I'm first one! I did not know that about the guitar intro BUT I always thought it sounded a 'bit odd' - to me it did not sound like what Page would play or expected to play. Love the walk around the baseball(?) park - it looks a nice day. Love Paul Rodgers singing.
Me too! A few years later I got into Led Zeppelin and then a couple years later found out that JP was on Radioactive. You can hear JPs b-bender on that album too.
Very cool 👍 ill second satisfaction guaranteed!!!! I remember trying to learn it back in the 90's but couldn't finish it.. great content!!! Love it 🙏🕊️✨
I actually missed the concert with the Firm in the 1980s . As a teenager myself ,I was working so I wouldn't be homeless. I have both of their only albums together with the Firm. Being a big Jimmy Page fan I tried to collect as much of his material as I could .
Excellent analysis & dissection as always 👍 "Demented Dissonance" is what I've always called it. Jimmy is no stranger to it either... Bow Solo - any time, during any era the F# E C triplets in Heartbreaker and before that, in live versions of How Many More Times - Speaking of which, he would also do this E Bflat Eoctave thing at a certain point during the early part of How Many More Times live the flat5 sharp11 chord during No Quarter and then the climax of the Dazed & Confused solo just before re-entry during the tail end of the solo- when the camera is spinning round and round in the movie illustrating the dementia in the music Many such cases It stands to reason that everyone just assumed that was Jimmy's idea in radioactive It was completely within character- wasn't it? This is news to me and I'm a long time, O.G. Jimmy / Zep fan from way, way back Rogers brought in the initial part and it had a slower tempo Jimmy doubled the tempo and also brought in the prechorus section The chord parts for the verse are very similar/ exact to Becks Bolero IMO And the nasal sounding "radioactive" during the chorus wasn't done with EQ. Paul was singing into a long metal pipe with a mic on the end to get that sound
Okay. Make that, last comment. And I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW!! But I got a free copy of COVERDALE/PAGE!! And with today's music....... Jimmy's work throughout that long CD is astonishingly layered & sophisticated it grows on you with every listen! Biggest shout out for 1982 DEATH WISH Ii soundtrack!! Definitely hear some early OUTRIDER on here!
I remember listening to Alexis Korner working as a DJ on the radio as a kid (late at night). It was clear that he was cool (playing Dr John records every night) but not clear to me at the at the time just how cool. Otherwise I'd have paid more attention.
I like the walk and talk. I really like that telly. I traded mine that was exactly like that for a strat. Then the strat for a telly custom. At the time I could only afford one guitar at a time. The S.G. you traded some guitars for has a great tone for you to do S.W.L.A B.R. ( She walks like a bearded rainbow) from Cream's Disraeli Gears album. You already did a magnificent job on another Cream song with an acronym N.S.U.( non specific urethritis). From Fresh Cream . Thanks Doug always informative, and great guitar work, and dedication.
Another great video. The first time I heard Radioactive on the radio, i thought "that solo is just like the Green Eyed Lady lick!" Check out the full-length version (6:50 in length). You will hear that descending pattern, starting on the 12th fret, at 2:34.
Dreaming is a tony franklin composition. Hands down the best song the firm ever did. The song is in open G tuning. Tony played all the rhythm guitars on it except the solo. Pagey did the solo and guitar fills on a strat
hey...that's novel...never heard that before (sadly) but in the 80s guitar music had more or less dissapeared from the mainstream radio..... and at that time i had sold my guitars and equipment by then....(until my restart 15 years ago...)...haa...
Awesome choice!! Saw them in concert in New Haven,Ct. Jimmy played his solo in a laser pyramid and he was a bit toasted but band was awesome!!
I tried to figure that out for hours (in the 80s) and never did. Thank you

Great choice! My brother had this record when I was a kid. Had no idea PR played it. That album was my intro to Jimmy Page actually lol
Me too! A few years later I got into Led Zeppelin and then a couple years later found out that JP was on Radioactive. You can hear JPs b-bender on that album too.
While you are at it, check out the slide solo in "Satisfaction Guaranteed". It is amazing.
hell yes, forgot about that song too
I saw those guys touring that album here in England.. Awesome two total legends.. Tony was so young, he'd played with Roy Harpers band in his teens...
very robert fripp, larks' tongues in aspic.

The Firm was a great album imo by Paul Rogers and Jimmy Page. I still have it on vinyl. Nice 12 Ft ♪♫♪♫♪
I remember the week it came out..it didn’t blow anybody away because Zep was still fresh..but its a good record..
I enjoy the new walking action clips of you outside walking.

Now I’m Wondering if Page did the Solo on Stairway ? Haha-Cool Vid !
Excellent analysis & dissection as always 👍

Ahh! I thought I heard Paul Rogers say he played that in an interview!

Wow!! I Think Randy Rhoads did the same thing on the tribute album.

Yep swablr is on the list for sure
I like the intro you did on this video, it made for a great segue to your usual musical intro! Keep 'em coming, my man!
Great vid. I guess that explains why Page got the hump when you asked him a while back.

Finally got to the bottom of it, great job.
I simply refuse to believe this came out 40-years-ago! .. (Incoming existential crisis)
same. I still have this filed in my brain as "new Jimmy Page stuff"
@@12footchain same for me with anything after Signals is New Rush stuff :)
i LUV this song, another gr8 choice
funny, I remember doing that finger exercise back in 73' when I was 16.🙂
The same sounding phrase is used in Don Henley's 'Dirty Laundry'. Have a listen to the first solo...
yes you are correct! that is Joe Walsh playing that on solo #1. and then Steve Lukather played solo #2 (didn't use that riff, did his own thing)
Can you do No Rain by blind melon
Dreaming is a tony franklin composition. Hands down the best song the firm ever did. The song is in open G tuning. Tony played all the rhythm guitars on it except the solo. Pagey did the solo and guitar fills on a strat
5:04 very Robert Fripp
Thanks!
Thank you!
On the official music video it is very clearly jimmy page playing the lead
But not on the record. And page played versions of ot live, but not on the record
hey...that's novel...never heard that before (sadly) but in the 80s guitar music had more or less dissapeared from the mainstream radio.....

do Greg Kihn next Breakup Song
Same as green eyed lady lick!!!
For a second I thought this dude was Scotty Kilmer.
While we are at what we are in the NEXT comment, CHECK OUT OUTRIDER 1988! The one album in history NOT on RUclips!! But there are concerts!
Very Fripp-like...
I’d like to know how to play Tear Down the Walls.
