What amazes me is the constant corrections on the stick and throttle to keep the aircraft on its approach path. Naval aviation is simply amazing and the brave individuals who do this for a living are absolute legends. Thank you for posting this!
Yep and in good weather, just imagine a storm and high seas with a pitching deck.
@@darktoadone5068 at night!
It is more pronounced in lower speeds, all inputs need to be much bigger in order to register anything, so it looks very erratic
Amazing footage! thank you! The lack of music makes it even more intense and enjoyable, thank you again just for that!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great footage and also thanks for not putting music on!
Wow! It took 5 years post retirement to see these! It was great serving with you and VFA-41! The best squadron in the navy!
Same here..78 to 81 machinist mate/PC..good to know Fighting aces are still fighting.
were you a pilot?
@@markhogan9435 '81? were you there during the gulf of sidra shootdown?
Simply fantastic! Thanks for your service and also taking the time to share.
Superb footage, thank you. Such skill, keeping it all in check while you're getting bumped around, trying to land. It never ceases to amaze me. Proud of you Alex & our aircrews ♥️. Greetings again from Scotland!
Great to get a different view of a deck landing, amazing to see all the inputs to throttle and stick too! 👍🏻
Excellent video. Fascinating seeing how active you have to be on the throttle.
What an amazing point of views.
This is just SUPERB!
Millions of thanks for sharing these moments ^^
So fucking awesome. It’s crazy how much input goes into it. All the throttle adjustments is insane
Ditto. I never would have guessed how much the throttle varies on approach. I wonder how much the variance is in percentage.
Thanks for bringing back some content Alex.....
Nice to see that angle.Thank you for sharing. 🇺🇲♥️🇺🇲
Awesome view, thank you for sharing and thank you for your service.
That's a unique point of view on RUclips. Thanks!
Awsome! It's pretty nice that the HSi is visible with the Tacan and the course line.
This is amazing, good job
Fascinated by naval aviation… thanks for sharing
The sea state was super calm, so that’s cool.
The complete lack of room is amazing.
And I thought it was a tight fit in a Cobra.
Cool video. 👍 Thanks.
Love this POV
Thank you for sharing this with us!
Nice landing and cool view point.👍
Insane. Appreciate it. Pretty much how I think I look in the Cherokee 140 ha ha. Can only dream.
Great camera angle and well done for adding music 👍
*not adding music! 👍
Something about flying behind the power curve😬 amazing skills dude. Be safe
Super adrenaline 👏❤️ thank Alex
Awesome! Looked like some smooth stick and throttle
Wow simply amazing to watch 😮
Wow! It was a surprise to see how much throttle management needed to be done during the entire deceleration, and landing processes.
The piloting is amazing, but I'm struck by how you're able to read that kneeboard when it's that blurry!
great perspective.
Awesome with no music. Wish we could hear the comms These pilots are amazing.
Two things that caught my eye: (1) in the groove, course line off slightly (set to BRC but flying 9° FB?); (2) left hand shake when taxiing (NOT nerves! but due to throttle stiction and he's jiggling it for precise control). Oh, and fingers, left hand, curled to insure idle throttle as needed.
Doesn't "seam" to have a lot of rudder input. Guessing the Hornet takes care of a lot of that coordination digitally? Very cool perspective.
Massive throttle inputs - I presume this was taken pre PLM? Need you back dude!
Coolest job in the world. Thank you for your service.
Thank you for sharing awesome video how in the world can you keep track of what to do with your feet, legs, hands, fingers, eyes etc. yikes, I'm a hospital nurse and feel I'm going in all directions but you guys WOW!
Well Done!
Taxi to park seems to be more stressful than the landing...
amazing how responsive the throttle is.
Hi Alex, could you make a video telling us how long you need to be in the air each time, and what do you do to prevent thirst, hunger or nature calls? Sorry I hope it’s not too weird or anything
Was that the flaps up switch you hit right after stopping? I'm also sure you raised the hook and folded the wings to go hi gain NSW? Lots to do right after trapping
this is awesome
Interesting how you can see him using his foot on the brake pedal to stop on the ship. great vid
amazing! When you land, you say something in the radio? Or your last radio massege is "Hornet ball"?
Tinder,
Is parking more or less stressful than landing? Seeing your left leg push down aggressively reminded me of pushing the brake to the floorboard.
Thank you for your service and best wishes in the future.
Go Heels.
Scott
migmaster00,
Woooowww! Best aviators in the world!!
Just another day at the office. Awesome
It looks busier parking than flying!
Thks.
Awesome👍 ( French navy retired)
It looks like your workload doesn't even lessen after you've trapped. There are a whole lot of things going on just to taxi to your spot.
G'day from down under, wow, that is sum awesome skills, never realised that ya need to move the stick an thruster so much in order to land on a potage stamp size moving run way, lol
Lot of stuff going on in that cramped space. Kudos to the men and women of Naval Aviation.
quite the deadzone in that joystick.
It would be SO great to see a day in the life video as a naval aviator from an actual fighter pilot. So does anyone know other fighter pilots Yt’s? Or Sir could you perhaps do a similar video?
Is the speed of the plane changing that much that you have to always be adjusting the throttle upon approaching the carrier?
Alex... As always... Very cool footage. THX! A lot like air refueling...endless little inputs and corrections in all 3 axes. I always told my students, "When you're the pilot you're NEVER a passenger. MAKE the jet do what YOU want it to do.". Ha. Cool also to see the boat's prop wash getting stronger as you approach the boat and the bow waves to come into view... Looks like very nice, calm, daytime conditions. Fly safe buddy!! :) Randy C-17A
Is that an elevator trim toggle being played with by the thumb on the stick?
Hey Alex quick question, I was wondering why you became an naval aviator(fighter pilot). It looks like a really interesting career but why did you pick it?
Приветствую тебя Алекс благодарю за прекрасное видео желаю успехов
When you see a professional doing their job they make it look so easy.
What's gnarlier? The Trap or taxiing near the edge?
He must be strapped in the seat very tight, I expected him to move forward more than he did, when the tailhook/cable arrested him.
Fantastic fantastic 😄😄❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What are the buttons he's pushing on the stick?
did you go to the naval or aeronautical academy to stay in portaeri?, if i'm in italy could i go to the us? if i do the pozzuoli academy?
Just noticed the red countermeasures button gets bumped a lot as you adjust the throttle. Is there danger of it getting set off?
No, It has to be armed and hit with the fist.
@@AlexBowman_Ventures Thanks.
Is this before PLM? Also, at 0:58, are you turning ATC off?
Yes, before PLM. Cage/uncage VV
love this viewpoint
I would say the F/A15 is one of the best fighter jets
How does the pilot operate the nosewheel to taxi the F-18 to its parking spot on deck ?
Rudder pedals!
Are you flying an F/A 18 Legacy or an F/A 18 Super Hornet in this video?
This is a super
Busy hands!
hi so i am canadian and i really want to be fighter pilot am i able to go into the usn
Go NAVY!
i get anxious with all the diddlefvcking you gotta do to the controls just to keep it on course 🤣
VFA-41
brb, about to fire up MSFS and try to land on the carrier
Hello Sir Alex , I imagine that it must be a bit difficult to learn to fly a war plane as opposed to a commercial plane , I like videos whit music better 🎶🎵🎼🎵🎶 Good luck that you are very well a hug ❤
You guys are not exposing too much? Procedures, panels, dashboards, nature of operations..??
NG CVW NINE Tip of the spear folks.
Super Alex ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️
🇺🇲♠️ Aces Baby! First to Fight, First to Strike!
😎 cool !! What was the reason for knee Board focused out !! Oh!! It was a TOP SECRET MISSION.!!!! LMAO 🤣 🤣 🤣
Is that a wedding ring on your left hand?
It's amazing!!
(≧∇≦)b
מאוד דומה , כמו בMIG 29 , אותו מיקום של ידית המצערת וההיגוי
No sweet spot on the throttle?..looks like idle then kind of pumping to catch every slight settle??...wow
Are gloves not a mandatory PPE for yall? Awesome camera angle of control inputs as well as marshalling. Walk those throttles!>
Looks easy it does not.
No gloves? I thought they were compulsory flying PPE.
Why are people like you so obsessed with the glove policy?
Thought you were going to be a dentist?
Easy
Wait... Providing they were sewn properly, we (80s NavAir) were allowed to cut the finger tips out of our gloves... but you don't have to wear gloves at all?? Tell me you still have brown boots...
Gloves have to be worn on the flight deck. “Have” to be worn in a single seat or two seat jet is another story. Most commanding officers have better things to do than try to enforce and unenforceable policy in a single piloted aircraft. Yes, we are supposed to wear gloves and yes we still wear brown boots. Gloves come back on prior to opening the canopy.
NATOPS ---- flight gloves with sleeve down.....
…
who knew that gloves would be such a touchy subject...
I thought fighter pilots wear gloves.
