    I own this exact mower that I bought new in 2013. The only issue was I had a stalling problem the 2nd year of ownership. I replaced the fuel filter and relocated it a little higher and haven’t had an issue since. It has been a beast. It has 350 hours on it. I had the hydro fluid changed once and do a yearly oil/filter change and air filter cleaning. A very reliable mowing machine that does a beautiful job on my lawn. Better looking cut than my neighbors who hire a service that uses eXmarks

    Never been so excited to mow my lawn! What a winter man as you know! I’m currently working on my poulan getting it up to shape! Nice video man! I love zero turns.

    Love my Fastrak SD 54" Going into my 5th year with it. No major issues. The parking brake shaft on the hydros has leaked, but they make a kit for about $50 to cap them off. One was fixed under warranty. Runs good, fast as hell, and cuts very nice. I do all of my own maintenance and I feel like it will easily last 10 years. If I keep mowing like I do, I will be around 800 hrs at 10 years.

    If I'm mistaken those mowers are only rated for a 300 pound payload which includes the weight of the rider. If you're pulling a trailer with it that may be the cause of your repeated trans axle issues. Chances are that between you and the trailer you're hitting close to 300 pounds and whatever you're putting in the trailer is putting too much stress on the drivetrain.

    I used to work with this mower
    When I wanted to push the deck up while mowing I would also hold that liver for a couple of seconds or more.

    Glad to see you like the Fastrak as I just bought a used 2008 with 300 hrs on it and really like it so far. What year is the one you have ? Have you had any trouble with any leaks ?

    I have the same mower with the Honda GXV630 engine. Engine is smoking out of the oil fill cap and a little oil in the air filter area. You can smell a little burning oil as well.
    Engine only has 200hrs on it. It has been serviced by the book. I am getting some oil blow by somewhere.

    I just bought me a Hustler Fas trak 54. Out the door price 7916.00. For 2022 and 23 they have upgraded the hydro gear to zt3200. They labeled it a commercial mower. My forward speed is 10 mph.
    What hydro transmissions does your mower have. Hustler makes a 2800,3100,3200,3400. And ZT makes a 3600 and bigger. I really don't see anything rong with your mower. I'm a mechanic and those little things could be easy to fix. My seat has the same thing holding it down. And my kill switch under my seat I'm not going to mess with it. I nearly turned a mower over on my craftsman gt6000 tractor. I have ditches at my house and it s easy to turn a mower over. And if it turns over I won't it to kill the engine. But again I think you did really good on your mower. That price is really good. My mower has duel fuel tanks with gauges and a roll bar on it. The extra stuff increases the cost. And my seat is adjustable with adjustable spring tension. But you know how everything is. Pay more get more and the tires are larger on the 22 and 23 models. Rear tires 23x11x10. Front 13x6.5x6.I think that's right.

    Excellent review. I am considering purchasing the FastTrack. My Scag 18 year old Tiger Cub is on its last year. If I had a Scag Dealer near me I would get a another Scag. Good dealer as you know is one of the most important things. Do you think An X-1 is a good value? Not sure which one I will purchase? We have an outstanding Hustler dealer in my small town. Your description of deck size was point on. I am going with a 54" my friend.

      Awesome! That’s what the channel is all about! Hope to see you around! Fix upgrade you need is to put a mud flap on the back of the deck to stripe better. Totally worth it

    What I hated about mine was the way it packed the deck with grass..With just a small amount of moisture it would PACK the deck with grass..Mine was a Fast Trak SD 48" with a FX691V engine..Had it 4 years and sold it and bought a Gravely Pro-Turn 460 with the Yamaha MX825V 33hp EFI engine and I absolutely love it.Hustler builds very good mowers however the deck performance on their residential and low end commercial models needs to be improved to say the least.I'm not sure about the performance of the decks on their commercial models because I've never operated one.After 4 years of scraping that deck I was pretty much set on getting a different brand..good video btw and Hustlers are definitely TOUGH mowers!

    • @TheDurbinCompound
      @TheDurbinCompound  6 лет назад +1

      Phillip Hudnall yeah the deck does clog easily. It's definitely not their best deck but it does do work

    • @keithike1982
      @keithike1982 5 лет назад +1

      Yes, I wish the deck was built a little better, to not clump up the grass. I bet a scraped 40 pounds of grass off my deck last night.

    • @TheDurbinCompound
      @TheDurbinCompound  5 лет назад

      The first mow is always the worst! So much grass because it comes up all uneven. Makes you kind of hate to start the mowing year

      @keithike1982 5 лет назад +1

      Yeah, I still love the mower. I've had mine ( hustler Fastrax 60'' ) for 6 years. love it. Just changed my Hyro filters and a tune up. I had a JD before that. Mower was good, deck was no good.

    I used to have a Hustler mini z back in 2008 when I owned a cutting company thru college and loved the way it cut. The suspension on it however wasn't so great.... Couple questions, how is the suspension on this one for bumps? Do you have a striping kit? One of the things I'm looking for is to have the beautiful stripes that are clearly visible

      You can check out this video where I explain how I did the my homemade stripping flap. I used a mud flap cut down and attached to the back of the deck. It helps lay over the grass like I need.

    Remove it, drill the bottom of the locking side. Install a spring into the hole that is strong enough to hold it out of the transport slot. When you want it holding the deck up, push the height handle forward until it is in the slot. The weight of the deck will hold it in place.

    I like mine but was lied to about the 2 key features. 1 the floor pan is fixed not removable, and 2 the seat does not tilt up. Its better than my old lawn tractor but I paid enough for it to get what it was supposed to have.

    I have the same mower and have a question. How do you remove the air inlet cover to clean inside?

    • @TheDurbinCompound
      @TheDurbinCompound  4 года назад +1

      There are two clamps on the back of the air filter housing. The big barrel shaped piece with the chimney looking top on it. There will be two filters inside. Change the big filter every year, change the smaller filter every 5 years.

  • @ИринаИльдарова

    Yes,🌼 allabout.wiki/Hustler the bag fills up pretty quickly when there are lots of leaves and I guess that is expected. It is quick to take the leaf catching bag off and put it back on. There is one bar with rubber ends that fits into a slot (bottom), one bar with angled ends that hangs on rubber hooks (top), and two stretchy loops that each hang on a rubber hook (one each side). You can hold the leaf catching bag with one hand full and not drop any leaves. It is NOT easy to empty it into a lawn bag without spilling. My trick: I put two lawn bags side-by-side in a large garbage bin and emptied the leaf catching bag into them. What spills falls into the garbage bin. 90% of the leaves end up in the bags this way with 0% back on the lawn.

    i cant decide? john deere z540r vs Hustler Raptor SD? can you please give me 3 pros and cons of each one...I love your review very informative :) Cheers

    • @TheDurbinCompound
      @TheDurbinCompound  6 лет назад

      It’s funny that you ask. I compared the same mower when buying. They are literally the same mower, a lot of the same features, same engine, same width cut. The main reason I went with hustler was the frame and deck build quality. I liked the hustlers tubular frame up front. I liked the reinforced deck on the hustler with the fully welded front lip. I ultimately was won over by my buddy (the salesman) who recommended the Hustler over Deere because of price point and he felt the Hustlers were holding up a lot better in the commercial market at the time. He was seeing Deere’s being exchanged every year by fleets and the Hustlers going well into 1000 to 2000 hours before being replaced by the commercial guys. Not saying that the Deere wouldn’t be a good mower at all. Just saying that was the trend in the area at that time. I’m sure they both will run great for a residential guy for many years. I’ve abused mine and had very little consequence. I expect a lot out of equipment and often push them passed their limits. The Hustler has been very good to me. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Really good review. I just bought a Raptor SD 54" today for my small 15,000 sq ft home lawn. Its tall fescue and I just didn't want to push the 21" Honda anymore.... I have a Z970R and a Z997R both 72" and I know what you mean about the scalping on hills. We use them on our 5 acre Homestead. Again great video!

    • @TheDurbinCompound

      There is a fuel tank selector lever behind the seat on the right side. You have to manually switch it to the other tank

    my 2017 one has no springs for the seat and it doesn't lift up and has only one gas tank and no springs to help lift the heavy deck and mowing reverse leaves a big mess even if its only 4 inches and weedeating and leafblowing and then trying to mow everyday with this one compared to a none heavy duty zero turn it wears my arms out my old zero turn never did that i would rather weedeat and have someone else mow because how rough the mower is the flex forks help but its still bad and I'm pretty sure most peoples fuel gage goes out soon

    • @TheDurbinCompound
      @TheDurbinCompound  5 лет назад

      Chris Davidson no I haven’t had any issues with it. The kawasaki is super smooth and the mower is built well. I tend to abuse my equipment and I equate the hydro drive issues I’ve had to towing a trailer with it.

      Chris Davidson no problem! For the record, I almost went with a Scag when I was looking at mowers. My buddy was trying to push me into one, but I wasn’t sold on the remote hydrodrives. Multiple units on the lot were leaking from the hyd lines. He was saying that they come loose from time to time like all hyd lines. I wasn’t sold on that fact. I’m glad I went with my Hustler and I spent a lot less coin!
