  • I recently got the M-Audio Oxygen Pro 49 and decided to make an unboxing video. Within this video I unbox and setup this incredible keyboard controller. I also go over some of the iOS setup shortcomings (not many) and show how I set things up to work for me ☺️ I go through a few apps that work incredibly well with this controller and some apps that don’t and how to deal with them 👍🏻

      @@Fretless33BassWell, especially a YT’r that cares about their fans/subs. I just bought one on eBay, so I’m looking forward to getting it. I have a MAC and was wondering: I’m completely wet behind the ears….so which DAW would you recommend? I’d like it to be user friendly. I run a farm by myself, so don’t have time to fool around trying to figure out how something works. Thank you for all your advice if you have the time to respond. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 BTW, the algorithms like emoji’s 🦋🦋🦋

    Similar deal for me - I bought this controller (the 61 key version) as a late Birthday present for myself a few months ago. Took advantage of a Guitar Center in-store deal that I couldn't pass up (let's just say that I paid less than you did for the 49-key 😁). wasn't open box or anything - the corner of the cardboard seam was just partially unglued; nothing that some clear shipping tape didn't resolve. Anyway, I like it. This is my 2nd M-Audio. My other one is pretty old now (Axiom 25 bought a little over 10 years ago), but still looks and works great; At 25 keys though, it was finally time to step up to something I could use with both hands comfortably. The keys on this one have a decent feel, and I like the extra features - especially the multi-DAW selection. About the problems mentioned by the other commenter, don't know what to say - M-Audio is owned by inMusic - a conglomerate that owns several music brands like Akai, Alesis, Numark, Stanton, and Rane, among others; I guess you know what can happen when smaller companies have to report to a higher authority... Anyway, no problems for me so far.
    Truth be told, I was considering the Roland A800 MIDI controller; no doubt, it's got better build quality, but given the price, not to mention that it's been on the market for a while now, the M-Audio was just the better deal given the price and feature set. I hope you're still enjoying it!

      Thanks for the input! And congrats on your new controller ☺️I also upgraded from a 25 key controller, but 49 keys did the trick for me, I’m a bass player and wouldn’t even know what to do with all those extra keys 😂

    Good video. The Oxygen 49 was my first midi controller I bought in 2011 when I first got into this hobby. I still have it as it's my only keyboard. Odd how it took M-audio 11 years to come out with a Pro version, lol.

      Yes! I have seen the older versions in my quest for the right controller for me…still very good! This Oxygen Pro has been a real step up for me…a real boost in creativity ☺️ Thanks for watching and commenting 🌹👍🏻

    Sorry, but do you need speakers, or are all these sounds coming from the keyboard? I’m
    Completely new to all this. 😢 Thanks 🙏🏼 Also, if I have this keyboard and a good DAW do I need a Boss mkii looping station? I just want to make some calming music to share with nursing home or bedridden people in my area. 🥰 #PayItFoward #GivingBack ♥️

      @@Ranchgoddess that’s so incredible that you want to help people in a difficult situation with your music…I applaud that. Unfortunately you will need speakers, but there’s a lot of reasonably priced units out there. As far as the looping station, that’s more personal choice. Many apps that can be triggered with this keyboard will do looping also.

      @Fretless33Bass  2 месяца назад +2

      Price wise the Oxygen pro is a bit more, but I like the semi-weighted keys and the 16 pads vs 8 (I tend to program a lot of drums). I think the Keylab comes with better software, but I never use that due to the amazing apps I have. So, in short…I recommend the Oxygen Pro ☺️😉

    Thanks for showing us this setup. Do any of the m-audios faders or knobs work in these ios apps? Can you map them? Also curios if you found a way around the hassle of re-selecting the midi controller when you change instruments in aum? Also is cubasis transport controls working yet?

    • @Fretless33Bass
      @Fretless33Bass  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the question…Most of the apps can be mapped. Where I ran into a problem was trying to use it to control my DAW. I use Cubasis 3 and mapping has not gone so well in Cubasis and I haven’t been able to find a work around. The in app keyboards work perfectly, but trying to map sliders and such for recording is not effective.
      As far as re-assigning the MIDI in AUM, you can create dedicated channels for each instrument and not have to worry about it re-assigning the MIDI once it’s done for that channel.
