiful tune and arrangement!
Yeah, when Ralph Vaughn Williams was editing the English hymnal in 1906, he liked the text of the American tune "On Little Town of Bethlehem", but thought the melody was dumb, so he wrote his own version. :)
....wow, I'd forgotten that our hymnal had both versions in it. (Protestant and from the Upper Midwest) I prefer the other version, as it's the one we usually sang. How neat to hear this version here!
Very nice job. Accomplishes your goal admirably. The only one I seriously questioned any of your arranging decisions was on the Coventry Carol. And it's pretty much impossible to find two arrangements of that that have any agreement over when to play certain notes natural or sharp in that one! Thank you. So glad i happened upon this. Truly an unexpected Christmas gift!
4:36 WOW y'all sure rough on the brass😂😅. But appreciate all the instruments in praising the Lord. Synthetic or not it's praise to HIM and HE is certainly WORTHY of All THE PRAISE people. Enjoy your Christmas.❤❤ ❤ Be happy and joyful!!!
Amazing, excellent to get into to holiday and christmas mood. This is so much better than a lot of commercial pop songs.... Exceptions are there of course 🎄🎇🎄
Never thought about the difference in brass and other instruments playing Christmas music. These players are VERY good. Their arrangments are very complimentary.
Glad you enjoyed it! I wish the players were that good, but there was a lot of editing after recording, stitching together many takes and keeping just the cleanest and most in-tune notes!
Very nice! Coffeematt you should check out the Moravian Lower Brass Christmas CD from the Moravian Music Foundation if you like Christmas songs by the brass. It’s a different experience with all lower brass. Very beautiful and mellow…
@coffeematt I have in my possession, the world's oldest known 16E mellophonium. It was made in March, 1956 and was the 3rd one made. No one has beaten my serial number. I have a few recordings on RUclips. If interested, just type in my name.
28:05 some folks are going to be running around talking about, what's that noise???? Because they didn't know what the brass sounded like.😂😅😂😂 . when The LORD returns.😂😅😅😅. P. S. The Angels are going to be making some brass announcements with the brass also. 😅😅😂 Don't you Know. Marry Christmas.
Thanks! The arrangements are all available for free download in PDF and MuseScore format here: moscowcoffeereview.com/simple_brass/simple_christmas_brass/
There is an extreme "sameness" to the tonal quality of the instruments that doesn't vary with the dynamics. Real instruments do. Sounds like a synth to me.
@@BobBeverage Hi Bob! You're right that they sound very uniform. This is due to how it was recorded and mixed. Each instrument was done separately, with the final take being a combination of the best phrases stitched together from 4-5 takes each. I also compressed everything a LOT more than classical recordings typically are, so the dynamic range is pretty narrow so a listener wouldn't ever feel the need to adjust the volume up or down. It's intended to be played in the background.
You wouldn't be very impressed if you heard me play live (especially on French horn). Sooooo many bad takes and fracked notes were discarded in the making of this. Anyway, thanks for listening! @@BobBeverage
As a brass player (euphonium) i can ony say this is a big fake show. The music is completely synthetic. There is not one single brass instrument in the recording. blame on you.

Oh no! We have a puppy in the house right now and I'm sure glad he doesn't do that! 😬
I had a dog howl at me once after i played following a long lay off!
I'm glad I started practicing my trumpet again after many years not playing it. When ready to perform again I joined a community orchestra and finally a symphony. You may consider doing that too !!
Even though I'm a violinist, I have to admit you cannot beat brass playing Christmas music..
Now that's a genuine compliment! 🙂
The Trumpet section thanks you.
Violin is very heart warming too though.

I love Brass Music. It is great for Christmas. This presention is lovely. Really enjoyable. Thanks.😅😅
Glad you enjoy it!
Love the pure sounds of brass instruments, especially playing Christmas Carols. So enjoyable. Thank you!
Bless you - this is such beautiful pure music. Drawing me to worship Emmanuel, God with us
Yeah great job.The world has been so loud recently so this is as silent as skating on pure beautiful ice! 🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻 Merry Christmas 🎉
Even though I played cello and performed many quartet concerts, I love brass ensembles for their pure sound and the beautiful blending of the voices.
I love strings too (and also play double bass), but playing Christmas music in a brass quintet when I was young is one of my best memories. :)
This is fabulous. I can listen over and over to this…
Love this brass Christmas music. So worshipful.
Glad you enjoy it.
It's easy to work with this on in the background and much better than the pop versions pumped into stores ad nauseum.
It's intentionally arranged to be background friendly. :)

We owe the SA a lot for keeping brass bands going!

Brass bands sure are a lot of fun. My son is old enough to play with me in them now too.
First snow on the ground here in the Great Midwest. This is perfect music for the mood of the day!

I think the cornet or flugelhorn would be a better choice for Christmas carols than a trumpet, but still enjoyable nonetheless.
Agreed! I'm hoping to record a second album of hymn arrangements this coming year (2025), and am going to try for milder and less processed sound.
