In this video we are looking at which characters in Smash Ultimate can hit through the thickest wall. Hitbox size is not the only thing that matters here, but mostly.
We used Megaman as our dummy, since he doesn't move a single muscle (does he have muscles?) while holding a metal blade, meaning he doesn't have an idle animation which could mess up our result. So who can hit through the thickest wall? We even included a small bonus segment for everyone who can :)

@@MannFace51 hes got a lot of tools and I love him, but he cant spike. He can stage spike but he has no moves that actaully spike the opponent without a stage

Every character can hit Mewtwo through any of these walls because his tail hurtbox goes all the way through
Also Mewtwo can't hit back because of his tail shenanigans

I don't know why it took me so long to figure out, but they're using MegaMan so that there's no Idle animation shenanigans. That's super smart.

@@miles6711 every character except Megaman has a unique animation they do if you don't touch the controller for a while, this shifts their hurtboxes so the exact same move from the same distance could sometimes miss. So they're on Megaman because he doesn't move (Sakurai is referencing his original games that didn't have any idle animations)

I'm sure someone has already said so, but you can actually make a true 1 wide wall by creating it in an L shade. You can just draw the wall as 1 wide, and then add the curve at the bottom to make it technically 2 wide.

Link's boomerang as it comes back can go through walls. Like Simon and his cross

Yeah I also found it weird that they did that to k rool and Simon but completely forgot the character that one of his most well known items is the boomerang
i would think the problem with link's boomerang is that it doesnt go through walls like Simon's cross or k rool's crown. but i might be wrong
They angle too far down to get near the Belmont's. They try to come back to link before despawning and that curve makes it lose horizontal

Spoiler: Joker's counter has the widest hitbox, so their efforts would have been in vain.
Also, I'm pretty sure everyone else who has a counter has a move that reaches as far or farther
counter throw's grab range is actually really big, it would have gone through plenty of pillars
suprosonic12 I guess but some counters they didn't show have jank hit boxes like palus and greninjas, it probably wouldn't affect any of the fire emblem characters
@@bluescorpion6156 yeah it wouldn't affect the FE characters, Little Mac, or Bayo. Along with Palu and Greninja, Lucario, Peach/Daisy, and Shulk have strange hitboxes as well, but only Shulk's might have gotten him to the next wall. It would've been cool to see the interactions though. Also note that Joker's Rebel's Guard release hitbox is bigger than a lot of other counters too
What about ganon up tilt, I've hit someone through the fuselage of the pilot wings plane with it.

You know full well why.
They used megaman because he stays completely still, aka no idle animations.
This makes sure the testing dummy doesn’t shift their hitbox during an idle, keeping everything consistent
This is actually an extremely helpful video that helps me determine the hit range of all the characters + Fighter Pass 1 characters.
You're doing the work of the Smash gods. Good stuff!
Keep in mind that in most fights, there won't be a wall in the way, so many moves will have more range than shown here, such as projectiles that are blocked by walls, Belmont whips, and attacks that move the character forward.
8:06 pk freeze went under the floor in both clips. That's why it hit.

This video actually overlooked one major thing. Kirby can get the abilities of his opponents, so if he gets the ability of Ike, he should be able to clear the whole course.
Its reasonable he sticks with his original moves, using copy abilities seems to much.
The copy wouldn't help much past the starting ones yeah he could grab ikes sword slam to get through the starting ones but only as far as ike can so in a sense unlike other challenges it wouldn't be much reason to feature it unlike using jump manado for jumping challenges
@@unny8135 Well, copying other abilities is a part of Kirby's mechanic. If we were counting those out, Lucario having aura would be cheating, but I get what you mean.
@@Remi_takes_over At the very least, Kirby could be given the Belmont axes. That would be a much larger change that would've been worth it to showcase.

Aura enchances Lucario, and his moves. Kirby copies a move, but it doesn't change how it works. If anything it only changes because he's shorter.
Any neutral special than can go through can most likely go through regardless of the user. So it's pointless to show Kirby's copy abilities off for this.
Unless a move enhances him, or the move is enhanced by him, there's no real point to doing that.

I found something crazy, basically, you need to have a sprit team saved that has 3 landing minus landing lags for support, then, do the "melee" stage, and its crazy, so crazy, i tested this with lucina and look at these true combos,
Nair > Nair > Nair > Nair...
Nair > Nair > Upair > Upair > Upair > fair
Nair > Nair > Dair > Jab or whatever
And the combo possibilities are basically endless,
And make sure you short hop so the air can pull you down,

There is no exact sprit team, as long as you have 3 support sprits with less landing lag, it works. And the stage where you short hop and then the air pulls you down

actually if you make a wall with size 2 and in one of the size you put 2 more blocks, like an L, you can get a wall size 1 if you shirking it from 4 to 2.

Technically, Kirby, Villager, and Isabelle can all go through the thickest wall if they use Simon/Belmont’s Copy ability or pocket their axe.
Edit: I meant the 8 thick wall, not the thickest one.
Westley Blakeslee No, the axe does not go through the thickest wall, did you not see the video? The thickest wall, 46 blocks thick, can only be penetrated with the holy cross, for those characters. I'm fairly certain Kirby cannot use the holy cross since it is Side Special and not Neutral Special.

EpicPowered Uh, I definitely watched the video. It seems to me you guys did not. 8 blocks was not the thickest wall. There were a few walls after the 8 block wall, with the thickest being the 46 block wall. They only showed those after minute 17 or so. Only Simon and Richter made it, with the holy cross, and in the comments, BSD also confirmed Pac Man can make it by using the bell and hydrant in combination.
So, yes, I watched the video. Did YOU watch it?

I love the y'all showed all the moves various people might think to try, and how you would take a move that worked and keep using it until it stopped working and then tried something different, and how y'all set up for things to work like having Mega Man hanging up top while Joker tried his Up B. I feel like a lot of other channels wouldn't do these things.

German Azurin The bell can do it too, with the help of the hydrant. It was not shown in video, but in one of the comment threads, BSD confirmed this is the case, in retrospect.

It is possible to get a 1 block wide wall. You have to do 1 block wide, drag down to where you want it to be, and then make a small horizontal extension before looping back around. Basically just a super thin L shape.
