Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. We started out with Somnium, an O'day 272, moved onto Freebie, an Endeavour 32, and now are focusing on sailboat tours and working full time as teachers while we save up for our next boat.

I loved this video!!! My dad, Pop Pop, and uncles built her. She’s beautiful! We really enjoyed watching this and seeing how she was kept in great shape. Much love and support from the Cherubinis!!!!
What a nice feeling, have a Cherubini comment in a Cherubini boat video. Thanks for what your family has done for the sailing world! Claudio From Fort Lauderdale
Both of you so lovely and class!!! Best whishes and regards for 2022!!!
I absolutely love my Cherubini! ❤
Wow, what a beauty! If only.....
By way of introduction, I am a 73 year old Vietnam veteran having served 4 years in the Navy, spending nearly 3 years at sea. I went on to become a social worker for nearly 45 years..many of those as a child protective caseworker. As such, I have seen the worst of our society. Please do as others have advised, do not read the comments of those sad individuals whose only purpose in life appears to be spreading hate and decension. You two are absolutely amazing. Not only by the fact that you are so adventurous. The fact that you have done this on your own initiative, intelligence, skills and work ethic. I particularly enjoy watching as you encounter each new challenge and the manner in which you resolve the problem with research and intelligent , reasoned thought. Jade, you are absolutely kick ass and I am saddened and angry that, even in a small way, these hateful individuals have caused you any distress. You two are the perfect complement to each other. a I would be terribly disappointed not to be able to vicariously participate in your future expeditions where ever they may lead. I have a 24 foot O'Day that I only sail on fresh water. That is why I appreciate the journey you are undertaking since I missed my opportunity to do the same. Stay safe, stay strong.
Thank you for your service, sir.
FYI, @ Andrew Schoening, I'm pretty sure this comment belongs on the Evans' video blog page, not this one ;-)
That yacht is downright immaculate for it's age. I have a Hunter Cherubini 33 and I never even knew John Cherubini designed a schooner. Impressive.
There seem to have been multiple layouts - the sailplan in the book shows a Ketch.
That is one of the nicest sailboats i have seen on here. that old classic design is a thing of beauty and she looks to be worth every penny.
The perfect boat for me alone..or for two or for a familiy!!
just amazing - and professional presentation - no fuss no frills NOBLESS OBLIGUE for a Cherubini - my Dream yacht !
Just saw one of these in person. Quite a delightful boat. Nice video.
What a gorgeous boat!
The woodwork alone is stunning, absolutely gorgeous boat!
We own a Cherubini 44. What you didn't say about them is how well they sail, and how fast they are. Try a test sail some time. Lovely to get a video tour of our boat's big sister!
Any videos of her under sail?
Wow she is gorgeous
I love schooners, this makes my heart palpitate. Such nice bright work and it is not in need of restoration but that would come after she has been examined by a professional on the hard. Thank you for such a great tour and all the work you put into these Vlogs. Stay safe and well in these tumultuous times.
Lovely yacht. Really nice to see yachts like this one.
BURL door panels are very impressive and rare. Top notch
Indeed.
I thought it pretty much went without saying how you were gaining access to these boats, obviously not. This was another great video keep it up.
Well edited, enjoy your video’s.
Beautiful classic schooner.
Groovy video.
Beautiful woodwork throughout
The most beautiful boat I've ever seen...
She's in excellent shape, a true veteran to survive any sea.
Yep, It is a beautiful yacht. Would love to see some video of her underway with full sails!
That would be excellent. I think it is only missing a dolphin "seat" over the bow and maybe some solar/wind/battery power, otherwise!
$420K is out of my range... maybe some day!

@@pearlyshells2430 Wo-hoo! Tenfold beauty "live"!
The fisherman's staysail gives reason to the narrow mast slot on the foremast, and the main staysail on the front boom is in clear view!
@@pearlyshells2430 No comments allowed nor price indicated . MMM what makes me wonder why ?
@@pearlyshells2430 Thanks for that, much appreciated!
Not only have you guys covered some real amazing boats/vessels but I've also learned a lot, thanks.
The vintage feeling is quite wonderful - just viewing the vessel is an adventure…
And thank you for clarifying how the channel functions 👍🏼
Groovy....
Piano hinges on every cabinet, that’s a real sign of quality.
Drop dead beautiful boat and excellent presentation…
Thanks for posting and sharing. Very luxuriously appointed vessel.
Really cool boat. Old school craftsman
Some people have no imagination that they can’t figure out that you could tell someone hey I’m gonna give your boat exposure to more people who might be interested in buying it and it won’t cost you a thing. Especially once you establish yourself as you have and you can show them here’s our RUclips channel and some of the other boats we’ve done walk-throughs on. And as you say it’s a win-win all the way around. Owner has a better chance of finding someone to buy their boat broker gets exposure at no expense and you can make your money off your videos. So keep up the good work and try to ignore the naysayers a little bit. Take care of that lovely family of yours and happy sailing when the time finally comes.
What a beautiful boat. I bet Randi loved this one too😊👍👍👍👍
Videos just aren’t the same without your other half. They are more in depth with the two of you. Hope to see her back soon. Thanks for sharing. Great video.
Wow! DRAM indeed! ♥️ ♥️😍
Excellent tour, good video and narrative. Schooner is my favorite rig and this one doesn't disappoint. She
probably sails like a dream! NICE!
Another very beautiful boat, awesome!
Nice job on the video beautiful boat love the craftsmanship.
I'm pretty sure the deck ladder into the forward head means it was designed as the entry for the crew into their crew quarters.
The burlwood used for the cabinetry inlays was a real standout! In this case I think the gloss varnish added favoprably to the look!
That placard with the routed out number was more likely the USCG documentation number which is required to be displayed for courtesy inspections.
Also the mizzen mast didn't have a "main" sail. The mizzen just supported the foresail on its forestay with a self-tacking boom The point is significant and I thought deserved mentioning.
This is a staysail schooner. It has a Mainmast aft and a Foremast forward. It has a main sail on the mainmast. It has a main staysail on the stay which runs from the base of the foremast to the top of the main mast. It has a forestay which runs from the bow to a point most of the way up on the foremast. A fore staysail would normally be hung from that forestay, though this boat does not have one in place. And it has a jib or genoa rolled up on the stay that goes from the tip of the bowsprit to the top of the foremast. It's actually not nearly as complicated as it sounds. :-) There is no mizzen anything on a schooner. That would be a ketch or yawl or various other more complex configurations.
😍 Talk about liveaboard!
Wow the stunningly beautiful wood had my jaw in the blidge... Wow
Isn’t she a beauty?! My dad and his dad and uncles built her. It was great to see that she was well taken care of and admired by all!
@@donnakawana I love that word 'BLIDGE' ! I think it's a beautiful word which I'm sure will seep into the lexicon gradually.
Nobody is really worried about any of the things you spoke about at the end of your video...If they make those comments they are either sub 80 i.q. morons or they are trolls. I think its clear to anyone with half their brain tied behind their back what you guys are doing. Furthermore I would hope most people recognize the time and effort that goes into your videos and appreciate you guys for doing it and if anyone has an issue with you being compensated for your efforts then you can ask them what content they have on their channels...you guys work hard and deserve to be paid. thanks for your time...please though...don't feed the trolls.
Great video once again! Thanks. Beautiful schooner.
“Looking aft” not “looking to aft.” But a great video and a lovely vessel!
Always been a toss up between a Cherubini 48 and Herreshoff's Mistral for a beautiful clipper bowed, raked mast schooner. Great video.
Great boat. Seen similar fold down sinks onboard submarines for years.
It is a very interesting design. I am no fan of "wet heads", yet you can go from the deck to that main head, without messing up the rest of the cabins - probably why the bright work and wood work were so SHINY!
Great boat - I bet she is fast with fair conditions and an experienced crew!
They often say it can be "short handed". I really do not like this - esp on these boats - I mean sure - with a great crew - two or three could probably manage it well, even in rough weather. In bad weather - ALL HANDS ON DECK!
I wonder if she could race at 10 knots - to out run a slow storm (or vector away). Anyway - hurricanes generally run over 11 knows IIRC - on average.
Fair winds!
Ah, good you pointed out the rather concealed inside handholds! I was wondering about handholds as you walked through. Lovely boat.
Thank you for the tour of this superb yacht. Always been a fan of Cherubini's. My only criticism of this masterpiece is the in-mast furling and the varnished sole: Chuck the main mast and replace with a sailpak. All in-mast or in-boom furling has been an absolutely nutty development by designers over the years. No sole should be varnished. Splash some water on there and see what happens next when you're in a hurry.
Not kidding about the varnished sole. And agree about in mast furling.
Gorgeous classic! It's always nice to watch your reviews...thanks finding this beauty!
What a Dream ! Sweet!
She is a very beautiful boat. The exterior, interior and craftmanship is absolutely stunning. If I have to be a bit nitpicky, the modern bermuda rig does not suit her classic/traditional lines. In my humble opinion, she would look much better with a gaff rig.
Nice tour Jordan, much appreciated.
a beautiful boat
Perfect 😍 beautiful 😍
Thanks for your tour. Beautiful boat!
Keep doing what you are doing! Love you guys a LOT!
I love the the Craftsmanship. Beautiful!
Keep up what you doing you guys are awesome
Amazing yacht.
I love this boat.
Kwaliteit ❤🎉
Interior. I adore the classic yacht finish. When I upgrade to this type of vessel, I want the feel of a YACHT! The aesthetic (lack of) abidance of the French boats is that the square cornered, construction grade, Hotel 6, cabinetry and furnishings, feels like the Yugo of boatness. (Yes, I made that word up.) In contrast, this yacht has elegance and class. I really hope this vessel sails well, because otherwise, one has an expensive condo with a 360 degree water view. So, dude, speak to me of sailing, because otherwise a barge with an elegant interior is the competition.
You guys do an awesome job. Just found your site. Very well done and informative. Forget the naysayers. Thanks for the good work.
Randy, keep it up wonderful concept, as you say a Win Win Win😁
Thanks for the walk-through, now I know how 'the other half' sail (more like 2%) !
There didn't seem to be adequate birthing for the cleaning/polishing crew in addition to the deck crew... :) Maybe they sailed alongside, like a tender does to a battleship!
I missed getting up-close with the engine, perhaps that was the part under construction.
I imagine if Captain Q had shown this boat he would have vanished midway through and become a stowaway.
Glad to have you back doing these video's. Have you had the baby yet? Are you planning on leaving the shore anytime soon? Again, welcome back!
Sun in the lenses
BEAUTIFUL
You guys are great, hoping to buy a boat in the near future.
What a boat!!!! 😍
Awesome boat.. love the layout..
Beautiful. This is a lot of boat for the money. In really good shape too. Maintenance on such a boat is a full time job and someone is getting tired. Not sure it is that easy to set sail and go even with all the electric help. I would love to sail it and see. Not my kind of boat but thanks for showing us.
Really cool boat
Another great video! Awesome boat.
Lovely boat. That book on the salon table by Ferenc Mate is great reading (as are his other "Best Boat" volumes in the series), and I find him somewhat inspiring: He's a man who managed to make a modest fortune in the pre-Internet "old media world" on little more than average photography and writing skills accompanied by singularly excellent taste in boats (of which this Cherubini is but one). I raise my glass to him :-)
Great job , keep it up.
Beautiful boat! Too much upkeep for me, but it's exactly the kind of boat I love to see other people own.
It is a beautiful boat. No question. I was expecting more of a rear “stateroom”. The bed was a little smaller than I would like. I would LOVE to see it underway. I know that would be hard to work out with the owners though. Great video.
Surprisingly little accommodation for such a big boat
Thankyou for taking the trouble to share this with us. Here are my thoughts on her. Is that the only Helm on the aft end ? I would say to work on that engine would be real fun. Especially in a heaving sea. She has a nice layout. But more time, and effort has been spent on the finishes than on the engine compartment which is a vital part of her operations. And one can see why it looks like it does. You cannot get at the other side, how do you do checks, and repairs? I would also take off $60,000.00 + off the price. That engine is going to need a lot of work on it in the future.
As for the boat... Wow! Clearly designed by sailors. I particularly like the narrow companion way from the entrance stairs, through the starboard side of the kitchen island and into the salon area. A similar narrow space in the kitchen is perfect cooking while underway. Is the stove on a gimbal? It is indeed a beautiful sailboat!
Nice boat! Great review!
Nice tour, thanks. Always liked the Cherub schooner... a very nice "gentleman's yacht", but not really a liveaboard cruiser. That clipper bow and overhanging stern mean you have the accommodations of a 40', but with two keel stepped masts in the cabin. Niche boat for a niche buyer, but if this is your thing, she's as good as it gets.
Awesome..
If you could add type of core materials used.. hull and deck.. in your videos... that would have been nice... 🙂
You have to read the book, in the boat, about that boat you are in, then you bookception yourself and suddenly all is clear!
Hitting all checkboxes for a finely fitted yacht.
This reminds me of looking at very nice, old houses. Especially Dutch colonials homes. They have a lot of charm and if taken care of can be very cozy and nice. Defiantly have an appeal. However, they will naturally lack some of the modern comforts that you would normally expect. For example, yes it is large and beautiful. the wood is extremally nice and it feels like a classic world traveling live aboard ship. but there are a lot of tight spaces, the entry is very steep, the cockpit table and seats are less comfortable to get in and out of and so on. Like those homes, it feels classic and iconic. But for those same reasons, it also feels old. There is nothing wrong with that at all, just depends what your looking for.
The other end of this is a modern catamaran. Nothing classic feeling about it really, but you have all the modern comforts like real bedrooms, a living room, a patio, extra stability, ect. Just a the cost of catamarans not having a ship like feeling. Something like a Sirius 35 or 40 is more like what I want. Just enough ship to feel like sailing, just modern enough to feel like home.
Beautiful boat but the price demands a very motivated buyer and love at first sight. I’d recommend adding additional technical and inventory info including engine/generator hours and adding some allure by weaving the “story of the boat” into the video possibly along with a shake out sail. Great work though!
That's unbelievable! Totally in Lust. That is like eating an ANGEL & PHELPS chocolate ! Nothing FINER !
buit in NJ on the Delaware River just north of Philadelphia
Excellent additional commentary with respect to your integrity with both boat owners and brokers. I'd suspected the same from your demeanor (both of you), and can't help but wonder why anyone would think otherwise, particularly given Google's RUclips advertising reimbursement model. Your video views and subscriber numbers speak for themselves.
Cool boat. Expensive, but cool. And all that bright work means you'd better have kids/crew to keep up with the maintenance ;-)
Lovely boat
I enjoy your videos for the high quality camera work but would like to request that you take a still shot or, at least, linger on the instrument control panel in order for the viewer to grasp what the boat has to off, air conditioning, electric heads, etc.. I'm in the market for a live aboard and have a sneaking suspicion that you guys may have the same idea rolling around in the back of your heads while in search of the perfect boat. All the best and keep em coming!
It's a very nice review but I do wish you had mentioned that the interior and exterior wood work is in very nice condition.
He did he just referred to it as bright work several times!!!
Hahaha
The sarcasm is running as thick as syrup!
He raved about the beauty of the woodwork two or three times. But he did not mention the teak deck's condition, which he could have eyeballed better than the video. He also did not mention any history of upgrades, maintenance, engine hours, brand of sails, or age of the condiments in the galley cupboards.
I guess people are unable to read....after all, there is a disclaimer at the start of the video. Anyways, for me, it's a pleasure to see the boats you present. Cheers
A boat this size and no mention of the dinghy or David's!
Beautiful wood not a lover of to many design oddities to bad. I'd love to find old good woodwork /brass lamp ect..
I love the content you produce and have had many dreams where I was sailing on a boat exactly like this one you toured. Anyone would be lucky to call this boat theirs and I am sure that it will sell speedily at this price. I am always shocked at the level of disclaimers that you tubers are encouraged to voice in their videos to explain themselves as if it was anyone's business anyways.
Love your videos A question about teak decks, I am a woodworker but never worked on any boats. How do they tie/screw down the teak decks to the boat? It the teak deck entirely waterproof or does the sub-structure channel the water off the boat?
I thought your disclaimer at the start of the video's explained what you did but obviously some people cannot read and others just love to troll you. Don't worry about it too much. The fore main sail looks like it's a jib type sail with a hard boom , with the electric winches it would be easy to raise. The only thing I didn't like was the stove was near the center of the boat and not gimballed. Other than that , lovely yacht. Way out of my price range though. thanks for the video.
Agreed, except that strictly speaking, on the fore boom is the "main staysail" because it is hoisted to the main mast. ruclips.net/video/M3Jovh1LHEc/видео.html (courtesy to Pearly Shells) shows this model under full (?) sails.
That is one beautiful boat!
Just wondering, have any brokers or owners told you that a sale was made directly because of one of your walkthroughs? That would be a good feeling I reckon.
Actually, we have sold two boats as a result of Randi and Jordan's videos. They do a fantastic job of filming and describing the boats they review and the exposure is fantastic. We have gotten inquiries from all over the world due to their videos. Keep up the great work!
