Yeah the screens on a lot of the older models are really bad. Still good for composing the shot, but beyond that, forget about it. Thanks for watching 🖖
100 squid no probs. I just cant justify spending a shed load on a camera. Overall its not the camera but its the operator I keep been told. Makes sense.
Thought provoling stuff. Must get out my old silver 400D. I loved the B&W images it gave me. Why I hadn't tried out my my primes I bought for the 250D the 85mm f1.8, 24mm & 40mm f2.8 pancakes, & 50mm f1.4 I'll never know? Many thanks for slowing my GAS.
The 450d, the nifty 50 and a Tamron zoom lens were the kit that I used back in 2007 in a trip to Japan. I still enjoy those pictures. Gear matters but way less than one might think.
I picked up an old NEX3, a md-nex adapter, and a vivitar 70-300 for well under $100, so even less than £100. Great for learning how to mf, compose, and control the trinity. Bonus, you learn about zoom stops, unless you manage to find a rare continuous aperture zoom.
I use an old sony A77 must be about 11 years old or so... Once I learned it's quirks I can get some pretty good images. Because it's an old secondhand camera that I picked up pretty cheap I don't baby it, I take it out in torrential rain even though many lenses I use are not weather sealed. I highly doubt I would have took a top end camera out in the conditions I take this old camera out in which would mean I would have missed out on some of my favourite images. Would I like a top end camera? Sure, but I can't justify the price as a relatively new hobby purely for fun.
The last camera I had that I trusted in all weather was the Nikon D800. When I switched to Sony both the A7 and A7s didn’t like the rain even though they had weather sealing. I once had to wait over a day for my screen to come back to life after a shoot in what I would consider light rain. Having confidence in your gear no matter what age it is makes for a far more enjoyable experience. Thanks for watching 🖖
Awesome work digi cam Dave..could wait..keep safe mate..I actually picked up a used digicam myself ..eBay have so many used cameras..glad to see a RUclipsr not talking about new but used gear ..keep up the good work..ps love the free preset u have I use regularly for my edits..cheers mate
great shots, good talk, all good, you covered the G10 elsewhere, for beginners I'm recommending a smaller sized p&s with decent AF like that to get some help alongside some manual control options when needed having somewhere between 28-80mm EFL at hand before getting into primes has also been a good learning tool for me the 45mm is fantastic, worth the mft admission on its own, and the wider ones are quite nice, I've been happy with the 25mm 1.8 for candid shots at events longer ones are pricy, I've tried adapting a Konica 135mm (MF) instead, so-so so far
I have some manual lens they are very good. You might have to stop down on them a little to make them sharp like f2 or f2.8 but the soft wide open has its own nice look.
Well me too I got a Nikon D70S and I use it for doing Street Photography Why not using cheap DSLR It’s all about understanding the F stop, the shutter speed, the ISO and how to choose the right metering mode That what it takes to capture a nice shot on the street. Of course a photographer must understand how to control the light, the composition and the framing But the problem is that everyone these days think that they need an expensive camera to do the job right No No No An expensive camera will make it harder for a beginner street Photographer I hope to see more Street Photographers in the near future using old cheap cameras And I forget to say this The eye of the photographer is more way important than the gear … Thank you for this video mate Keep the good work up…
Couldn’t agree more, I need to get myself another Nikon d70. Keeping it simple when just starting out and concentrating on improving your skills makes way more sense than worrying about the gear. Thanks for watching, mate🖖
Nice one 👍...I agree , you can get some really sound bargains if you just keep looking - in the past few weeks I have snagged a near mint Nikon D90 ( without a charger) for £65 and a Panasonic Lumix GF6 + 12-32mm for £120 !!..I am loving the little Lumix kit - it's amazing !
Thought your 'Yob kicking pigeon' shot was 'Bressonesque', but i 'spose yer told that sort of thing all the time.🙃 Anyway... always interesting how a good image seems to make any thoughts of the camera used disappear. Have a good one.
Genuinely the first time I’ve heard that, but I’ll take the compliment. I actually had to go back and see which image you were referring to and then found it quite amusing that the Yob in question was wearing crocs😂 Thanks for watching, mate🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial You're a step ahead of me - I didn't notice the Crocs; and you're lucky I didn't, coz I'd have had PETA picketing your squat faster than you could have p'shopped a pair of fluffy-bunny slippers in in their place. A close call, Mr Flower, but remember: I Am Watching...
And PS: NEVER FORGET!! that as an Englishman, anything that compares you to the famously foppish French is not to be taken as a compliment. Pistols at dawn, my friend!
Proving your point with some great images Dave. Nice one! There are some great bargains to be had at the moment. I wish Adobe would bring out a non-subscription version of Lightroom. It's a fantastic bit of software but with my limited photography budget getting tied in to a subscription is out of the question.
Yeah the shift to subscriptions for a lot of products is really annoying especially as processing is a big part of the process if you shoot raw. Thanks for watching 🖖
I still have my first 14-42 Panasonic kit lens that works great and performs surprisingly well for such a cheap lens. There’s also the power zoom versions and the weather sealed Olympus 12-50. One of the things I’ve found in m4/3 is that even the standard cheaper lenses perform well so I think you’ll be fine with pretty much any of them🖖
I picked up this exact camera body about two weeks from a recommendation, similar to what you're relaying. Thanks for confirming! My only struggle (and probably me since it's my first attempt at a non-point-and-shoot) is that the preview screen (WYSIWYG) doesn't match the picture. For example, on an interior room in shutter priority mode (nothing on the hot shoe): F8, ISO 200, Shutter at 1/10, one stop up on exposure, the preview looks good. The actual image is very dark, though. Changing the shutter to 1/6, the preview does not change, but the image then looks excellent. Does this thing support WYSIWYG?
Rear screens on pretty much every camera I’ve ever used are notorious liars. An easy way to nail the exposure is to either use the light gauge (-3-0-+3) or the histogram and make sure you don’t clip at either end (unless you’re intending to for a specific look). Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🖖
Those are wonderful shots sir 👏 🙌 🙏...Hello sir I'm from India and professionally a Pharmacologist but I'm in love with Streetphotography n for that I have bought a FUJIFILM XT30 II with XC15-45mm F3.5-5.6 kit lens yesterday.... should I go on with it initially ? Or should I go for a Prime Lens ? Which one would be ideal for Streetphotography and daily shooting purpose ? I'm having very little knowledge about Lenses so I badly need your guidance 🙏
In this situation I’d simply say shoot with the kit lens and look at the focal length you use most frequently. This way you can determine, based on how you like to shoot, which prime would be best for you. I hope this helps, thanks for watching 🖖
