Enjoyed the vlog. The baby born to Melanie in the "I don't know nothing about birthin' babies" scene, Beau Wilkes, played by Patrick Curtis, was once married to Raquel Welch.
I have my grandmother's scrapbook. She grew up in Atlanta and got all the original newspaper articles, and other memorabilia and put it all together in a Gone With The Wind Scrapbook. My great grandmother was a seamstress for Rich's. When my Grandmother's brother passed at 10, Margaret Mitchell sent her a telegram with her condolences.
Scarlett's nightgown from gone with wind. Is in a small museum in topsham town, Devon England not far from where I live, along side some of her personal clothing. All donated from her daughter. I was amazed at all the beautiful hand stitching on her nightgown, and how amazingly tiny it is, as it looked so large on Scarlett in the movie. Beautiful very small town, lots of history. And ties with her first husband's family.
I think you mean Vivien Leigh. She was British so I am not surprised.
Thank you for this insight. I admire how Suzanne Farrington lived a life of dignity and achieved a happy personal life despite the challenges of her childhood.
I loved Olivia de Havilland. She died around a year ago. I believe she was 104! What a blessed life. She had to be one of the last, if not the last cast member of 'GWTW.' Loved your visit to the museum :)
Amazing actress, Olivia. What a film, their will never be another in history like it. The golden years have gone?? The only actor, I have ever respected since is Mel Gibson, never golden era! But a legend in the film industry, in my opinion.
Yes, Olivia was the last of any cast or crew member involved with the production. Also the last major star from Hollywood's Golden Era. She died only days after her 104th birthday, outliving just about every person she worked with. I'm sure that was an odd feeling.
Love this GWTW. I met 3 who were in the movie. Cammie King, that soldier Junior Coghlan and Butterfly McQueen. Thanx.
How cool!
Such a beautiful movie! I really wish beautiful things like this were not threatened for removal. This is our history and it's not right to erase it. We can all live in this world together and enjoy all things historical no matter what side its on.
I have a Gone With The Wind booklet that was my grandmother's that was sold in theaters for 25 cents.
Omg a treasure!
How precious owning your grandmother's past. Hold it dear to your past and future of your family.
Watch the Carol Burnett spoof on GWTW. It's hilarious.
From my perspective, Gone With the Wind is the best picture ever made. I feel that it accurately depicted life in Georgia in the 1800's, as my mother's family was from there. As a child, I was told many stories from that time in the old south. Scarlett loved Mammy, just as my family their cook.
Mammy was the sharpest person in the movie. She had Scarlett’s number. Love Hattie McDaniel.
@@nativevirginian8344Mammy knew Scarlett in a way Scarlett's own mother didn't know. Rhett said Mammy was one of the few people whose respect he would like to have. When I encounter a person with an unwarranted high opinion of himself or herself, I think of Mammy calling Rhett and Scarlett just "mules in horse's harness."
The gift shop should have a sign. "Give a Damn. Buy something!"😆
I totally agree, but some of our young generation, have no idea of this great movie age! Not their fault! It's an era, they couldn't understand unless they went to past movie history? One thing I would say is Mel Gibson, not golden age of Hollywood.. but a legend. Jordan can u do a vlog on Mel?
Wow, Jordan - what a great blog!! I really enjoyed this!! I was a visual researcher then a corporate researcher at The Franklin Mint. We also had The Franklin Mint's Museum and I would help the curator out with the different exhibits at the museum. One year we had an exhibit on "Gone With The Wind" and I got to meet the set designer on the movie "Gone With The Wind." I got him to sign this big book I had on the production of the movie"Gone With The Wind." That researcher job was my favorite job! I was always learning something new!! 😊
My mom and dad saw Gone With The Wind when it came out in 1939.
I grew up in a replica of Tara, my grandfather was a huge fan of Gone With The Wind,
What a dream,what a history. How amazing.
The best part for me was it was supposed to be like Tara but It looks a whole lot more like Graceland. So being an Elvis fan i felt like a king
😮❤
The golden era of Hollywood - magical!!!!!.
Nothing could compare, beautiful, elegant, respectful, their movies were their fans, who appreciated their craft. They were actors! Not or ever trying to be influencetial, stepping out of their craft, boy oh boy what a craft and legacy 80years +++ the only actor that could come close to the golden era, is Mel Gibson! He is not golden era,but a true legend of films..
My older sister is a big GWTW fan, I remember when they showed it on t.v. for the first time back in the mid 1970s. i am a fan of the author Margaret Mitchell, she lead an interesting life.
I really loved all the actors in Gone With the Wind
Hattie McDaniels what a great actress
And love Butterfly McQueen
Oliver DeHavilland
Thanks Jordan great video
Love and hugs to sweet little Jah 😃👍💕
I love Gone With the Wind!!! What a great museum. Great video Jordan!!!
The old documentary on the making of Gone With The Wind was almost as dramatic as the movie itself.
Yes! The audition reel is something I have watched over and over!
very excited to see this, and the spot where Lynyrd Skynyrd did their album shot really put the icing on the cake , thanks again, see you tomorrow
Great vlog Jordan! Gone With The Wind is one of my favorite movies. I’d love to tour that place. All of that history is so interesting, what a special place. Thanks for sharing 🙂
I am a dollhouse person so that is definitely my favourite thing there! :)
The dresses are in the Ransom Center at the University of Texas where they were restored. Absolutely love your channel ❤
Restored under the archival directorship of Raymond Daum who also curated the personal collections of Greta Garbo and Gloria Swanson.
I absolutely love this vlog. Gone with the wind is my all time favorite movie. My formal dining room is decorated in gwtw memorabilia!!!!! I definitely have to go see this museum!!!! Thank you Jordan for making my day 💜
What a cool museum Jordan. GWTW is a great movie. I have not seen it in years. Maybe I will go re-watch it. Thanks for sharing the museum.
No matter what happens wih the movie. I loved it! Comments of a black woman...represents history.
Thanks, Jordan.
I was named after "Tara" from gone with the wind. ☺️
Hey Jordan!!! They also filmed "smokey and the bandit" in Jonesboro
Tara is a great name...a friend of mine and my godparents daughter both named same
I also named my daughter Tara after Gone With The Wind.
Get off of me, you dirty yank love that line
When Tara is mentioned, I always think Vivienne Leigh, what a loss of the era of the great Vivienne Leigh, I guess people will say I'm old fashioned at 62years old. I understand , my ma who was born 1935, educated me on this era, this was Hollywood to me, absolutely the golden era, they knew their place's! Respected their jobs, appreciated their positions, how times have changed towards fans, it's like who cares about opinions on our movie's? We get paid millions of dollars no matter what???well guess what, your fans are your career? Times are changing!!
Gone with the wind....no other movie will compare to it !
Yes, I absolutely love it too...but Dr Zhivago is also one of the finest as well
My favorite movie of all time! Thanks Jordan , God bless
Thank you again for showing me things I would never get to see if not for your amazing talent. Again thank you for being you, no pretence, just you,
Jordan, I totally agree with your assessment of this movie. It was one of the greatest cinematic events of the 20th century. Even now it is hard to imagine it was made 82 years ago. The 'burning of Atlanta' scenes - when Selznick filmed the actors in front of a black screen, added the footage from the back lot fire, then created the buildings with painted matte plates was not only inspirational - but still looks superior to a lot of the computer graphics we see today. Many thanks for visiting this Museum Jordan.
The buildings were real....done with old sets from the Studio backlot.
I have watched this movie dozens of times (I’m old 😊). It always seems modern & fresh. It has an energy to it. Just a wonderfully made movie.
14th December - Just to let you know Jordan's latest vlog is the 'Gone with the Wind Museum'.
"Gone with the Wind" is one of my favorite films! I remember seeing your vlogs with Peter some time ago. Love this tour through the museum and that miniature recreation of Tara was awesome. Thanks so much for sharing this, Jordan!
I love this movie. Has always been one of my favorites.
A beautiful museum. The little Tara house is awesome.
The beer warehouse where they picked the Coors in Smokey was just a little bit further down the sidewalk from the Skynyrd album shot. Awesome vlog Jordan!
It's my birthday this is like a birthday gift.
Happy Birthday, Jackson.
Happy Birthday!🥳
Happy Birthday to you, Jordan! 🥳
I’m going to watch your vlog with Peter when I’m done watching this one. Jordan great story love how much knowledge you have. Beautiful house with amazing furniture. Gone with the Wind one of my favorite movies. Thank you Jordan ♥️
Jordan this was fantastic! I love miniatures, thanks so much for showing all the detail! I'm wondering if the miniature Hattie had the red petticoat on? It made me smile to see the Hattie doll with it on. Just a fantastic video for us! Thanks so much!
Hi Jordan great job on the greatest production of a movie ever with its fanfare and all ! Hattie was a pioneer and a true pro !! And Rhett the greatest movie character ever trailed slightly by Rick Blaine !!
JORDAN THANK YOU! For this Vlog! I was there two years ago and they have updated the museum. I was SO crestfallen when I heard Tara was sold but to whom? JONESBORO! What a perfect place! I'm calling tomorrow to see if they are going to start a fundraiser to erect Tara once more. I feel obligated because I was born and raised in and near Atlanta. HOME! ❤️
Jordan that was breathtaking!! You did a fantastic job showing that place!! Thank you for going there and sharing it 😊
Thank you!
Hattie McDaniel was a classy lady, and the consummate professional. RIP MISS MCDANIEL.
Fiddle dee dee. Love it
Absolutely enjoyed Butterfly McQueen. Her beautiful smile just lit up her sweet face and probably every room in which she flashed it. I'd like to believe she and I could've been good friends. We both like to save for example, we're not cheap --- just thrifty, but I prefer banks. Sadly in standing up rightly for her high principles she enjoyed a short career. Today I have to believe she would be a mega-star. RIP Butterfly you sweet little doll.
Of course GWTW is my fav movie. Amazing cast..Scarlett is mi idol. A beautiful museum!!!! I can hear at the background music and dialogues from the movie. Just love it!!!!!
Thanks for making my day ! GWTW is my favorite movie's of all time ! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💙🦁!
Wow apsoultley amazing, thank u so much !!! I really enjoyed this episode 😍 I want to tour this on my history 🚗roadtrip
I appreciate your channel so much, and how you love and share the history of old movies. I also appreciated how you handled the poster at 9:36. It was an interesting artifact to see. You didn't make too many comments on it, not taking a stance on it or giving personal opinion. Classy and just letting your audience experience and interpret things for themselves. It's what makes your channel so great.
Jordan - Thank you so much for this video. My very favorite movie of all time. I loved the museum. I enjoyed your facade video and Margaret Mitchell's home video. Are there any more GWTW museums or sites in or around Atlanta? It would be great to save up and make a trip of all these sites. That would be incredible. Have a great day, my friend. Blessings-Judith 🎵🎭
love Gone With The Wind movie what an awesome museum showcasing memorabilia and celebs GWTW
Jordan this vlog was so well done you took your time read signage to us let us linger on all there was to see, I live in so. ca. I’ll never get back to visit GA to see it for myself so I thank you so much for this wonderful GWTW vlog! Stay well and happy 😊 GREAT JOB!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Looks like about where you were standing in the end - a restaurant called The River Bottom was there.
ANOTHER WONDERFUL STREAM THANK YOU Soooo Much.
I love "Gone With the Wind" so this museum is Awesome!!! I'm so glad that you and Jah are back on the road. :)
Boy, this brings back some memories! I have The Time Magazine Dec 25 1939.Collector plates. Olivia de Havilland's autograph. Good job Jordan!
Great job! I never like the sad animal moments in any movie, but this is one of my favorite movies though!
So glad that museum is around. Born and raised a Southern girl. My grandparents lived in an antebellum house. Union soldiers stayed in that house during the Civil War and the Bonnie Blue song was written there also. Had ancestors who fought in the Civil war. Hurricane Camille in 1969 didn’t damage the house except for a couple of shingles. Hurricane Katrina totally destroyed it. The only way anyone would know the historical significance of the house is that an Historical Society plaque is there. It replaced the one that was originally there. A duplicate house has never been built on that property. It was a very special house. Thankfully I have a sketch picture of it hanging on my wall. Wish all of y’all could have seen it. It’s way I love antebellum homes and antiques so much growing up around it. Watch Gone With the Wind every chance I get. Got so many memories with my grandparents and my family there. God bless Jordan, Jah and all the Lionhearts
I remember when they would air this once yearly on television...I'd never miss a year watching it. It was such a beautifully done masterpiece...from the costumes, landscapes, actors, homes, & horses & buggies.
Same... my mom and I would watch it.. as I've grown it truly is a sad love story..and shows you so much and what should matter to you in life..you can have it all and still end up with nothing..
@@caseyheckelmiller4495 yes, exactly! I remember when I was young I wished the movie would end another way...just once! I wished Bonnie wouldn't die & that Scarlett wouldn't wait until "tomorrow", she would seize the day TODAY & run after Rhett and he'd forgive her.
Part of her issue was she always procrastinated lol! The other was she didn't recognize true love when she truly had it. I wouldn't want an "Ashley" in my life. He'd need a mother more than a wife lol.
Really enjoyed this one Jordan!! Thanks a bunch
I love gone with the wind favorite movie and book! Thank you so much you do such a wonderful job on your vlogs.
This was an excellent blog. Keep up the good work. ❤️
This is great! Thank you!!! By the way I’m a huge movie buff for GWTW! The green bbq dress was found in a studio floor in water! Can you believe that!!
Frankly my dear Jordan, this was such an awesome vlog happy happy happy
Thank you so much ❤️🌻🇦🇺🦘😘
I love the movie gone with the wind i now own it thanks for the vlog awesome
I still love Gone With The Wind despite all the hate it's been getting specially lately. It was a movie of its time and a great drama epic, yet people today want to view it with modern day PC social ideals. You can't force the past to change, just realize that people were very different. It honestly could have been awful with the portrail of slaves yet Disney has portrayed, black people, not slaves, way way worse.
Agreed. It should be viewed as a movie.. not a historical document to be argued true or false. The movie has a great story, setting. And message... one thing I always gathered from it was the necessity to adapt to life as it changes, and when to accept its time to walk away from someone..
@@DazewithJordantheLion I like the way you put that!
I don't know if this is possible for you, but now that you are in the east coast, can you vlog the Hunger Games filming location? I think it's in the Carolinas. Love your channel!
Everytime I see GWTW I discover something new. Today , I learned about The Lynyrd Skynyrd album cover & the then somewhat influential Socialist Workers Party urging people not to see the film. The party's leader Eugene Debs was a perennial Presidential candidate.
I wanted to tell you that I was as sick as a dog this week with an upper respertory chest infection - after a private tour of Greenville South Carolina Zoo last Friday but I started the job of my life this week also. Your blogs cheered me up no end especially the house ones. Many thanks for all your hard work.
Hope your feeling better, Madeleine!❤
highly entertaining! How wonderful that you share your travels with us!
I really enjoyed this vlog. I'm sad folks are upset with it.
Absolutely enjoyed this vlog. GWTW is my favourite film, you did such a great job showing everything as you always do. More please !
I grew up in Clayton County, close to where you filmed this is a replica of the Tara house. Love this movie.
I don’t want to go to this museum I NEED to go ! 💕🥰💕 But since I live in Australia I can’t ever see it happening so a huge THANKYOU Jordan for this video it was like I was there ! 💕😘💕
Set goals! I never thought I'd get to Australia, but I did 2 years ago!
Wonderful vlog Jordan. Nice Museum.
💋Awesome vlog. Classic novel and movie. Continued Blessings and Support. ~Love&Light♥️Carli
Hi Jordan, oh, sheer magic seeing all those 'behind the scenes' photos of 'Gone With The Wind'. I'm so pleased they have a couple of the original prop ornaments from the film and 'Scarlet's' hat aswell. It really makes my day knowing more old pieces of Hollywood film history from the studios have been saved for us to enjoy. Great vlog Jordan.
As usual excellent video, travel on!
This was fantastic! Loved it. Thanks Jordan
Outstanding video, Jordan! It was wonderful to watch. Thank you!!
Fantstic vlog Jordanaire! You know I was recently reading up on Clark Gable and what an amazing person he was. He actually was responsible for a lot of desegragation of Holly Wood. On the Set of GWTW there were White Only /Colored Only bathrooms and Clark Gable was furious and threatened that if they did not take those signs down he would not play Rhett. He also did not hide his black and native heritage either. The sad part is that Hattie McDaniel was initially banned from the Oscars because she was Black but they made an exception for her but she was not allowed to sit with her co-stars at the GWTW table, she had to sit at a segregated table. I am glad Jordan that you did not hide the other parts like McQueen's speaking out about her roles and so on. I think that the most important thing we can learn from GWTW is that really overall depicts a story with the back drop of the civil war and all that went with it. On the eve of the civil war there were 4 millions slaves. Most people do not realized what a huge problem it was. Thankfully we have these films as a way to teach and educate.
Clark's childhood best friend was African American and one day they went to play a neighboring school in baseball, and the other team didn't want Clark's friend to play with the white children. So Clark said if his friend didn't play, nobody would play..
@@DazewithJordantheLion Wow that is awesome! He was a super cool person!
You did a wonderful job with this vlog Jordan. Thank You! I see a trip to Jonesboro in my future. I love GWTW.
Absolutely superb tour!! Thanks, Jordan!
Absolutely Love GWTW
Thank you for sharing. I have my Grandmother's original copy of the book. She would read it once a year so I have done the same. The pages are so fragile I'm going to have to stop reading out of hers and buy another one.
Thanks again Jordan !!
What a special vlog Jordan . Thank you ♥️
Wow unbelievable they were trying to boycott this movie even then. You have mentioned you are originally from Ohio have you ever seen the Clark Gable house and Museum in Cadiz? I went there once but unfortunately it was not opened that day. 😢
Yes, I vlogged the house and museum in cadiz
Cool I will definitely look that up.
I would have loved to have seen the original corsets.
Thank you for this. The book and film are simply incredible. It is so nice to see others' appreciate it too :)
Thank you Jordan for all your research and hard work, I very much appreciate you fantastic efforts and very much enjoy your videos, you give great detail and good video work too. Great Vlog once again 👍
Ģreat vlog, I remember my mother told me that when she lived in Roseburg, Oregon that she was driving along the Rogue River and she saw Clark Gable driving his convertible, she was so excited, of course she didn't talk to Him but just to see Him was enough!
An extremely well put thought out museum. Wonderful.
I really enjoyed seeing this museum. It’s my absolute favorite movie!!
The Lowe’s grand actually burned down in 1978. My mother and grandmother were evacuated from the continental insurance building next door and both buildings had to be torn down. The seats were obviously reupholstered due to the fire. It was a very sad historic day in Atlanta.
One of my all time favorite movies EVER, I wish I still had my VHS copy of it, but it got lost in a move!!! The museum is AWESOME!! Thank you for showing it. Funny aside, I actually had a Mammy in Grosse Pointe, Michigan in 1957, my Father's Aunt Francis was a classical music composer n pianist n had an old school plantation type mansion in the city of Grosse Pointe, n my Mom n Dad stayed there with me when I was first born n my Mom told me about Mammy, the lady that looked after me with her, n I have a memory flash that I:Ve had over n over throughout my 66 yrs of being held by the Mammy on the grand staircase with my Mom standing there on the steps with us. I know it sounds odd, but it certainly is true!!! There are probably not a lot of people still alive today that had an actual caregiver named Mammy in a Tara type mansion, I would venture a guess!!! I grew up watching old movies with my Mom n ALWAYS loved Gone With The Wind, whose title has always been appropriate to me!!! I also had the sequel "Scarlett" n loved it as well!!! Thanks also for the Too Cool match up of the Lynyrd Skynyrd album cover, which is a classic n VERY collectable. It was cool you matched it up so well!! Wish I Still had that album as well!!! Great video. Attaboy, Jordan the Lion!!!
My mother wanted to name me Tara
I'm surprised the snowflakes aren't melting over this Museum.
Clark Gable is my all-time favorite classic old Hollywood Actor. Gone With The Wind is only but one reason why. Films and Actors from this Era are just in a Stand Alone Class all by themselves.
As a friend of Artimus, even tho he didn't join LS till 1974, I can't wait to tell him I saw where LS's first LP cover was snapped...I had just dusted my Led Zeppelin and LS lps before taking a break and watching videos...Thanks Jordan...
Boy Hetty McDaniel was something else! She predates Rosa Parks for the segregation of black people! I loved her in the movie and I love what she did with her life! She did some serious ground breaking in her time!
An absolutely amazing museum!! I still have my Gone With the Wind poster. I had it hanging in my bedroom at home along with John Wayne from The Stagecoach and Elvis from Love Me Tender. I wonder if kids hang posters these days…Classic Movie that is still so clear and vivid today. Thank you for sharing!! Smokey and the Bandit is an all time favorite too. My kids ( now adults ) know every line from it. We use those lines quite a bit 😂😂
Did you know that Stan Laurel's daughter, Lois, was married to Rand Brooks, who portrayed Charles Hamilton in GWTW?
I love the Book, but I can't watch the Movie. I don't know why, but I don't like the Movie. 🤷♀️
