    He was what I expected from a rookie QB making his SECOND career start. He had some good throws but he also had some bad ones. The key is patience. Fans have to realize that he is a ROOKIE. Very few rookie QB's come into the league and perform well. It takes time to develop and get comfortable. He has the potential for sure. But it's all about reps and getting game experience. The more he gets the better he should become. We'll see.

      I was thinking the same thing during the game and watching this. I know that in college he would power his way through and go all the way, but this is the NFL and lately when Kyle designs those plays for Lance, they haven't seemed to work. Also, sometimes when Lance takes off to run, instead of trying to run fast to the sideline to beat the defender he tends to slow down and stutter step to get ready for the contact against the defender. He needs to change those habits and Kyle needs to be careful with those designed run plays if he wants to have a long career as a QB in the NFL! Other than that, as the game went on, I liked his pocket awareness and he looked a little more poised.

      Here's the thing though, just because those plays didn't gain a lot of yards, it doesn't mean that it didn't work. Those plays were designed to slow down the defensive pass rush and get them to play a certain way. Watch the play at 6:12. That play worked to perfection because the defense committed to stopping the run.

    I don't understand why people hate this kid. He did nothing to Jimmy G. All that was started by analyst, and over obsessed Jimmy fans feeling threatened of losing Jimmy. All the shade Jimmy received this year was from Grant Cohn, Sports Analyst, and 9ER fans. When being interviewed Trey had nothing, but nice things to say about Jimmy even calling him a Big Brother who was selfless ,and taught him how to play on a professional level. Trey did his job as a back up QB when he was called upon, and without hesitation stepped down to allow the true starter of the team resume his job. These guys are teammates who like each other. In all fairness Jimmy earned a second chance to prove himself. To silence all those who doubted him. And in all fairness nobody took that from Jimmy, but himself. Why are all these supposed Faithful 9ER fans wishing him to be a bust????? He was drafted to be the future of the team. He's been patiently waiting on the bench learning the playbook to go in when called upon. Jimmy had his chance to save his job. End of story. Now that Trey gets a chance he most patiently waited for you guys want him to fail????? If all you care about is Jimmy Garpoppolo, and not the 49ERS. Than you need to go with your heart, and follow him out of town. Seriously. Trey is the next man up. Are you faithful, or not? Move on, or move out! Go 9ERS!!!!!

    The difference between Lance in the first half and Lance in the second reaffirmed by belief that Shanahan was setting up Lance for failure by refusing to play him during garbage time opportunities throughout the season. Once he had more comfort on the field and Shanahan moved the playbook back to the Niners' bread-and-butter, he was a completely different player.
    Shanahan is a fool for not giving him more plays in low-consequence moments sooner. Dude could be a game changer for the Niners if harnessed and refined properly.

There are a few things I notice 1) At NDSU he is used to his WRs being wide open and hitting them on a line (similar to the Deebo TD) 2) The competition/speed is a bit much for him right now 3) Hopefully he gets better at throwing his receiver open 4) Shanahan better stop running those QB designed plays or he’s going to get hurt because he is used to running everyone over from college 5) The dude has a cannon!

I saw a QB who made lots of questionable decisions. I saw a QB who could have easily had at least 2 more int's beside the one he did throw. I saw a QB who held onto the ball WAYYY to long. I saw a QB who i thought was a better scrambler but he seems a lot slower and less agile then i remember. I also see a QB who supposed to be strong get crushed by defenses tackling him. I don't see Josh Allen or Mahomes go down like that. I don't even see Watson whos much smaller than lance get taken down so easily. He looks like a player who had only started 13 games in D1AA for a run first team. This kid needs ALOT OF WORK. That deep ball to the back pylon in the end zone (Aiyuk) was exceptional. Aiyuk almost made the one-handed grab. Perfect ball placement gave only his receiver a chance to make that play.

I am a former player (high school) and former coach (12-14 yr old Pop Warner, Frosh, JV, Varsity high school). I am super excited for Trey to take over next season. Although he didn’t get a lot of playing time this season, there was plenty of progress and big-time throws in that small sample size to get excited about, if you are looking for it. The kid is legit: a freak athlete, a hard worker, smart, driven. I expect great things.

    My biggest problem with Trey Lance is that he wasn't given enough snaps this year. I think Shanahan was a fool not give him any touches on the ball during garbage time against the Jags and the Falcons. That would've been a perfect time to give Lance his needed time on the field. It also probably would've put Niners fans in a better mood for the 2022 season.

    Helpful Video. First take: his mobility is insane, Russell Wilson/Mahomes type pocket elusiveness, good speed but not Vick speed. Ability to throw the long ball accurately for big games. Limited experience makes him think he can just bullet the ball in certain situations. I think he just needs more reps, experience and patience passing the ball, his mobility and deep ball is already there, patience with progressions and passing with a touch/ intermediate routes is what needs to be worked on next.

Fast Freddy Warner had a talk with him about taking risks in practice so you can see what you’re NOT capable of before setting foot on the field. The kid’s fearless. Some of these throws you can tell he’s tried in practice. He most definitely has the highest ceiling of any qb, but quite possibly the lowest floor. Time will tell.

      Bro think about he had 8 rushes for 31 yards… when have we ever gotten that type of dynamic play making ability from jimmy g? Never. As a defense, you now have to try to game plan for qb runs and it adds a whole new dimension to their offense. He also had a 116 QBR in this game which was higher than any QBR jimmy posted late in the season and in the playoffs. I understand it was Houston, but you can’t deny his raw ability here. He at least gives you more options than jimmy ever did and I think he’ll develop quickly. No idea why he’s getting any negativity.
      I watched his entire pro day. This kid has a freaking CANNON. I have never been so excited to see a football player start to play. I am starved for seeing the niners offense become more dynamic.

    I hope Trey has a great offseason because he needs it. He has to work on short yardage runs/throws. We drafted him so he can pick up those 3rd and 2. He hesitated a lot instead of just running full speed. I remember how Colin used to run he was fearless. Trey also should know (rookie or not) it’s tough to run on 3rd and 10. I mean I feel like this next season he will still be playing on a rookies mentality. Hopefully he stays focused and locked in, doesn’t need to get hurt or we will be wishing Jimmy had stayed or wished we got a veteran QB. I loved the Trey Lance pick but we gave up so much and I see a lot of holes on this team. Deebo and Kittle can’t do it all. We need a true lockdown corner and a couple of heathy running backs to stay on the field. Let’s just hope the team stays united and focused. We don’t need another 2 years to make this team start clicking. What made us a good team this year is continuity. Jimmy knew the playbook and hopefully Trey has been working all year to make sure he’s ready. That being said the NFC is up for grabs if your looking at the quarterbacks situation, we have Russell Wilson, maybe Aaron Rodgers if he stays in the NFC but not a lot of elite QBs in the NFC at this time.

    A whole offseason for Shanahan to design a playbook specifically for Lance with first team reps could be scary if they move on from garapolo and at this point they should. Lance just needs to work on going through his progressions. A lot of his broken up passes were because he stared down the receiver he threw to from the start of the play, like the first interception. But that could just be him not being comfortable with a playbook designed for a pocket passer. If he’s gonna keep trying to drop his shoulder at the end of plays he’s also gonna need to put on some more muscle. Besides that the potential’s there, especially with Shanahan coaching him.

      Yeah he seems to slow down near contact. Even in another game this year, he gets stuffed near the line of scrimmage or goal line a lot. He needs to be more decisive; either run full speed or commit to throwing. The talent in the NFL will make him pay for indecisiveness.

      @rodashleemusic 2 года назад +1

      @@matthewkochis5164 Yeah this game against the Rams in L.A. will give us a better assessment being it will be against a much better team and defensive front and secondary. I just hope he doesn't lock in on Aiyuk too much like he didn't against the Texans because I assure you if I notice that as a 9ers fan the Rams secondary is seeing that as well in film study. Even when Aiyuk wasn't open he still threw him the ball forcing it...just hit the open man someone else had to be open if not just get what he can with his legs and safely get out of bounds or hit the check down Juice was wide open on many check downs as well and Kittle on out routes....I don't think forcing the ball to Aiyuk against the Rams will be a good idea for Lance just throw to whoever is open QB wise my opinion

    No one throws the backside on a Y-throwback aka tight end leak. The primary target takes a while to uncover, and the entire point of the backside is to draw the defense away so that the QB throws to the tight end. Throwing to Deebo on that is like choosing to throw deep on a screen pass. So, unless you have Aaron Rodgers back there, the odds of Deebo getting the ball - even if wide open - on that play are minuscule. What he should have reasonably done is throw the check down or ran with it.
