3:45 The cavalry spam is a FC addition. The vanilla game saw you fight a buttload of armors, who are actually quite bad and easy to massacre.
FE5 is a game where you read stats, inventories and weapon effects in lieu of actual dialogue, like with the Beo Sword situation.
There are other cases in the game as well. The game treats things like proc skills, movement stars and poison status effect as things that are very scary. While poison honestly does way less damage than it should, its less of taking a ton of damage and more of the idea od getting poisoned being very unappealing, since Antitoxin is expensive and the status doesn't wear off. Likewise, while Adept has a small activation rate, and killer weapons can be negated with scrolls, to the average soldier, they are deadly menaces because who would want to risk a 10% chance of dying outright? This is how the game shows that the random mercenaries in Ch16B are experienced and powerful; they have all sorts of deadly weapons and skills to give them an edge - the player can play around it, but if an army of green units were to clash with them, they'd come out on top. Likewise, Dvorak and Eichmann, two generic bosses with zero dialogue, can be read as being powerful and scary - because they have Adept and Movement Stars - they are enemies that can suddenly end your life out of nowhere. Nicaraf's army of armor knights that while have mediocre stats, have movement stars, which help them be established as an elite force or at least superior to all the random armors you face throughout the game - with Saias on the field, they really do feel like a professional army that perfectly capable of crushing you in a heartbeat.
The character whose story Linoan is set to mirror is Cigyn, who is Arvis' and Deirdre's mother. Linoan just like Cigyn is married/promised to another man whom she doesn't really love (Victor/Arion), and ends up falling in love/having an affair with another man (Prince Kurth/Dean).
Linoan having minor Naga blood is interesting plotpoint, because it makes her a kind of a fail-safe so to speak for the Jugdral universe. Incase Seliph and Julia, the other people with Naga blood, which is needed to kill Loptus, fail in killing Loptus and kick the bucket she can keep the Naga blood alive and possibly restore it.
The aforementioned Dean/Arion plotline is even step up for this "restoration" plan. Just like with Cigyn and restoration of loptur blood, Linoan is setuped to had a two children with different fathers (in Cigyn's case Deidre and Arvis), who in turn inherite the minor blood, get together, and ended up having a child with Major blood. Linoan is in the same position as Cigyn except with Naga blood instead of Loptus blood. (Incest creates a demon dragon, now it is also going to save Jugdral by create a divine dragon) 🤔.
And personaly I can kinda see Lewyn/Forsety pulling the string on Linoan's children getting together, in desparation or "for greater good" after Seliph's campaing failing. Kinda like what Manfroy did pulling the strings with Arvis & Deirdre.
This possible plotline doesn't really go through in Thracia 776 since there is no need for the Naga blood restoration plan in the Tharcia timeline since Seliph and Julia are alive, and the credits suggest that they succeeded in defeating Loptus without problems. Still it is kinda intresting dynamic.
This is mostly just speculation, but there's no way Kaga just put minor Naga blood for a character who just so happens to mirror Cigyn in almost everyway, by accident. 😅
Interesting theory. Personally I always believed that Lionan and Deen were made to be a modified version of Nyna and Camus.
@@eleonorepb4565Oh I can kinda see that too. I am sure there is some of that DNA mixed in there too. Kaga likes his parallels. Eldigan has some Camus DNA too but in a different way.

There is this curiosity in me than thinks Linoan can sit alongside Leif as MC status in a hypothetical FE5 remake in an Alm and Celica kind of way, and not hard to see why to me. They're the same age, have similar circumstances regarding family and the lives they lead, are friends to a fashion, and can serve as foils to one another once they meet up again. (though likely not in the same way Alm and Celica do; I think Leif and Linoan are like-minded enough to not have a disagreement like theirs so soon)
Just a hypothetical, though! At least IS considered important enough to be a bond ring in Engage. |D

i love that they cut arion and altena being lovers only to say altena loves arion. like they chose the person who didnt know they arent related to be in love with the other, not the one who knew they werent

She's definitely one of the more important Thracia characters, I could see her in a banner with Deen, Eda, and then probably a 23rd Reinhardt.

Linoan being a descendant of Heim creates a minor plot hole, as Manfroy should've known about her existence and tried to eliminate her.
I think maybe the idea is it wasn't awakened for her, as the bishop aludes to it. Not entirely sure though.
