    Test results are hard to understand on Sibo breath tests. Thanks for breaking it down and it was fascinating to see the variety of results from patients.

      @@ConfluenceNutrition Thank you for asking Amanda. I am on day 9 on both antibiotics and my bloating did not decrease a bit still...which is very discouraging! 😔 I have both motility activator and prucalopride to try when finishing the 14 days. Is sibo gone for you? I am on an extremely strict diet as I could not tolerate a ton of foods. I went from a very healthy person (runner and eating very healthy) to this. Thanks again!

      @@emam2752 Hi Ema, I'm sorry to hear that it hasn't made a difference. What did your SIBO test look like?

      @@ConfluenceNutrition That is awesome that you are sibo free!! I am very glad for you!! When did you feel your bloating was decreasing, was it only on your third round of antibiotics? Is it possible my increased bloating could be one of the die-off symptoms? My methane was 25 and hydrogen 4. The only significant improvement I've seen so far is my BM- was not floating anymore.

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  Год назад

      @@emam2752 I felt better within a few days of starting, and progressively felt better during treatmnet. After, the bloating slowly crept back in and I realized how much it had improved during treatment. If you're feeling worse and worse, this suggest SIBO may not be the cause of yoru symptoms. One can be SIBO positive, but not be SIBO reactive, if that makes sense. In this case, I often suspect yeasts/candida as the culprit. There could also be other gut infections. I just had a client pop for Giardia on a stool test. It's important to think about your results critically, and alwasy ask good questions about your proposed actions.

    Hallo Amanda, thanks a lot for your video. It’s very helpful. I have a question about my sibo test results. My Hydrogen leven where until 60 minutes. At 60 they where 11, at 70 min 20 and at 80 minutes 31 and at 100 48. So the score went high close to the 90 minutes. Would you say it’s or it’s not sibo ? Greetings Marina

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  Год назад

      Hi Marina, the general criteria, as I said in the video, is if you are at 20 ppm hydrogen before 90 minutes, or at or above 10 ppm methane at any point during the test, the test is considered positive. Thanks for watching!

    I feel miffed because the clinic I got my SIBO test done was hydrogen only. My hydrogen was around 12ppm at the 60 minute mark, and over 20ppm at the 120 min mark. So probably fairly normal. I bet anything I’d be positive for high methane because I have textbook SIBO symptoms. I’ll probably do an at home test next time

      The generally accepted criteria for a positive test is 20 ppm or greater before NINETY minutes, so your GI may not be up to date with the criteria.

    Hi. I have a gi doc and i am sent to a breath test clinic. It's 3.5 hours. Anyways...the interpreter put I was positive for sibo. So I was put on Rifaximin for months and months and I wasn't getting better. So I said something has to give. So I got a Naturpath involved and informed me that I have IMO as well! So I brought this to my gi doc attention and they agreed and added in neomyacin. So of that weren't stressful enough. Fasforward about 5 months (NEW doc now) and I go and get a test and same thing happens. The test is interpreted wrong. I have both but put as sibo. I talked to someone at the office tonight ànd she was helpful and said to call tomorrow and talk to someone. I'm stressed bc the remark didn't include imo. Imo is the one I have the most proɓ. But IA there any way I can upload my result here so u can s3e what I am seeing and if it is imo? I'm desperate for some confidence. Please help! :(

    So my test 2hr mark I showed methane about 4 I didn’t think I had Sibo and my doctor didn’t say I had Sibo, I was listening to a Q&A from Allison Siebecker , she said this would be considered Emo, and need to treat for methane

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  Год назад

      Hi Bill, the cutoff for methane, at any point in the test is 10 ppm. If your methane level is 4, this doesn't meet the criteria for treatment.

      Hi Amanda I looked for that video but I think Sibo sos took it down , but I looked at at my Sibo test again and my methane was 10 ppm , but I was looking at information about methane on my test and said , 10 is guideline, but also said in clinical trials showed levels as low as 3ppm may need medical intervention, I guess if you’re showing symptoms, my test was Genova

      @@billmartinez2253 Yes, there's always a little bit of interpretation savvy needed, which is why it's wise to have a knowledgeable practitioner read your test. However, different practitioners have different ways of interpreting what needs to be treated. If you have methane below the threshhold, and struggle with constipation, it could be a reasonable decision to treat to see what happens.

    Pimentel's book gives different criteria than you say here. According to the book, you are positive for hydrogen if the DELTA from t=0 is greater than 20 ppm. For example, if your hydrogen at t=0 is at 30 ppm, and then it only ever goes up to 40 ppm by t=90, then that's a negative for hydrogen (because the delta is less than +20 ppm). But in your video you say that as long as the hydrogen measurement above 20 ppm, it's positive for hydrogen, so I wonder if you're wrong about that.
    But as for methane, both you and Pimentel say that it's positive for methane if the measurement is ever above 10 ppm.

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  5 дней назад

      Yes, this is a confusing element of reading the test. The labs all show a cut off at 20 ppm for hydrogen, but yes, a change of 20 ppm is also regarded as positive. I'm not really sure what is the definitive right answer.

      Thank you!!!
      I've been taking atrantil and metronidazole before the sibo test, yet the hydrogen is still high.
      Would that number for hydrogen be considered severely high?
      I'm taking it there is no known cause why Sibo occurs in the first place?

      @ConfluenceNutrition  Год назад

      @@Diogenes-II metronidazole alone is not considered a standard treatment for SIBO, though it is sometimes prescribed WITH rifaximin. See this video for more on the standard protocols: ruclips.net/video/bEXdn86yz-w/видео.html
      And there's not one single cause for SIBO, but some common causes I've seen among my clients are a previous case of food poisoning, endometriosis, adhesions and scar tissue from previous accidents or surgeries and opioid medication use. Thanks for watching!
