In 1991, Meadows and Poconos were all you could bet on at the Center City Turf Club. Roger Houston was awesome as always. Back then they'd do a ilghtning sound effect when a horse used the lightning lane.
Mark MacDonald is from CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI not "CHOROLETE P.E.I. CANADA" It is a beautiful spot and is home of The Gold Cup and Saucer which he has won three times. You rock Mark!! Congrats on the World Record!!

I HAVE HERD ROGER HUSTON ANNOUNCE MANY TIMES HE WOULD NOT BE DOING THE JUG IF HE WAS NOT FRANK SALVILLE WHO JUST LEFT THE JOB AT POMPANO IS VERY GOOD BUT THERE NO MAN LIKE ROGER
Bolt the Duer!!!!! Great horse but too inconsistant. Mark Macdonald is a good driver and has had some bad racing luck. Very talented. Roger Huston is definitely a legend. Don't think hes the best caller in the sport. That would go to the very classy and great Larry Lederman. Huge fan of Harness Racing and hope it continues in our future.
I was there. These fractions were insane! This though could have marked the end of Dave Pallone’s chance at being a top stakes go to driver. He seemingly can’t bring home the bacon in huge races. Rock and Roll Dance probably the best horse in the field but Palone brings him first over too early. Anyway the best Adios in my opinion. The Meadows misses Roger. Jeff Zittick is boring.
Karloo Mick John Hernan (current Yonkers racecaller) I think his name is. Yonkers had "Bullet" Bob Meyers years ago, and Roosevelt Jack Lee, who wound up at Freehold. I loved the way Jack Lee and Bob Meyers called races, but no idea what happened but know there were problems with Jack Lee. I don't think all the horsemen liked him because he gave them some nicknames they may not have cared for. Fans loved him though. I think he gambled a little too much. Roger Huston is good.....but I only hear him in the Adios. I don't think I could deal with all that "boombox" setting on a daily basis if I lived in Washington PA.....he makes a mediocre race seem like the Kentucky Derby and probably tries harder than any other, but he is the voice of the Adios. The most amazing race callers are in those 30 horse thoroughbred races in Europe!! They have a lot to memorize and call every race. Trevor Denman is the California thoroughbred caller here who I give the nod to. Dave Johnson used to call some of the big races on TV under contract and would do it over the track announcer sometimes.....they all seem to have a big "catch phrase", ie Dave Johnson "And down the stretch they come", Bullet Bob Meyers, "In the stretch, for the finish" (he called with a cadence), and that was also used by Jack Lee.....when I hear a track or announcers name, I can think of what they say, usually to start or finish the race. Love the sport!! Casino's ruined it in New Jersey where I live. Hopefully, the same thing that killed it will bring it back.
Bob Meyer was awful: "They straighten out and drive for the wire: it's Docs Fella on the outside, Millers Scout on the inside....Docs Fella and Millers Scout....Docs Fella and Millers Scout....E RACER IN FRONT!" Jack Lee was cool but Tom Durkin's Meadowlands calls were my favorite before he switched to the flats.
Roger Huston is the WORST race announcer of all time. He lacks the deep bass voice, pacing, and self-control of the great announcers. All he does is SCREEEEEAM! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
He screams to wake up all the old racing fans in the grandstand who take naps between races. Average age of a harness racing fan is over 55. Just a little fact as to why harness racing is dying, because the bettors are antiquated old men ready for the caskets.
I actually am amused and like Roger's calls but sometimes he sounds like he's about to fall out the window of the booth when he gets carried away, which he will even do in a cheap claimer. Save it for the big races.

Why would dave palone pull at the half with the favorite? lol, he's just asking to lose..
Ciays he pulled once he saw the quick first quarter of 25.1, if he sits he would've been 4th on the rail, he was hoping the speed would quit.
who is the horse announcer
thats fast!

Larry Lederman is a terrible race caller and he also scammed the public for over ten years with his fake cancer nonsense. He sucks.

They only fix the races that are cheap. Horse that races the same track every week. Taking turns. Killing harness racing.
