- The Chinese-American Composite Wing (Provisional) was a combined United States Army Air Forces and a Republic of China Air Force organization. It was administratively assigned to Fourteenth Air Force in China throughout its service, from 1 October 1943 to 1 August 1945. The operational units of the Chinese-American Composite Wing CACW were jointly commanded by both American and Chinese air force officers, and the unit's aircraft were manned by American and Chinese pilots and air crewmen. During its year and a half of operations, the Chinese and American airmen of the CACW could claim the destruction of 190 Japanese aircraft in air-to-air combat, and 301 more on the ground.
The most successful fighter pilot of the CACW was Lt. Colonel William N. Reed, who had first fought in China as a member of the AVG. As a "Flying Tiger," Reed had destroyed 3 Japanese aircraft in aerial combat and 8 more on the ground. Then returning to China to command the CACW's 7th Fighter Squadron and eventually its 3d Fighter Group, he would destroy an additional 6 Japanese aircraft in aerial combat. Reed was killed while parachuting from a disabled P-40 on December 19, 1944.
This particular diecast model is another one from DeAgostini and is in 1:72nd scale of the Curtiss P-40N Warhawk from CACW 3rd FG, 7th FS, 14th AF, "Boss's Hoss", as flown by William Reed, Liangshan, China, 1944.

Use of any images or video in any of my reviews is used out of pure respect in regard to units and/or actual people. I wish to acknowledge all those that have served past and present with their respective nations armed forces with some making the ultimate sacrifice. Political ideals aside, it takes great courage and selflessness to answer your countries call.
Cheers

This is a good starter p 40!😊
@@jcwoodman5285 Yes definately great for those getting into the hobby with a tighter budget. I do try to show a range from budget to higher end models. Not everyone can afford a Hobby Master P-40 😀 and some of the DeAgostino models are not too bad. Thanks for watching 😀👍
beautiful plane is very symbolic
Yes the US pilots certainly helped the Chinese a lot. And that sharks mouth always looks nice!!
Good looking model, love me some P-40! Very unique mouth on that one. That's the brand of the Stallion I just got, they do good work for budget models👌
@@jrex9197 Yes for sure. The DeAgostino range are not bad models for quality and value. While not always the greatest detail they often offer aircraft that no other manufacturer has made aswell. Thank again for dropping past 😀👍
"You put that fuel tank there". My psychic abilities cut in there- I knew what was coming next. Precognition Eh!

@@ericdenoorman1188 I actually did have a little look at the shop online, yes the ones at those prices I already have. But they are great prices for people who may just want to check them out!!!
Gorgeous colour scheme! A sleek fighter for a US model. Most of the chunky ones were navy birds I suppose.
@@shinra2755 yeah when you think about it the Navy really like their radial engines, haha. I had a comic as a kid with these on the front cover and loved the sharks mouth on planes from then on 🤣
@@heavymetaldiecast Yes very iconic!
Not sure about that color
Yes I feel its a little dark maybe!!
