McCarthy has a good record coaching QBs. Don’t remember him getting Matt Flynn to show out? That’s the hope here. Develop Trey Lance and flip him for something better than a 4. He’s a better qb3 than Grier until that point. With the new free roster spot for qb3 they wanted to carry 3 QBs.
