To a landing pilot it's not a crowded flight deck. He has the same landing space that he would have if the carrier has NO planes on it. For the deck crew who has to spot the landing aircraft to a parking spot somewhere, the deck IS pretty damned crowded. A salute to ALL you Naval Aviation people, whether you're airborne or ground-based crew.
I love flying my Vans RV4 ... I get to choose when, why and how. I only fly in "easy" flight weather and conditions... These Navy Pro's have to operate , fight and fly in the most adverse, difficult and adverse conditions imaginable...! Love these guys/Gals....! Go USA...! Cheers.
My father was a Naval Aviator in Korea and Vietnam. Flew a Skyraider off the “Conny” and the Princeston. I went the other direction and after college became a Navy EOD diver. We constantly got into arguments about who had more fun! 🫡 dad. Miss ya.

American soldiers and military or second to none in this world. These pilots are so highly proficiently train. It’s sickening the precise landings the dedication to their job. These are Americans true heroes.
I agree. Very confident. Some people think that is being cocky but it is not. When you fly on the edge, you had better know what you are doing. Very few do overs.
Every time I watch these pilots -- I've lost count -- it blows my mind. I have no idea what it takes, but I'm sure as hell blessed that they're doing it.
The Ranger was not the first to carry aircraft. The Langley, CV 1, was. The Lexington, CV 2 and the Saratoga CV 3 both carried aircraft and fought in the Pacific. The Ranger was CV 4 and stayed in the Atlantic. It was deemed to small and slow
With Russia's demonstration of its hypersonic missile, all this training is useless, as an aircraft carrier can be destroyed in a matter of hundredths of a second. This is the end of the era of Large aircraft carriers.
Truly Amazing, Beautiful!! Let us not forget the Ground Crews that keep these aircraft in the air and the crew's safe. Just as important as the Pilot's and Navigator / Missile Experts. The F/A 18 has auto-pilot landing. It's so precise, they had to squelch it, or the tailhook would wear a hole in the flight deck, because it would land in the exact same spot, every time. Pilots tend to turn it off, so they can get the thrill of landing. Also, when they are on the cat, they have to show the flight deck their hands. The jet nav system is in control until the bird gets a short distance off the flight deck. If pilot doesn't take controls, the plane will circle the carrier, and until it is activated to land again. They are NOTHING like the F-14. F-14 was 100% pilot operated. The F/A 18 is a manned drone...all it is.
The first purpose built carrier keel to be laid was British, though the Japanese were the first to launch a carrier. Also the invention of the steam catapult and angled flight deck were British. The yanks were playing catch-up.
Are you bragging or bashing ? One thing you didn't mention is that c.c. mitchell copied the steam catapult system the Germans used to launch their V1 missiles !

How many times a day do pilots / aircraft get worked during an average day. And what do pilots do when they are not flying when on the boat. I cant imagine they sit around. Are they always practicing. I like to think they are always buzzing around the skies doing stuff. Same as the ground based aviators.
Can someone please explain to my dumb brain “the landing pilots have 4 arresting wires but are expected to snag the second of third wire” ? Edit to add: time stamp 4:44
Once launched, he gone. Up into the God knows where, all that is left now is a safeful landing return. Where did you go and what did you see? Heck if I know.
With Russia's demonstration of its hypersonic missile, an aircraft carrier is no longer a very safe place, it will be easily destroyed with all the equipment and people on board.

Thank you everyone serving in the military, we appreciate your sacrifice 🙏
And I thank you 🙏, 197th infantry brigade
Piece of cake in calm seas during the day. When the wind is howling and the deck is rolling at night, it is an entirely different story.
That’s when these ding bats go land on a land based runway with no cross wind
I worked on the flight deck 69-70. Very very dangerous place. F-4J , VF21. I loved every minute of it.
They Are The Skilled … may God Protect them from what is coming

Such amazing skill. And courage
Fantástico o video.
Parabéns
That gives the term "Being under arrest" a whole new meaning!😅
Deck might be crowded but the landing area isn't. Unless it it then it's a foul deck. But landing on the carrier is in the T&c

I suppose the snagging wire needs to be a specific height from the ground to avoid the risk of MAAS snagging the wheels rather than the hook?
God bless and protect o❤ur amazing military.

The first aircraft carrier was HMS Argus in 1918. The British invented the aircraft carrier in WW1

Flying Pipers and Cessnas in years past, these guys have big brass gonads and guts of iron…..don’t think I could do what they do on carrier.
This is how we do it in the USA Baby

Now let's see how good they are at night with a pitching and rolling deck! My guess there is a lot of aborts!

I read that among 4 arresting wires, the pilots shoot for the 3rd wire. And that pilot caught the 3rd wire.

I'm not a pilot, but it's probably easier to land an $80 million dollar jet than an $80 dollar jet.
Yourr video comes across as if this is a difficult task for the pilot. It is a regular occurrence in their life.

As much as I like having some things explained to the public isn't there some little points here that the US would not like their enemies to know?
