And something flickered for a minute and then it vanished and it was gone - you never flickered Lou - you burnt brightly and flamed out of this existence into the next! Thanks for many memories Lou!
I had the "New York "album in vinyl, How many times did i listen to it !!! It has been lost and i've got the c.d. now. This song is a "SuperLouReedSong" . thank you for posting this !
Thank you kindly. I guess if I still remember Julliette, there must be a little crack in that ice wall somewhere. Truth be told, she broke my heart so badly, I never did find all the pieces to put it back together and I'm sure I never will. I'm at peace with it and wish her well, where ever life took her.
I moved on, then again, and again and again... I'm dating a pretty sweet chick now, only time will tell what the future holds. She's definitely breaking some walls down. As far as pointing fingers go, neither of us was to blame, just time, growing apart and wanting different things. Sometimes you just outgrow each other.
gracias a Lou tuve una época donde me convertí en escritor y poeta clandestino, y me la creí, jajajajaja Soy pintor y no tan clandestino, gracias Lou, donde quieras que estés!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUniEK
Lou Reed is a cynical, cranky old man, with a jaundiced view of the world & his fellow man; he wants to be like a jazz-singer who doesn't repeat himself & ruins all his old songs when he sings them nowadays; & he never quite got over the fact that he wasn't a R&R poet/idol in the 60s like another Jewish, curly-haired musician who started out in New York like him, named Bob Dylan. Apart from that he's one of the best songwriters ever, an underrated guitarist, & the coolest icon, legend & genius..
I love this! Had this CD when it came out every song is great on there! Thanks for puuting it up. He's so laid back in this seems like he found some peace after all the drugs and hard living.
Very under rated lp ... one my fav lou albums with r n r animal ,lou reed live (rest of r n r animal concert ) coney idland baby , and of course , transformer ... thanks lou ... RIP ..5 must haves .. and take no prisoners for that seedy bar lou ... the master of dark emotional seedy lyrics of real life ... love it ...
This is such a great video....Lou really shows his skills here...and he's just so cool...may he ride eternal, all shiny and chrome...and thank you for posting
@tappacappa lucky girl that you are one of the few people who know about this genious music at the age of 15! it took me 22 years to discover it.... blame my parents!
Beautiful ! Soooo agreed !....NEW YORK (the album) gets somewhat forgotten out there,...and it slides into my 20 approx. of all time! Last Great American Whale, Hold On ! and basically it all !
Poetry. "something flickered for a minute...then it vanished and was gone" A fantastic commentary on maybe how much crap floats abouts in clear water. Me i just listen to the bass and nod along. Genius.
There's a video version called "David Sanborn & Lou Reed Dirty Blvd", another great better live then on record version of his song Dirty Boulavard. Its footage from a concert put on for Lou Reed's B-day. Great sound if you've never seen it. Cheers!
heart broken. you've gone now and nothing good is coming to replace you. if I feel like this, lord knows how Laurie must be feeling. I listen to the velvet underground everyday. spent hour crying listening to sweet jane & candy says. Lou, thought you'd be here forever. Say hi to Nico & Andy for us all, please. Sleep well
Lou Reed stopped doing speed in the late 70s. He got into drinking. The first time that he was quite clean was when he did Growing Up In Public in 1980, and he put on a bit of weight. See videos from that year and check The Power Of Positive Drinking on Growing Up In Public or The Last Shot on Legendary Hearts (1983)...
I've listened to Lou Reed since I was a kid. I saw him live. Never knew he was a toothpick guy. The way he's got it tucked in his mouth makes me wonder if he had one in his mouth when I saw him. In my defense I was pretty trashed. I don't think he was.
@colleenboye THANK YOU, Thank You, Thank You!!! I always wondered what was written on the little NYPD decals on the cop cars---now I know!!! New York was Lou Reeds's finest Non VU LP. What is amazing is that he gave his sweet BRONX CHEER to NYC with only two guitars and a base!!! I qoute Lou Reed every chance I get "GIVE ME AN ISSUE and then GIVE ME A TISSUE and I WILL WIPE My ASS ON IT!!! Hey LOU, Chill out, Dude. What they do? Tow yer car AGAIN? Shoulda taken da subway!!!
one of the greatest albums in history... best ten bucks i have ever spent :)

His brutal honesty brings tears to my eyes.
I lost my Julliette many moons ago, hope someday the ice wall around my heart melts and I can feel again...
Beautifully phrased I must say
Thank you kindly. I guess if I still remember Julliette, there must be a little crack in that ice wall somewhere. Truth be told, she broke my heart so badly, I never did find all the pieces to put it back together and I'm sure I never will. I'm at peace with it and wish her well, where ever life took her.
MurderSquad247
Well, good look with melting the ice away
If you keep romanticizing the girl that broke your heart you'll never get over her.
Point fingers and move on
I moved on, then again, and again and again... I'm dating a pretty sweet chick now, only time will tell what the future holds. She's definitely breaking some walls down. As far as pointing fingers go, neither of us was to blame, just time, growing apart and wanting different things. Sometimes you just outgrow each other.
that bass tone is amazing

Whenever I feel really depressed, I put Berlin on, and it cheers me right up. :)
I was just listening to a record called “songs in the key of life” what life is that? This sounds more like life to me.
Song in the key of life is a song/album by Stevie Wonder. Good stuff too.
@@fauxtaux You mean good music, well compose and executed, etc. I mean ,this sounds more like real life.

I swear, new york is the best cd for you car radio.
keeps me sane...thanx
Never understood how, if Lou could come up with a masterpiece like New York, he had produced such unadulterated shit for the rest of the Eighties.
"That cop who died in Harlem, I hope they get the warning, I was laughing when I saw his brains roll out in the street." FTP
Hell yeah....a good cop is a dead cop.
Poetry. "something flickered for a minute...then it vanished and was gone" A fantastic commentary on maybe how much crap floats abouts in clear water. Me i just listen to the bass and nod along. Genius.
how awesome can a rock song get? wow!
love lou reed, always will. ged from loyal.

I've listened to Lou Reed since I was a kid. I saw him live. Never knew he was a toothpick guy.
The way he's got it tucked in his mouth makes me wonder if he had one in his mouth when I saw him.
In my defense I was pretty trashed.

The New York he sings of is long gone...too bad
as far as I'm concerned, Lou Reed is God.
