    I wish more companies would make a full size wireless keyboard. Everyone is into TKL or 60% and those are cool but I have space on my desk and I use the number pad for gaming

GTA uses the numb pad for flight controls, CoD lets you hot swap classes, etc. I’m not opposed to a separate keypad for number entry, but why not just have one board for it all? If they had slid those three unknown indicator lights down to between the backspace and the home buttons, they could have corrected that lack of gap between the F8 snd F9 keys.

    • @leonro
      @leonro 11 месяцев назад +5

      Perhaps, but that'd further mess with key alignment. I think it might've been better if they simply decreased the esc-f1 and f4-f5 spacings to make space for a third one. But otherwise, I don't feel like it's too bad. Accidentally pressing escape instead of f1 and f4 instead of f5 (f4 closes current tab in browser) are by far some of the most annoying mistakes I make. Pressing tab instead of shift/q accidentally is also up there, along with the power button on my laptop that's next to delete; otherwise, I can't really recall any other not-immediately-fixable mistakes I make on a keyboard.

    • @WARnTEA
      @WARnTEA 11 месяцев назад

      All they had to do is remove the printscreen button and they would have enough space to have standard gaps. Thats how most keyboards do it I’m pretty sure. Print Screen is kinda useless anyway.

If you use the delete key too, its fairly easy to create your own print screen keybind in most keyboard softwares these days. Find something you don't use and change it. There is probably something you don't use like the menu key or the pipe forwardslash key.

    • @leonro
      @leonro 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@WARnTEA I find win+prtscrn quicker, and just using prtscrn is nice for quickly entering a screenshot in a chat or something without actually saving it. I also use delete a whole lot, especially when coding. Enough to definitely want it to be its own key, and to frequently press the (stupidly placed) power button on my laptop that is right next to it so much that I already annoyed just thinking about it. While I get that most people never use the majority of the non-alphabet or digit keys, I will use the majority of a full sized keyboard. The only exceptions would be scroll lock, pause break, insert, and the numpad enter (which I should change). I admit that I haven't delved into reassigning keys since it's a bit of a hassle (especially when I'm using multiple computers) and I'm always confused when it doesn't do what it says on the label.

    Have had this keyboard for a few weeks with the fleeting gold switches and really like them.
    - The caps lock indicator is one of the three lights in the top right.
    - The dial for the rgb brightness can be clicked to cycle through the rgb modes, but can also be set with the software.
    - You didn't mention the dipswitches but, they are covered on the quickstart guide.
    - Disagree about the wrist rest 'needing' magnets. Haven't had any issues with it moving and sometimes I choose to move it slightly further back etc. It's a heavy bar of acrylic, not sure how hard you'd have to be gaming to make it move.
    - Aaaand disagree about the handle, I think it's a fun (albeit pointless) design choice in an otherwise very bland product category, and it fits the styling of the board well.
    I got the yellow-ish board and have never felt like more of a dystopian desert wasteland hacker 😂.
    P.S. the cable that came with mine was black which was disappointing, sticks out like a sore thumb with the yellow board, and will definitely be replacing it. Odd place to cut costs, but 🤷‍♂️ not a huge deal.

    • @WARnTEA
      @WARnTEA 11 месяцев назад +11

      Yea I dislike this host. Its like he knows just enough to be dangerous. He says a lot of ignorant things about products because he doesn’t understand the 😅nuance at all. His comments about wishing the keyboard was $100 more for a metal case, or with mixed plastic and metal was a particularly bad take. He doesn’t understand why the custom keyboard community prefers metal, he just knows that most expensive boards are made out of metal.
      Also, him assuming that the handle wasn’t functional is wild. Imagine being an engineer spending weeks on that handle making sure it was strong enough for a chucklehead to show up and immediately think that it would break. He doesn’t even have experience with other keyboard handles breaking its just a completely uninformed critique, that he could have easily tested by swinging the keyboard around by the handle or opening up the keyboard to see what kind of mounting solutions they are using.

    • @audiocorps2334
      @audiocorps2334 11 месяцев назад +6

      @WARnTEA Well, the keyboard handle isn't really useful. Like, it's an expensive keyboard, why the hell would you lug it around below your waist...? Swing it? Hi, did you forget this is a KEYBOARD and NOT a mace? It's nice aesthetics but functionally it is both useless and stupid even for an enthusiast. The engineer who got paid for using their skills to make such a pointless component was probably nice side cash for them I guess.
      Keyboard community wants? Who made you in charge of deciding individual preference? Custom keyboard enthusiasts would build their own boards from sourced parts, solder, and/or 3D print them. Guy wants a sturdy frame for his keyboard. You don't? Good for you.

      @TemporallyYours 11 месяцев назад +4

      @@WARnTEAI'm a Plouffe fan, but I think the short circuit unboxing style in general just leaves a bit to be desired. These are quick looks at products that for the most part they haven't spent much time with. I'm sure LMG doesn't want to spend a ton of time and resources on shooting these either. I look at them as a jumping off point and try and take the critiques with a grain of salt until I've had a chance to find some more in depth reviews.
      Do I wish they spent more time and gave a more nuanced look? Sure, but you can tell from the details overlooked or gotten wrong here that isn't really the directive they are being given.

    • @DelScully

      @@DelScully Acoustics is another reason. Depending on the material, the sound of the switches actuating differs like thuds, thumps, thok, etc. It's notable with tactiles and linears since they're more geared towards having mechanical feel with "natural" keyboard clacking compared to clicky switches. Honestly, it's just a really pretentious thing to be concerned about unless your ears are annoyingly sensitive.

      Oh man, there's so much I would do if I were to design a premium keyboard. First of all, why have an RGB keyboard and not have the caps lock turn white or something in the stock rainbow vomit scheme (and make it otherwise addressable)? Why not add extra buttons for the bulky desktop keyboards and something like a slide-out trackpad for the portable ones, or a metal handle, or a cushion?
      But most of all, I'd want a keyboard with a hub that features a couple of usb plugs and an sd/microsd card reader. The usb is more so an afterthought, but I cannot see where else we can have card readers nowadays. It's strange that so many laptops come with one (even macbooks!), but you basically need an adapter nowadays for sd cards in a desktop (due to the death 5.25" bays in almost all cases). It'd be so much nicer if a reader was integrated in some way...

      as a French developer, I've bought a ISO FR Keychron Q1 as my first mechanical keyboard but I've been considering switching to US ANSI for a while now, idk it seems more adequate for programming and I don't really think I'll miss the french special characters such as accents.
      At first I thought it would be tough to switch but I've been forced to use german keyboards at work and I realised that I've adapted pretty quickly !! Like 1 week. So this nuphy may be my first US ANSI keyboard......

    • @WARnTEA
      @WARnTEA 11 месяцев назад +3

      Agreed. It was super weird that he praised the company for that plastic. Most tech reviewers hate when companies use an unnecessary amount of plastic in their packaging vs just using cardboard, due to environmental reasons.
      I agree though, the dual usecase of the quickstart guide as a poster is great. Most people don’t read a manual again after the initial unboxing so its cool that it could still be used for something and if they really need to see the manual again they just need to take the poster down.
