Ok, that interior was just MIND blowing SWEET, finish was outstanding, layout was PERFECT in every way, you could live in the main suite and have your 1st mate and crew actually live in the front area with their own bathroom and shower! Just outstanding! * honorable mention was the fridge/freezer insulation was the biggest i have ever seen on any sailboat that cost under one million dollars, it was NO joke!
Couldn't agree with you more on being just about the perfect boat. The layout is exactly what we would want. Thank you for your time Jordan, and ignore the asshat comments below. You do a wonderful job in portraying an INTRODUCTORY video of vessels.... those that need more info can go and look at boats themselves!! Hi to Randi!!
The painting in the salon is, appropriately, "Hylas and the Nymphs" by John William Waterhouse, also on the wall in my house. The original is in the Tate Gallery, London.
Well, Jordan- that answers all my Hylas questions! Beautiful, elegant, functional & all of my dream desires wrapped into one well built boat! Like you, I like a full aft cabin & a pullman/ fore head design (Hunter 41 DS), but- the attention to detail, the vast cabinets everywhere, huge engine room- Wow! I'm in love. Like many, it exceeds my budget but a lot, but- dreaming is good, right? Hmmm, I even like the tidy 46' length- can fit into more harbors under 50'... Thank you & congrats to you both on your new home & baby boy!
Great video and my dream yacht. You forgot to show the best thing about Hylas yachts. Open the electrical panel to see the most impeccable and well labeled wiring you’ve ever seen. One guy does all the wiring for Queen Long and he does incredible work.
Top decks seem in great shape. Serious sailboat. Really great layout and much more interior luxury than most sailors deserve. Randy, you are right on this one!
Best layout and beautiful interior I've every seen. That is a lot of boat! I"m a little short on cash, about $300K short, but it would be fun to own a cruiser like that.
Check out the comfort ratio... It would be a beautiful place to vomit for some people... for its size it’s pretty light. Wouldn’t really want it in the southern or northern oceans.... ideal for Fairweather though
This Hylas certainly checks all the boxes. Thanks for covering a true blue-water, live aboard, that doesn't require serious work (isinglass is quite fogged, no biggie)! After looking at the specs, I didn't see any mention of the bow thruster, and you didn't mention it either...but it appears on the port side of the binnacle in your video...or it sure looks like one. For shorthanded sailing, it's definitely worth mentioning. Thanks again!
Quality, comfort and style. What more can you ask for...half the price... that’s just dreaming.

I sailed a fin keel double spreader sloop from S. Cali to Hawaii to Seattle, to S. Cali. No fin keel Marconi sloop is a good offshore cruising boat. Boat number two had a medium keel with an attached rudder and a junk schooner rig with a pilot house. I took the scenic route from Seattle to Hong Kong via New Zealand. Boat number two was ideal! Boat number 3 would be a catamaran with inside/ outside steering stations and a twin reefable wingsail rig.
I enjoy your channel, you and your wife do a thorough exam of every sail boat you present. That said I would like if you two would talk more about sails that come with the boat. I have found that sails are a big expense when purchasing a sail boat.
.... in the forward shower, the big doors on the port side, do they house a washer and dryer .... great tour Jordan ..... never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....
I owned a Hylas 46 for seven years. The forward head is very nice but the pullman berth is too much of a sacrifice. Two adults could never sleep there comfortably. Anyone >6 foot tall couldn’t sleep there either. On the plus side, the boat is very fast and easily maneuvered. The aft stateroom is very comfortable and Hylas does a magnificent job on the mattress. The galley is very workable and I like that little room is sacrificed for a NAV station… just about ready from my perspective. The cockpit is comfortable with easy access to the deck. My version had the main sheet traveler mounted just aft of the cockpit making sail handling a breeze for everything. The lazarettes on the rear deck are huge and large enough to hold spare fenders etc. so that nothing remains on deck. My boat had an arch with solar panels mounted on top along with an outboard motor hoist, dinghy davits, integrated liferaft and secure ring buoy storage. My criticisms are too many pumps (36 in total!), vulnerable rudder only about 4 inches shallower than the keel. Very poor engine access although assessable from all sides, just cramped. As I recall the displacement was around 27,000 pounds that severely limited motoring into the wind.
That price is definitely over my budget but that boat is in a league that warrants the price. What an absolutely beautiful piece of work. I could definitely see myself sailing to many places and often with the luxuries it provides. Everything ran to the cockpit and electric winches are my dream. The inside is beautiful and it is perfect for living aboard all year. Thanks for the tour of a really awesome boat. I like to see tours in my price range under $150,000 but I like to have an idea what is out there for my someday dream. Kiss that baby. She grows up so quick.
Thanks for your efforts, you are offering us a great service showing different options. Whoever, it would be even better if you could give us information about the keels format and some comments regarding the boats sailing performance.
The island berth is nice - if there are two people in it, no one has ti get up if their partner gets up. Hylas makes nice boats with lots of good features. On the engine, I'm curious to know what's on the right side (against the closed wall) Hopefully it's nothing you would need to access under way while the engine is running or shortly thereafter. The forward head is probably unusable in any kind of seaway. Overall, I'd say this is a lovely boat for day sailing or the occasional overnight. For longer passages there would need to be modifications to accommodate the crew. Still, a beautiful boat that someone will be proud to own.
Jordan & Randi; I've been searching for my "next boat" for about five months. I've recently closed on this Hylas 46 and am completing a minor refit. I am in Palm Beach until April 5th, when I begin the process of bringing her around the FL Keys and home to Pass Christian, MS. Have you ever thought of doing a follow-up video talking about the process of deciding on a particular boat that you've featured?
Jordan, Since you like The Hylas 46 , check out the site, Captain Q, Yacht Hunter, Stevens 46/47 designed by S&S . Maybe you can find a original Stevens.46 in your part of the country. Enjoy
Great reviews. It would be nice if you could tell us more about the safety features on the boats. e.g. Waterproof doors, lockers etc., rather than storage, storage, storage. Thanks and great boats.
Jordan, I wonder if you would consider putting the model of the boat (Hylas 46) at the beginning of the episode title? It makes it so much easier to find later when I want another look. Most of the titles don't even have a boat model in them.
The general lay out reminds me of the Beneteau 40 CC from 1994 - also with forward head and Pullman bed . Though probably less blue water capable much nearer a realistic price range for the average buyer who plans to live a board.
I liked the hand hold rails all along the interior overhead. Didn't see what's under that aft cabin island bed but I'm guessing it's got room for sail storage.
I bet John Kretschmer would kick the tires on this model, he delivered a few...😉 Maybe in the future include the style and location of the tankage, what's below the floor boards is a big deal, thanks again for the tour of this great boat.
An interesting tour of living spaces. But a prospective buyer and serious sailor would like to know technical stuff like the electronics suite, engine and access to it and other mechanical. How many hours on the engine? Are the sails in need of replacement? The list goes on...
Great Boat pretty good tour, could have left out 3/4s of all the closet stowage, (the only thing he didn't open were the toilets). Great layout and features on the main deck, midship stays could have been on outboard edge of gunwales .. Great Boat.
Nice point is the use of a lot more SS than aluminum you see on similar boats like the SS deck hatches instead of the ‘Lewmar replace every 10 years before they leak and destroy your interior or deck core hatches’ Fair price too for a well kept 2007 boat. Cheers Warren

What about the mast, inside the cabin, it looked to me like it had some type of wood compartment surrounding it that could be opened. The drawback for me was the lack of cockpit storage. Everything that should have been stored in the cockpit was stored below.
In general I’m not a fan of mono hulls as full on live aboards, but this one has me changing my mind. Such a great layout, awesome use of space... very interesting for sure. My only complaint and it maybe just my eyes, but she seems to sit very low in the water. Again may just be me or maybe her beam is throwing me off.
I wonder why putting the cabin aft of the head isn’t more common. Both the head and the cabin benefit when the hallway is removed. It just makes more sense to put the bunk closer to mid ships for Comfort anyway. Unfortunately, a Hylas is way out of my price range.
Beautiful, and for the price and year it should be. Did it have in-mast furling? For me the price puts you well into the quality 40+ foot used catamaran market. I know cats are not for everyone, and this is not a "production" boat. Great video, thanks and keep them coming!
This is a lovely yacht. Having the head in the bow makes great sense. Quick question on the use of the term 'pullman berth': I though pullman berths are beds that fold down. Did this berth fold down; or does the term pullman berth means something else on a boat?
Thanks for these great videos. Would be great to hear insight on suitability for tubers taking on guest crews and empty nesters ready to rock. Lets see one size larger please!!
Love this boat! Great for a couple or small family. Top notch construction and finish. Most people will choke on the well-deserved price, me included. But if you sell the house and go cruising full time, why not?
Hello Jordan I didn’t get to finish what I was mainly writing about Just a quick note to possibly help you in the future in identifying equipment on a boat oh I am from Victoria British Columbia and cruise mainly the golf Islands there was a line on the stern
Pretty much a perfect boat that you're getting a lot for the price. The only thing I don't like is that she has a 6' 6" draft which would make her a little to deep for some of the islands/reefs especially in the South. Other than that she's gorgeous and would make any amazing live aboard cruiser. Oh and a water maker is she doesn't already have one would be an immediate add that and a small gen set...
The "emergency retrieval system" on the sb aft pushpit is a reel for a light lunch anchor. Quite common in Scandinavia and therabouts. Never really liked them, but whatever...
I believe that strapping on the reel on the aft pushpit is primarily for tying up to rocks by the stern like they do in scandinavia, but I may be wrong about that. Someone is more than likely to correct me.
Oh boy somehow this keeps getting posted without me finishing .anyways the belt type line on a real on the stern of this boat is not a safety line it’s for when anchoring in narrow anchorages to tie the stern to shore So a Boat doesn’t swing Around .very common in these parts .hope this helps .bast wishes with your new family member.
Holyshit what a layout, looks like the Hilton on the water ,,how many through valves ??? 500 sweet , great upload I better look for something a little cheaper.
I love the inside and the layout is wonderfull. love everything, but the cockpit is ok at best and I'm just not familiar enough with cutter rigging to know how that feels to sail but the deck dident feel very usable with how many obstructions it had. at this price range its great but has some exterior downsides.
Great video of a beautiful boat, and I'm sure it's worth the price! However, for similar interior layouts at much lower price points I would recommend folks look at the Catalina 42 Mk II or the Hunter 410. Wet head in the bow, pullman berth forward, spacious salon, head with separate shower aft, and queen berth in the aft cabin. Not quite as heavily built as the Hylas and not as much storage, but both are perfectly suitable for cruising to the Bahamas and the Caribbean, and many have gone much further. Not sure about the Catalina, but the Hunter 410 has a CE A rating.
@@clayfarnet970 My understanding is that Hunter started getting their larger boats CE rated in the 90's for marketing them in the EU. My '99 410 is CE A-rated.
Can you start looking at boats that people who want to find a boat to fix up and can afford? Most of us can afford these boats. I am looking at something around $25K and 37' minimum.
Unfortunately 25 K would buy something under water at that size. Even being a fixer upper thats worth in vesting it would be best to look for a 30 ft. Sailing is an expensive life style as You know.
Don’t listen to those guys. Go to boat trader. You can find some decent boats for affordable prices. Probably won’t be your dream boat but you’ll find something you can live with
@@seabournewolf2298 You can certainly find good boats for not a huge amount of cash, I could probably find a boat right now that fits his requirements, at least on paper in the listing made by a salesperson who wants to sell a boat. But unless you know what you're looking at (or hire a good surveyor), or get extremely lucky, buying even a normal boat means setting aside around 20% of your max price for required maintenance and repairs ahead of time, and getting a "fix'r'upper" means budgeting a lot more. If you have 25 grand to play with, you 100% cannot spend 25 grand on a boat that requires another 15 grand to get seaworthy and expect a happy ending. Anything other than that is ignorant fairy tale b.s. from someone who doesn't know what they are talking about.
This is probably the best floor plan I’ve ever seen

Seriously beautiful boat for serious sailing. You get what you pay for!
I was thinking "Hallberg Rassy" the whole time - and indeed, it's a German Frers design! Very nice!
Gorgeous boat. The layout is fantastic... well executed too.
😜 looks like the inside of a trailer
Outstanding! My definition of “ perfect boat” matches yours. Well done on you presentation. Keep up the good work.
Pullman with the head in the V is my favorite layout also. Not many of them out there though. Islander Freeport is one I know of.
No doubt a fine vessel. Strong and practical with millwork that modern boat buyers dream about. Thanks for the tour!
Brings back some memories, helped deliver one from Seattle to San Diego. Beautiful boat.
YES! A top notch design/layout!
Man oh man Jordan! You hit the nail on the head with this boat being beautiful!!! I love it! And for only $360K!!! Wow!
