One of the greatest series ever made. BJ I love that you noticed that Winters shook each hand and looked them in the eye standing them up. I always thought that was an subtle, but very powerful and important thing.
It can’t be said enough. Asia thank you for your service. This series is one of the best in my opinion. My favorite part is the interviews with the actual soldiers of easy company.
You guys are going to love this. Just keep in mind that every single older man you see at the start of each episode is actually the “real” characters. Their identities will be revealed at the end.
Just remember that this is a true story, it’s not made up. They got some small details messed up but for the most part, what you see is what actually happened. This is not based on a true story, this is a true story! Much love to you guys! You complement each other very well. Keep smashing it! Blessings and love from Wales, UK.
I'm watching them watch...again. Fascinating to see Asia IMMEDIATELY see through the training...and I thank her for her service of course...
What an intro, loving it.
Is Asia do/did serve in military?
wow.
Their training commander, "Lt Sobel" while he was a sonofabitch during training, pretty much the entire Easy Company credits his training for their survival. As a commander in combat, he was however unfit, which is why he was reassigned.
I want to thank the both of you for helping me get through my deployment! After long days...I looked forward to the videos you made. I thank your families for their service and I'm proud to be part of their legacy.
The spaghetti thing had a purpose. They're going to be dropped behind enemy lines on their own until ground forces can get to them. They have to eat whatever food they can when they can and could have to fight right after. The weird part was Sobel looking peeved when they started to sing. They're gelling as a unit, that's exactly what he should want.
He was initially peeved but at the last second you see a proud father.
This is why they have multiple drill sgts , one is the teacher , the other is the kill hat
Having served for 20 years in the Military I will tell you that the Spaghetti was yes a test, but an evil one directed at Winters by Sobel because he was promoted on the same day. have you ever ran long distance on a full stomach? Its not recomended as the cramps will be very bad on that run as well making most people sick as seen in the show. Another thing on that run they sang as a FU to Sobel by the group for what they were going through and Sobel was pissed he did not get what he wanted. For sure most people watching the show may not understand what Sobel represents and most have a hard time moving past the actors Friends Character from the past. As a molder of Troops many understand that he has to be the apparent bad guy to get the troops to bond together as a unit, as we see from easy company he did his job well.
My favorite series or movie of all time! I served 12 years in the Army (most in the infantry). I am so thankful for the WWII veterans. They truly were the greatest generation!
Cool name!
Thanks so much for your service Nunya! Much love, glad you’ll be watching with us!!
As I watched you guys react to Saving Private Ryan, I wondered how you would enjoy this epic series, based on the book written about the wonderful men of Easy Company. I hope you watch all 10 episodes! Well worth the time.
"Easy Company" was used to identify "E Company" using the military alphabet at the time.
Today we use "Echo" for E.
After this could you watch "The Pacific"?
It is a mini-series based on the same premise following a Marine platoon fighting the Japanse in the pacific theatre of operations of WWII.
Hey y'all! I have to tell you that the first time I saw this, I was awestruck to the point of tears. My wife and I love this series so much that we went out amd bought it on DVD (I forgot about that until my wife said something the other day). Now, we're rewatching it on Netflix.
Not sure if y'all noticed the beginning credits that Stevent Spielberg (Directed Saving Private Ryan) and Tom Hanks (Starred in Saving Private Ryan) created this series. Huge shout out to our vets including you, Asia! Im stoked to see your reaction to the other episodes. Sending y'all love and positive vibes, always!
We can never forger these brave young men who faced terrible battles and gave or risked their lives so that we could be free. This is why they are called “ the greatest generation “.
Who does the army trust the most? Airborne! Who do the ladies love the most? Airborne! Who do the Nazis fear the most?? Airborne!!
I remember watching this when it came out. When that one trooper was running up the hill and his brothers joined him....that brought a tear to my eye. All for one and one for all.
It is my impression that the way Cpt. Sobel is portrayed in the series he was afraid of jumping and afraid of combat and that's why he worked his men harder than anyone else did. He wanted his men to be so good that he at least had a chance at surviving himself. Unfortunately his nervous personality led him to make several leadership mistakes as well as taking out his insecurities on the men under his command.
So happy to see you taking this on. You are in for an emotional roller coaster, my friends!
Oh wait, it's a reupload.
Okay, that makes sense, because I was like "How are you just now doing BoB?" (I watch a LOT of people react to BoB, so sometimes it's hard to remember who has and hasn't done it.)
It was removed so we’re reposted. But we’re definitely doing all eps of BoB!!
Thanks 😊
In the book, Ambrose told about the men knocking Sobel out, making and sewing up an incision as if his appendix had been removed. He thought they stole his appendix!
I cant wait to watch this again with ya'll. This is far and away my favorite TV series ever.
So from the time i was 17 yrs old back in 1993 every Jan at the Battle of the Bulge Reenactment in Fort Indiantown GAP, PA with E/ 506th living history unit we had almost all the org. Troopers with us (along with Troopers from other Airborne units, and at other events during the year) in our Barrack's and at the public battle. it was this event were i grew up Drinking Prop Blast listing to stories , laughing and singing with these Troopers. God i miss them scalawags those late night drunk Grunt to Grunt talks sitting on bunks with canteen cups of Prop blast and it was this event were XXXX read the letter he got from Tom Hanks asking permission to do it. then he asked us what we thought and we shouted a big HELL YES!! lifting our drinks 100+ Drunken Troopers cheering, them were some epic hangovers
19:11 That was the parachute emblem on his hat. He's an enlisted man which means that his ranks will be on his sleeves. The Officers wear their ranks on their collars and their hats.
been waiting on ep2...now I know why...thanks for re-upping!
Um, this is quite the journey you're starting here. Be prepared. Always remember you're watching actors portray real people.
As we say here in Texas; Y'all be safe.
My father was in the US Army from 1938-45; He was at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked. He didn't fight in Europe but fought in the Pacific. Like the Marines did in WWII. I was a Marine between 1982-88. I was lucky I never had to fight in a war. But the Marines/military isn't for everyone. It sure isn't Gomer Pyle. It's much more like Saving PVT Ryan, the Band of Brothers and Full Metal Jacket. Semper FI
CURAHEE loosely means “We Stand Alone Together”
This is a great series. You'll be glad you watched it. It's hard to watch sometimes, but well worth it.
This is my absolute favorite miny series. You two will get a lot of enjoyment from it. Its one of the best for accuracy of combat as well as history.
The messed up part about that extra paratrooper pay, is IIRC glider infantry were still just "Infantry" and not "Paratroopers".
So even though they got towed in with the Airborne, had to run the gauntlet of AAA with the Airborne, had to crash land and fight cutoff behind enemy lines with the Airborne, etc, because they didn't physically use a parachute they didn't get the extra pay.
They were taking 90% of the same risk, but without any of the benefits paras got.
My parent's generation. So happy to see you guys learning about WW Two. It was, and remains, so consequential. BTW, we are all Americans, regardless of race, ethnicity, creed or religion. All Americans are rightly proud of our nation's role in the world. As Lincoln said, the US is the last, best hope for humanity.
"it's about to get real real"... You have no idea. You saw Saving Private Ryan so you're prepared for the next episode... I think in many ways this is harder because they start each episode with the real survivors. I read that of E-company only like 40% of the initial men survived to the end of the war... And that's actually a good number, there were some army companies that only had like 3 survivors out of 100+ in the original company (not counting reinforcements). At the start of episode 2 you'll hear the one guys voice crack over his lost comrades, probably 50 years later it still was emotional for him.
Reel talk. Army fact: Service member Group Life Insurance is a base of 400K. A death gratuity of 100k is paid out also. That death gratuity can be split up to ten times in 10% increments. So I can leave the SGLI to spouse, and designate amounts of the death gratuity to anyone.
$10K in 1944 is about $170K today.
That's almost twice my life insurance policy
The diamond in the center of the soldier's rank is a 1st Sergeant's insignia. He's the top NCO of the Company.
I’d honestly rather jump then have to run up that beach!!!
I'm from the UK. My great grandfather served in the British homeguard during WW2 (basically Britain's national guard). Him and his unit never saw any action but it's still interesting that he did his part in that way
BJ I really enjoyed your intro involving your family in service. when it opened with Currahee I was so invigorated because that was my unit when I served in the 90's! So much good stuff here and so well done.
I also enjoy the two of you in your seriousness. No civilians in jobs I have had since understand or utilize a brotherhood like in the military. Teamwork and honesty and other attributes are not as appreciated as much outside of the military with the exception of Christian born again believers. The reaction uploads are so interesting and I'm thankful for these!
one of my Fav shows the behind the scenes that Livington recorded was epic . All of these actors truly had to earn these roles. Huuah
20:10 Yes his mistake which means that at Court Martial you get to introduce that evidence and will likely be acquitted. Taking the 60 day denial of leave (summary punishment) doesn't allow you to refute the accusation.
UGH...YT took down the first episode...what a shock?! LOL Sorry you had to repost...here is a comment for the algorithm.
Oh...and first? ✌💯😂
Nope...second. LOL
This is a great show about the founding of the Airborne. As a former paratrooper that never saw combat, I wish now that it was a part of Jump School
From google: "$10,000 in 1944 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $171,497.73 today."
Probably in addition to the soldier's back pay. Not bad. I mean... they'd probably rather have their relative back but.. not bad.
This is my favorite mini series. I love this show so much.
Glad ya'll got the episode back up. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Don' let YT getcha down; keep ya head(s) up. Peace.
My pops lowest jump was 600ft, said his chute had barely reached full before ground contact 😳😳
The diamond on that guy's hat symbolizes the rank of First Sergeant (E-8).
Captain = Company Commander. So one of the Lieutenants a platoon commander will be promoted to take Capt Sobel's former spot.
absolutely fantastic series... that shot of the planes is one of the best in the film.. and just a note -- the actor playing winters is a brit... and his natural accent will throw you the first time you hear him speak. i had no idea.
They jumped at 1000 feet and that's not a lot. I've flown in a small 4 person craft at 2000 feet and felt like we were too close to the ground.
Really enjoyed your take on the first episode.
As a paratrooper in my younger days it is an adrenaline rush but at the same time it is dangerous yall should react to a current 82nd airborne operation there os film
This is my favorite episode in a way, if nothing else for the innocence. When Captain Sobel and Army noodles with ketchup were their biggest threats. While knowing what horror and death lies ahead. Be prepared to learn, laugh and suffer with these characters. Currahee! ♠
After this, you should watch From the Earth to the Moon. t was an HBO mini series produced by Tom Hanks about the Apollo missions (excluding Apollo 13 - Hanks stared in a movie about that one).
Band of Brothers & The Wire are the two best TV shows. EVER.
Jumping is easy… the landing🤣🤣🤣 , then, getting dragged by the wind!😂😂😂
50 dollars in 1941 was $1,023
So that's $2,046 a month.
$10000 is $204653
This was normal training for us in "82" at Ft. Benning GA.
This is an amazing series, I hope you truly enjoy it.
Eat it now, taste it later, is what my drill instructor always said at chow. Hookah!! Jump from the sky, do or die.
Glad to see you guys watching this!!
If y'all haven't seen Da' 5 Bloods yet, I think you'd love it! Great Spike Lee joint.
This was up last week.
The more you watch it, the more you get to know who the characters are and then every time you watch it you feel for the guys when they get hit or killed.
I don't know if I've seen a reactor channel do this, but a follow up to this series HAS to be The Pacific
All these guys have been through Boot camp before they volunteered for Airborne. They could quit or be washed-out at anytime up until they deployed to England. It was Sobel's job to get them to quit. He was not a good field officer.
I'm looking forward to y'all working your way through what has to be the best mini-series ever made.
Love this series!! ❤❤
I can't wait to see your reaction, This is as real as it get right down everything being prototypically correct Every time it is on TV I don't care what I am doing, I have to watchit!
$100 per month pay back then is equal to $1,850 today. That $10,000 life insurance policy is equal to $185,000 in today's money.
I wonder if Asia has served before. She seemed more familiar with this, the way she's watching.
I wish I was watching this with you so I could break down the scenes. Love this
Dropping a like and comment on the re-upload to help out the algorithm. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
One of my favorite WWII movies/series.
I get goosebumps everytime I hear the music from this. Fantastic show.
Ah we got it, I expect tears as I previously said lol. 9 days, I'm surprised I didn't spot it sooner.
on to part 2 . Day of Days
I live 20 minutes from Toccoa, Ga and can tell you as humid as it looks here it's 10 times worse
Just a note, 10k in 1940s was worth about 215k today
re-upload? weekend pass revoked! change into your PT gear, we're running Currahee! fall out!
Thank you for doing this.
Saving Private Ryan is the best war movie, this is the best war series
I'm back like I never left!
I think thay done a second session. Called South Pacific. Something like that
Man I hope you upload the full series on RUclips. If you're set on keeping most of it Patreon exclusive, at least react to The Pacific on ur youtube
Hopefully this one doesn't get blocked!
This is an Amazing series, if you like this they also made The Pacific and also a good WW2 movie is U-571.
ASIA IS SO WONDERFIUL. Love her
23:20 These guys are not going to hit the beach but rather fall in behind German lines to take out whatever defenses the Germans will throw at the army divisions from The US, Canada and Great Britain that will actually hit the beaches.
All true too, About Easy Company, based on the book.
19:10 huh? they all have the same thing dude, and its a parachute... ¬¬
Best docu-series (true story too) ever done. Of course, Hanks and Spielberg crap golden cufflinks, so you know goin in that it's gonna be good.
Remember these young men was only 17 18 19 just graduated high school and this was there prom …
Other than The Wire this I probably my fave TV show that's not an anime.
❤
One of the best series out there
In my humble opinion, EVERY AMERICAN should watch this entire series about World War II! Especially Young Americans, they need to understand what our military men and women have been through and the immense sacrifices that have been made to protect our Country and the freedoms we enjoy! It’s incredibly sad when Europeans know more about American History than we do! This series is the Best portrayal of what happened during WWII! Thank You Tom Hanks and Stephen Spielberg!
They wanted that time for that cigarette you know between the the meal and the run write about the time everybody throws up Asia are you a service member?
Yessssssss
A Really Great Slept On WWI Movie Y'all Would Relly Enjoy Is, "The Lost Battalion".
Watching an Airborne drop will do one of two things , Scare the Holy Shit out of you , Or Inspire you ..!
D-Day, 6th of June, 1944.
I loved watching this again it was great!! I can't wait to see more
Love this series!
