I loved this video! Watched the entire thing! One of the most important points you make is about the food... Yo! The food in the United States is getting worse and worse every year. Thats why we have so many people with gut health issues, that is linked to obesity, depression and anxiety. Gut health is so underrated and not talked about! Please make more videos about the difference in quality of food in the US vs DR. I'd love to hear how the food has changed your life. Excited to see more!

@@12567NoYouCannot You can find good food anywhere in the US, but have to get VERY intentional about it and spend almost double of what would be your regular food budget. All my family (and myself), and every Dominican I know that travels even for a few months to the US, gains a lot of weight immediately, and it has nothing to do with poverty, these are people basically traveling for tourism and studying. When I go back to the DR my change in health is very noticeable.

Compare a 65-70 year old American to a Dominican of the same age and you'll think they were gym rats all their lives. And, I have a question: If someone is not Dominican or married to someone who is Dominican, are there born and raised or well cultured people, who can help expats? Someone who they can hire to help them navigate government offices/banks etc. That has been my biggest fear LOL. I'm learning Spanish but I don't know if it's going to be enough. Very true what you said about the quality of food in the Dominican Republic. Yes, everthing you eat is 100% organic including the animals and seafood. You can even smell the food as you are walking and the fresh fruits and vegetables. You can get a real coconut water from 70 pesos (one dollar and 10 cents ), big coconuts. Mangos, oranges, and many fruits you can see them in the wild. Yes your health changes once you live in the DR. When I eat rice, beans and meat in USA its okay, but when you eat that in the DR you can tell there is a big difference in the taste. Good video and enjoy your stay in the DR. I do all my shopping in New York, and I ship all the items before I depart to DR. as of today August 2024 in my opinion the most reliable shipping company is "Salcedo Express. one of the things that I like about Puerto Plata is that everything is walking distance if you enjoy walking, and every street ends up in the coastal boulevard (El Malecon) it is one of the safest cities in DR. the whole city only has approximately 8 traffic lights, my may concern is the unrestricted and disorganized moto-taxi 95% of all accident are cause my them.

About 3 years ago I bought a luxury apartment in Los Cacicazgos. It's doubled in value and it's larger than my house in upstate NY. Lol. I am trying to get another couple of properties but they've all gone up in value so quickly. The real estate market is booming here. I do plan to retire there in about 10 years. I'm not Dominican but my wife is. We both suffer from Autoimmune diseases but whenever we're in the DR, our conditions improve and we don't have any symptoms. It's the strangest thing. It's either the food or the radiation back home in NY that's making us sick. Not sure which one it is but certain it's one or the other. It's crazy how much money is coming into the country now.
There is one thing that concerns me though about the DR. I think it's becoming more "Americanized", especially with all the social media, materialism-wealth culture, and cosmetic surgery stuff, etc. I'm afraid that within the next decade or so, the country's morals will come down quite a bit.

    HAPPY FOR YOU!! 🥳🥳
It does sadden me that people (in general-not you) attribute homelessness with not feeling safe. So many videos speak on homelessness almost in a shameful manner, but don’t look at whose responsibility it is to make the life affordable for citizens. Everyone is one life situation away from being homeless. I look at the environment that created the homelessness.
The richest country on earth, home to most of the world’s wealth, should not be having a homelessness crisis. It should not be having an addiction crisis, and it should not have the rates of gun violence that it does. The government should do for the people, otherwise why are the taxes going to them?
Yes, there is a lot of tension and people need to just be better neighbors in America. It’s so toxic in the country. When someone points out a grievance, they should be considered for their points as well, and not disparaged or disregarded. Recognizing an uncomfortable truth can identify a problem before it becomes bigger than it needs to be. There is too much “us versus them” and Americans should work together to make it a livable country for all. 👍🇺🇸

Yes, it just makes me so sad 😞 .
I graduated university, with honors in business. After searching for months, I was offered a job that paid less than $20 a hour. With the amount of student loan debt from university, AND cost of living how is one expected to stay afloat?
Thankfully, I went to university on a “full ride”. However, there are tens of millions who have not been this lucky. Their debt is like a ball and chain that eventually can weigh them down. If you can’t pay rent, you get the boot 🥾. You may turn to poor coping methods while dealing with mental illnesses from the whole situation. Next thing you know someone is passing judgment on what you did or didn’t do in your life, just by glancing at you briefly on the side of the road.
Sorry for the long winded message 😮‍💨. I wish to help and give to the poor. If Jesus is who people claim he was, I think he’d want us to help those in need.

I love them. I have a year here, in my neighborhood everyone loves me. I share, compartir, I show them love understanding, they like me a lot. alway a dominican says to me for exemple" como sta hermano", dios le bendiga, como va la cosa. this makes me feel great, this makes me feel at home. Look at this like white people or other race did, if we put ourselves together will make a change. we are able to change both the narrative and the way "people" see us and look at us. its also depends on your own perception, your own definition about discrimination. my conduct, my speech, my body language determine and influence greatly the way another one may treat me. we don't talk about money, who can resist the power of knowledge? who can kick you out of the conference table when your reasoning goes beyond others, and makes sense. discrimination is every where, but here in DR I can't complain. If I want to end discrimination the way I understand it I have to be me, I must stand for something, represent something, how many times I found people telling me where do you learn spanish? It’s important to explain the difference between the domestic violence you can encounter in the DR to the violence in the US. In New York for example random attacks have become so frequent you cannot simply walk down the street let alone ride the subway without fear. There are alot of mental health services needed to help the community. It’s great to hear the Dominican Republic promises a safer environment.

I don't know if its different now because these stories are from my parents who were born there and lived there up to 20+ years ago but I have heard stories about very corrupt teachers and administrators and circumstances where they would have to go out of their way to get something simple done because these teachers and administrators weren't letting them for some odd reason, and I would not like to put my future children through that, so anything on that would be helpful. I'm surprised you considered Austin not safe, but it's a blue city so I guess it was bound to happen eventually

Brother brother brother.. As a Dominican I thank you for saying good things about our beautiful Dom Rep... But as a Dominican I will say that you need to tone it down with the praises. You are selling an UTOPIA and a lot of people will believe you. As a Dominican I will say that in Dom Rep you are and are treated, by what you have and own. Don't get me wrong, we are very supportive and friendly but money matters too much actually. Public Hospitals and health care is shit!!!! There's lot of mental health problems, suicides, etc due to financial issues. Public schools and education system is shit and the kids are rated some of the worst in the world. People are not chilled and carefree as you portray, quite the opposite, people stress too much with private school fees, medical bills,.... It's just a different country with the bad and the good... You moved back to Dom Rep, because you can afford it for the time being .. But when the honeymoon is over and shit hits the fan, you will have to hustle and work maybe harder than before, to keep up. Rd is a great country, but you are what you have and who you know. 😊😊😊
