Gears of War Judgment didn't deserve the hate. Sure the game wasn't similar in fashion to the original trilogy, but it opened the door to many fun possible directions for the franchise to evolve and become greater. Not to mention, it was a completely faithful developed Gears of War game, unlike the Sequel trilogy games (Gears of War 4 and Gears 5) in my opinion.

You deserve more credit and attention for your work my friend, almost every last word you said in this video was great because I believed the same way. I thought gears judgment was a great game and showed how our characters became the people who loved. I played almost every last gears game and I can you that judgment is not a bad game, I had a lot of fun especially seeing new enemies and new characters that were great in my opinion. I love how they showed us that cole was awesome in the beginning, he finishing the cog and needed to see what war does to you. I truly believe that judgment should get a second chance and be loved as a gears game for what it tired to be different. I enjoyed the campaign for this game but the problem lied in the changes to multiplayer. When you have something that’s been core to the multiplayer for 3 games such as DBNO state, 4 starting weapons and the Locust characters, it feels more natural and right to have that and it wasn’t a smart move to change that aspect. It just didn’t feel the same. I still think Overrun was one of the best game modes they have developed though and I want that to return. I don’t hate the game, I just wish they didn’t change what was core to the previous instalments in multiplayer. The multiplayer died so quick and even a few days after it’s release in March 2013, the numbers were higher on GOW 3. If they didn’t change the multiplayer mechanics and included Locust characters within other multiplayer modes besides Overrun, I guarantee the game woulda got better reception.

    I love this game, but I didn't hear any of the complaints here that I heard back when. People had problems with;
-The lack of playable Locust in the standard multiplayer
    -The removal of Horde Mode
    -The change in control scheme
-The nickel-&-diming with all the cosmetic DLC
-The focus on aesthetics like Armor & Weapon skins
    -The lack of playable characters.
-The small-scale feel compared to Gears of War 3
-Cole not quite looking right (this also goes for Baird a bit)
-And my complain about the characters' personality/dialogue writing feeling a tad off.
I personally Loved this game. It's fast and franetic with that arcadey kinda feel. Constant action and a cool story, althoug Karn had 0 personality and realistically no relevance aside from being the "face" of the opposing Locust force. And I get it; 1 was Raam, 2 was Skorge, and 3 was Mirrah. 4 faltered by only having the Speaker, but like Karn it's better than nothing I guess.

Honestly, this game hard a solid story and good PvE, but I'm a multiplayer player. This game played more like call of duty with wall bouncing rather then gears. No locust in multiplayer, you only spawn with one gun and a snub, the melee broke the gun play, the gnashed was inconsistent, this I just some of the things that ruined the game for me.

Nah, we just didn’t like judgment because of the change of controls, gameplay(for example: asymmetric maps, humans vs humans) and lack of content (maps, characters) all of that coming from the multiplayer, which is where we spend most of our time, after beating the campaign.
The story wasn’t the best, but it was interesting to know a little bit more about the lore of the gears universe, but it was just that: interesting.
Also I understand (correct me if I’m wrong) that the game was rushed by Microsoft, that’s why Epic collaborated with People can Fly.
Overall, judgment was a pretty interesting game, almost felt as an experiment, but an experiment that didn’t highlight.

Gears of war judgment was a great game. It started off to a horrible start (mutiplayer wise), but sadly, by the time epic fixed all of the issues like lack of maps, two-piece, shitty shotgun, not spawning with both primarys, everyone spawning with grenades that stick to opponents, etc most people had already went back to gow3.
Also, it always bothered me how the gamemode overrun was seemingly forgotten. It was arguably the best edition to gears of war period, and was super fun. Not to mention, the campaign is my favorite of any gears, right next to Gow2. Still to this day my favorite gears game. Gowj is also the gears that brought us FFA to begin with.

You know what I do wonder,
With Loomis, his personality, and development after the story, if he saw the hopeleness of defending Halvo Bay to death and pulled out rather than have the humans lose another important leader, how would he have fared?
How would it have changed the time line and trilogy? How much of a role would Hoffman have had as he would not have been the only Colonel? How different would COG decisions and ultimately the war have been? How would he have contributed to the war and trilogy games? How would he and Hoffman have got along? Would Prescott have trusted him more, particularly between 2-3 due to his staunch by-the-book and subordinate attitude?
    We'll never know.
But I can imagine in the original game, at 70 years old, walking out of the King Raven after the jailbreak to present the light mass bomb plans to Delta, walking aggressively, with an angry and aggressive, imposing look (Hard to explain) due to how the war was going.

    • @SuperFowlMouth
      @SuperFowlMouth Год назад

To be honest I had no problem with the Campaign aside from the fact that the AI on Insanity can get you killed faster than the Locust does.
However at times you can strategically plan around situations where you can use the enemies tactics against them, like on the Declassified mission where a bunch of Ragers with the breachshot try to swarm you,you can plug up on or two of the E-holes and set up the turret with a good line of sight to piss them off to force them to transform and then use the Sawed-Off when they get close and you have the ammo box that refills that on the left side for later.

I think the Gears games shouldn’t have continued the story after 3, but release different kinds of Gears games in different periods of the Locust and maybe Lambent War. If people (including myself) weren’t as critical and syndical and gave the game a more open mind then perhaps the Gears franchise would be much different than it is now. For better or for worse is up to interpretation, but I do believe we wouldn’t have gotten a game like *Gears 5* if we hadn’t discouraged them.
The fact RAAM’s Shadow was a better game than Gears 5 is just sad, a DLC outdid a full feature game. I hope we get another Judgement, it’s better than anything the Coalition has made thats for sure.

For a game that's timeline that's before gears of war 1, telling history between Baird and Cole, with addition to paduk that they was gonna use in the future, showing lore and even hearing that they rescued Marcus and Dom from a distance, it was fucking amazing :D still want to know what happened to Sophia after getting caught
The gameplay and the struggle with the amount of locust you have to deal with that gave you that "Aw shit.. ._." moment, and the music kept me hyped
Definitely by far my hardest gears of war game (now 5 since they bought back one of the guys who worked on gears, now making these swarm tough tanky reactive basterds x.x)
The multiplayer I wasn't to fond of because I couldn't play as locust, the getting rid of getting down made sense since considering every time you go down your opponent will still shoot you to death, so going down in the other gears games was kinda useless considering your team is usually somewhere else (or if you have my terrible luck, having a team mate right next to you when your down and he decides to keep shooting at the enemy and you and your teammate dies)

Putting campaign aside, because I think the campaign was the best part of the game
The main problem I have with this Gears game is they had so many downgrades that they masked as something beneficial
    1. No Locust in multiplayer
When I first heard this I was kinda upset, then I was told from Epic in some video that the main reason for the removal of the Locust from versus was because of there inconsistent hit boxes. After hearing that I was like ok, makes sense we will see how it goes. But after launch it became apparent that it was most likely done out of sheer laziness. If they no longer have to work on Locust characters, why is there only like 10 COG characters in the entire game?Especially compared to previous games which had multiple characters to choose from along with there different versions. Make it make sense
    2. No downs
Another apparent upgrade that in reality was a downgrade, idk what they were tryna accomplish with that one, maybe a faster paced experience but all it did was take away those epic moments of saving/being saved at the last second just before getting killed, something that Gears always had from the start. Idk if this is true but I heard that the real reason for the removal of downs was because if it was implemented they would have to spend more development time on it
Which leads me to believe that Gears of War Judgment was just a shameless cash grab, and its why I regard this game as the 1st slap in the face from the devs to the fans, the other slaps would later come from The Coalition. Notice how Epic wasn’t planning on working on any other Gears games after Judgment, it was to be shelved…until Microsoft came in and bought it, only leaving me to think even more that it was just a cash grab
Not all things were bad tho in terms of Multiplayer, I think Overrun was a very good mode that just needed a little tweaking to be even better. Why they abandoned that mode in future games is beyond me.

The judgement story is fine. But the stop and go nature is really really annoying and destroys the sense of space that most gears games give you.
Weirdly enough this is fixed in aftermath. Which doesn’t have the weird stoping every 5 minutes.
The games lore is mostly fine. Obviously tho the lancer shouldn’t exist yet.
The game did do some cool stuff with exploring the UIR, however gears tactics and 5 expanded on this heavily later on.
The gameplay changes suck. I’ve mentioned the stop and go to tally your arcade style points, but the 2 gun shift is really dumb. It destroys a key nature of the gears sandbox. It also near instantly made a lot of guns useless. This also changed other things, like the fact you can carry a shield and use a primary weapon now.

The only things I wish they had changed was the weapon inventory to be like prior Gears games (D-pad, 3 weapons and grenades) and in the campaign got rid of the star scoring system and declassified bits as well as make the transition between some chapters smoother by adding in more and dragging out some of the levels a bit. The actual story of the game was great plus Baird is my favorite character in Gears
