I live in Charleston, South Carolina and my father lives in Lake lure North Carolina right after the storm I took my entire hurricane kit and met him which included a Honda generator a solar generator 35 gallons of gas four cases of water 60 pounds of ice four generator cords propane Lights and fans to help dry his place out. The difference was I was prepared for a hurricane, and he couldn’t have imagined one. being able to get my supplies to him was a game changer.
Yea... We get high winds often, and flash floods . We aint ever had a Hurricane Dump Billions of Gallons at the same time on the mtn tops . In other words, wouldnt matter what ya Had or How Ready .. the Wall of Tree Water and mud that wiped everything out along side people didnt really care if folks was prepared... It took everything... I stay ready... But no kne was ready for that .. so loose the online ego
I've made two supply runs to North Carolina and one to East Tennessee. Their resilience is heart warming and inspirational. The first trip was right after it happened. They were struggling. The last two trips were, we got this but thanks for helping.
Been watching your channel for years. Been prepping since 2012. Hurricanes, tornadoes, high winds, flooding, loss of power, etc is very real! Maybe more so than emp, war, civil unrest, etc. Keep prepping people. You never know what you might face and also how you can help others in need!
I am a detective in a medium to large size city in southeastern Virginia. One of the growing crime trends that I am seeing is larceny from storage units. I would highly recommend video documentation of all of your items within the storage unit and also spring for the insurance of your items when rentinga storage unit. This is a wildly growing crime trend that has affected hundreds of people in my locality.
My niece had a tree fall on her house in her two daughters bedroom and destroyed the fireplace. She and her husband are preppers but they are a young couple and she just had a baby. Thankfully her neighbor still had electric and water. They were on city utilities in Hendersonville, NC
This is great video to go over why we need to have supplies for these disasters that just happened. I like the idea of storing supplies in a storage unit or at a friend's house who is not in the path of the disaster. Now would be a great time toknow your neighbors and form those neighborhood watch program to protect each other. In this disaster thecommunity came together.
From living on the mountain on and off over the years, I survived EVERYTHING except the one thing I did not plan for or consider. RODENTS. They are drawn to the warmth. They chew through supples and wiring and throw midnight parties in the walls when you are Exhausted. And they want to be your newest camper pet. I woke up to a rat in my face. For my safety I packed up that night and slept in my car. I heard them chewing through the wiring in my car!! They are not afraid of you. Worst thief in a catastrophe. Kind of hard to shoot them indoors. 😂
I’m in the Piedmont. The one thing observing this taught me was that your Skill Set is Far more Important than your Stockpile. Shelter building, Fire Starting from nothing, Foraging, Water Filtration from the elements around you…,but I’m not certain how effective that all would have been in a toxic environment after flooding or other events. We live near a Power Plant. Makes you wonder. Diversification is definitely important.
First made Nomad chevy, wagon, the best! Easy to fix work on,get older car learn it, learn how to build, rebuild, books on rebuild, repair everything, Hayens repair or all types, even Semis! Thanks for ur channel
People have gotten accustomed to the idea that the government is going to come rescue them. It's difficult to realize that there are on their own and nobody's coming to help they have to stay on their own two feet.
The other thing I have learned is that if you have goods stored in a separate position rurally, know that they WILL be pilfered by those “good” neighbors in a serious situation. They consider you an outsider and their first priority is to provide and protect their longtime community. It’s cultural thing. Not easy to say it but there it is.
Shrug, I moved past the 'woulda coulda shoulda' aspect. It's the reality on the ground, that has to be faced. I'm getting jaded, though. Are people finally going to learn from this? Or just go back to the normalcy bia and hide in their comfort zones? I double checked some preps, just to ensure they were actually working as planned, and they were, for the most part. I voted today, and I never expected to be voting with armor (soft) plates on, but I did it. Just don't want to be standing around on the normal voting day. Everything went smoothly, no visible distress. Arkansas having record voting numbers, so, maybe people are waking up.
Some will go back to the old ways. But I believe many new preppers have been born out if this disaster. It's made me realize something. I keep all my preps in one place. I really need to spread it around a bit.
RUclipsr TheGeoModels does a great job explaining why the floods occurred in North Carolina as they did. These floods happen before. They will happen again. All you have to do is take a look at the geography of the area. Please rebuild on higher ground. Stay strong.
These people WERE ON HIGHER GROUND???? They were in the mountains. This 💩 was weaponized; HAARP. It IS real. Look up Operation Popeye during the Vietnam War. This isn't the only ex.
Adapt2030 with David Dubine says the same. It's repeating pattern and it will get much worse before we see the end of it. Unfortunately many properties are now in new rivers.
When putting preps in a self storage building think about the access and locks. Many of them rely on internet and power for entry. Then if you choose the old type then you have to worry about temp differences.
There is no guarantee that if you can get out to your off site stash there is no guarante you will be able to get back in as the usual practice is for the Police to block all access to everyone even if you live there.
Ammunition, this is a top barter item. What does your sports or gun store say is the popular seller? That caliber is going to be valuable barter item when SHTF. Also maybe in talking with neighbors or family what food and utility items are highly purchased, think barter, trade, or help your neighbor!
Same happened in Australia with the mandatory buy back on our firearms. Non of the criminals handed there's in just the law abiding citizens did. Don't give up your guns
Turn preparedness into a game! How to build a fire for example, who can start first, teams , older kids teamed up with younger, build a teepee or a stacked log the fastest and most efficient. Use YOUR imagination! There are card games that are questions and teams answer questions, then have a great or favorite reward. It can be lots of fun, even for know it all teens! Maybe Dad doesn’t know it all.
I lost every memory in a flood. The whole town is now gone. I relocated.. i had a fire years later there. A flood is much worse.i have three locations.
I am in Pensacola, FL and have a 24K Generac Generator using Natural Gas. How secure or reliable do you think the Natural Gas supply is after a Hurrican, Tornado or other natural disaster?
Any suggestions for a small 40watt fridge freezer - looking for something low consumption in event of long term power outage for the very basics(and a neighbours Insulin) Cheers
As a family of seven (5 kids under 10) we camp on BLM land at least a week at a time multiple times a year in every weather (snow/rain/heat). It gives us very good practice and a good idea of where our prep holes are!
At $135 per month for the smallest unit are the contents worth $1620 a year or could you buy a shed from Home Depot or box trailer and place it on a friend’s property?? I’m opting for the latter.
Awesome video and information, I have the 8000/4000 BTU Mr Buddy heater its absolutely great I've used it in my Oz tent RV5. I use it with a carbon monoxide detector in the tent and when it's on high its fine but way to hot for Aussie conditions even in winter so I use it on the 4000 BTU setting and it sets off the carbon monoxide detector which is weird. I think it's due to the lower flame?? Any one have any ideas?
It's actually a bit below normal so far (as of the 12th). There are flu maps or the CDC's Fluview (honest to gawd, that's what it's called) you can look up to keep track.
They do not BELONG to the government, but they do have the right to enter and search for any reason or no reason at all, whenever they want to. the same goes for your home. They have the right to confiscate firearms, but I do not believe they have the right to confiscate any old thing they want. If you have a ton of food and water, yes, they will probably take some of it.
FEMA is too big and creaky. They are no longer first responders. Instead of giving taxpayer money to them, taxpayer money should be given to the individual states so that disaster relief can get to people within hours.

Unfortunately, you are incorrect. In an shtf situation you might have to defend your home / property from more than a few groups of people who fail to prepare, but who want to take what you have stored up. And if they don't want your stuff, they just want YOU. Either situation is going to call for a good deal of ammunition.
@SensiblePrepper @RobbieWheaton regarding the EDC when you're at home, I wear my glock 42 in a belly band when I'm home. Belly bands are so comfortable and any pistol can be carried in any belly band. People should absolutely be carrying on body inside their homes!

And then another hurricane hits Florida!

Our 1965 Allis Chalmers tractor is points ignition gas. Got a trailer for it if needed. My bug out vehicle I guess. It's slow but it'll go.

Do not forget even with all the benefits of fire, it’s a psychological comfort in a stressful situation!

Two nurses I work with lost everything. SHTF is real.
A hurricane hitting the Appalachian mountains is about as assbackwards as a snow storm hitting Florida! Who would have prepared for that? 🤯 🌀❄️
Ask Texas!

Let’s not forget that an EMP would likely only be phase 1 of an attack.
You're correct.
About home edc. My Dad had a protection pew pew in every room, every room and vehicle. For sure.
Your lack of planning is not my emergency

If there is an EMP the Amish will save us!

Try looking for a truck with a Cummins 12v 6bt or even better a Reo 35. Both would be great after an EMP. Just an idea.
