Just received one for my wife. She really likes it. The step through feature is key for her. Ours did come with hydraulic brakes and the upgraded 5 speed system. It's actually 6. If you hold the - button down at 0 it goes to P ? I think this is for walking the bike in power mode. I did not have to do any adjustments. Rack is on backorder till the first week of October. The pedals are eh and I'll probably replace them. Overall very pleased.

I see the Velotric Discover 2 out now. It checked off all my boxes so I started research before buying. I may pass on it due to the HORRIBLE high percentage of customer complaints and the terrible customer service.

I held off on this brand because the price seemed high, and many reviewers complained about the mechanical brakes. Well, I checked back in on their website a few days ago, and the price is now $1299, and they take $200 off if you order two. And they now have hydraulic disc brakes. AND, to sweeten the deal, they throw in steel folding (no cable) lock. So I ordered two and am waiting for the delivery. We can't wait to try them out!
Did you get your bikes yet?? I see that they actually call out "Hydraulic Disc Brakes" in one spot on their site and then "and double mechanical disc brakes" in another section. I sent them an email to get clarification. I am going to bet that the brakes are going to be mechanical but we will see what they say.

They immediately said they would pay to have new hydraulic brakes put on, and instructed me to take it to a local bike shop. I was not happy, and I told them I even stated in my order hydraulic brakes only and I have an email from them stating I would receive that. I dropped off the bike this past weekend at the bike shop, and I will have to see if they keep their promise to pay for it. It's going to be about $200. My guess is that Velotric figured this was cheaper then "eating" any inventory they have. That being said, I rode the bike to the shop (about 5 miles) and it ran perfectly. I ran thru all the gears and used all three speed-assists. I was very happy with how the bike handled and operated. My second bike (Cyan) just shipped and is supposed to arrive this Friday, Sept 23. I had told the person on the phone do not let that bike ship without hydraulic brakes. Hopefully they get it right this time. EDIT SEP 28: I have received the second bike, and it did have the hydraulic brakes. It also has 5 assist speeds versus the 3 with the other version. BUT, the bike showed up without the rear rack. The good news is that Veloctric is sending that to me, and also good news is that I have already reveived back a credit for taking the first bike into get the mechanical brakes switched out. So far very good customer service!
At least you got your battery to fit, mine will not install. The battery contacts seem to be hanging up on their own housing preventing installation and electrical contact. Junk.
Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to use both the pedal assist and the throttle simultaneously? Do the effects compound or is there no difference, like say if you are going uphill?
I’ll do a video on this because i get asked it a lot but basically your motor is either on or off. If you are engaging in pedal assist your motor will be “on” just like if you are using the actually throttle. So, it doesn’t really help unless you are taking breaks in pedaling. Obviously, pedaling plus pedal assist/throttle is better than just throttle for speed.
Yes you can! actually, throttle would not work unless pedal assist is on! It is not that noticeable when you do use the throttle on level 1 or 2! Mostly when it's on level assist 3.
How tall are you? I see the bike has a range of 5’1-6’4 and want to know if a tall rider will still be able to ride comfortably in an upright position.
@@WeTriedIt That makes me worried, I thought the bike looked a little small for you, like you weren’t fully extending your legs when you pedaled, raising the seat unfortunately would probably take you out of that upright position. You do seem comfortable though. Thank you for your reply.
Here are my thought regarding this bicycle after a few rides. The bike is ok for the price, however they sacrificed quality on a couple of things. the biggest is the BRAKES! pretty bad and cheap! I had to take to the shop to adjust after just a few rides with-in a month after I bought it! the back one was out of whack and just stopped applying! A friend said the same thing, he actually said he had to replace his and paid for a better brake, I believe I will end up replacing! Second, although it's a one size fits all, The frame is big for smaller people, it would be more comfortable for people 5'6" or above, because if you are shorter, you have to lower the seat so much that it would sit directly above the pedals and makes pedaling more difficult or awkward! the third issue is the weight, at 64 lbs it's really heavy to transport! Fourth, the motor seems a little weak for a 500w. other than that, the ride is decent, comfortable and handles well.
how does this peddle with zero power? If you just want to manually pedal, or if something went wrong with the power and you had to peddle it.....how easy is it? On a scale of 1 - 10 perhaps? Thanks
If you press and hold the power switch for about 6 seconds, the PAS asks for a 4 digit pass code. I haven't cracked this yet but, my guess is you can change some settings. Also, if you press and hold the UP and DOWN buttons, it allows for some basic setting changes. Wheel size, blacklist intensity and a few others.
You'd be right on the edge - since the bike height listed starts at 5'1". It says the minimum seat height is 480mm, which the translation doesn't make sense to me in feet/inches.
