  • Looking for a fun and productive keyboard? The NuPhy Air75 may be for you, but beware, it's not perfect! This slim keyboard has low-profile Gateron switches and offers connectivity for up to 4 devices, making it an excellent choice for the productivity focused. With distinctive colored keycaps, RGB backlighting, and unique light bars, it's a truly fun addition to any setup.

    The NuPhy Air75 comes in 60%, 75%, and 96% versions and can be used wired via USB-C or wireless via Bluetooth or the included USB dongle. It is compatible with both Mac and Windows and comes with separate keycaps allowing you to have a clean look to match your operating system. The frame is made of aluminum and the bottom is made of plastic. Overall it is light, thin, and feels a bit hollow. The keycaps are PBT plastic which should ensure long-lasting durability.
    One unique feature of the NuPhy Air75 is its side RGB bars, which display information like caps lock and battery life. Another major feature are the AirFeet which are designed to mount the keyboard on top of a MacBook to allow a mechanical typing experience when using your Mac. So much of this keyboard is excellent, however a few negatives stand out that make it not quite perfect. The keyboard sound and feel is hollow and on the louder side. The smart assistant key is a waste for most people. Finally, if you regularly use the right shift key, like me, then you may find that you miss the key regularly due to a lack of stabilization. The frustrations associated with these issues make this keyboard a bad fit for me, but if you enjoy the sound and use the left shift key as your primary, it may be perfect for you.

    I just got mine in the mail a few days ago and am quite impressed. It is the best keyboard I have worked with so far. I'm glad I didn't have to go through Amazon since I hate supporting Bezos. The Satechi is also a strong competitor.

      Thank you! That means a lot. I’m trying to really get down to the points that could make or break someone’s purchasing decision and a lot of those are things that can be missed if you’re not thorough. Glad I was able to bring up some unique points of view based on my testing.

      @@CameronDoughertyTech Specifically, I'd seen watching LTT's ShortCircuit review of the Air75 that the keyboard was designed to go on top of the MBP, but you went into the 'why' and 'how' that is the case, and I really appreciated that.

    This was a great review. I have been thinking of this keyboard, and I'm sure it's great for most. But things like the shift key not having stabs is a big no no in my book. No one else mentioned these things. Thank you for the video.

      The shift key was the deciding factor. This review is super useful. Such a small detail of such great importance. I hope they will fix the Shift key in another iteration of the product.

    I have a theory on the shift key usage that just occurred to me.. think about something you type a lot and almost always capitalise... your name! With a C and a D, letters both on the left side of the keyboard, I bet you're biased to use the right shift key more than someone whose initials were on the right side of the keyboard.

    K3 pro is better for me, easier cleaning since I am messy, but nuphy has fun colors and deeper sound because keys are sunk in. We have both of these keyboards in the office and they are both absolutely amazing for that they are. Shinethough PBT keycaps is last step to perfection for me.

    Which low profile keyboard would you recommend? I want something portable too. So I was looking at this one or the air 60, especially with the neat case. But perhaps there are better options out there

    • @CameronDoughertyTech
      @CameronDoughertyTech  Год назад +1

      For portability I think you’re looking between NuPhy and Keychron. Keychron also has a leather travel pouch. It doesn’t seem as nice as the NuPhy one but still seems solid. I did a full review of the K3 if you want to learn about the pros and cons there. My favorite overall that I’ve tried is the Azio Cascade Slim. They only sell a felt travel pouch that idk if I’d trust, but the keyboard is great!

      @@CameronDoughertyTech Thanks a lot for the info! I will have a look at all 3 of them.
      from the info I gleaned, it is less easy to customize/find new key caps for the k3 compared to the azio and the nuphy, correct?

      if you game -> numphy . (cause K3 has no 2.4Gz or you have to use cable. )
      overwise i believe they are the same.
      for k3 stabilizers are good, no light via default keycaps. case without "bumper". and K3 use VIA for remapping. It's super easy.

    I use both shift keys but mostly left. Fortunately I am using Aloe switches for all alpha keys and shift keys. Rest of them are brown switches. So this shift key issue is solved for me. And honestly I have thought it would have been a lot useful as a software programmer if they could just put insert key instead of that dedicated assistant. I am using that key to lock my screen now 😅
