    The thing I like about rear discharge the most is going around trees on either side of mower deck and not having to worry nearly as much about shit hitting cars or basement windows.

    I have a canister filter on my fr equipped raptor sd. A pricey upgrade at $300 but worth it. The stock filter gets grass under it, blocking the drain holes, causing the filter to get soaked if it rains.

    Nice job on the Pros & Cons of the Hustler Fastrak Rear Discharge. All great points & Safety of a rear discharge is a key Pro & a very important Pro on the Hustler rear discharge decks. It is a huge benefit for municipalities, school districts, & mowing areas like boulevards where safety is big concern too👍 Great job! again.

    Each blade cuts it own grass, it doesn't pass cut grass from left to right. My blades last longer and all three are worn the same . Instead of right blade being worn more than the left. I use grasshopper rear discharge.

      I don't do very much mulching with it, but I would say it does average. Not great but not bad either. I do have gator blades on it which helps. Thanks for watching.

    Can the deck be swapped out to a rear discharge deck from a side? I have a SD and it’s been great but definitely struggles like you said in taller grass if I miss a mowing. I have 6 acres to mow and sometimes it all doesn’t get hit on time. That rear discharge would be awesome and especially if I didn’t have to buy a complete mower.

    • @PowerEquipmentMan

      There is no way that I know of to put a rear discharge deck on a SD.

    After you cut the grass does it help to raise the deck up a little and go over the second time. I have to do that a lot with my side discharge especially during the heavy growing season. I am looking at purchasing a used 54 inch rear discharge thank you

    I need to clean my deck every week but I have rubber mats on the rear of the deck do I need to remove them?

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  3 года назад +1

      No I would not recommend removing the rubber mats. I think the mats help the grass get chopped up and distributed more evenly. I was planning on trying to add some rubber mats to the back of the deck on my fastrak to see how it affected it.

      No, I don't believe they make a stripe kit for the rear discharge.

    At what height are you cutting the grass in the video? Does it spread the grass out better on fescue when you're mowing at ~3.5" vs something shorter?

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  3 года назад +1

      That was probably around 2". The height you are cutting at doesn't seem to make as much difference as how much grass you are cutting off.

    Ok, just took delivery on a Fastrak 48 rear discharge. I was using a Raptor 42. After first mow I have two issues. One, there is very little space between the edge of deck and outside edge of tire making it very difficult to mow next to things like fence posts and trees. Can narrower tires be used or maybe the tweels ?
    Second issue is more of a learning thing. I never made divots with the smaller 42, but made some with the 48 because of the larger tires. Would tweels help with the divots?

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  3 года назад

      I don't think tweels will solve any of your problems. Narrower tires tend to make divots worse. Just take your time turning and edging is all you can really do. Do a 3 point turn. I personally run a Fastrak 54" and never leave any divots. We never sold the Fastraks in a 48" or the Raptors in a 36" just for the issue with the deck not sticking out far enough for most people.

    • @olegig5166
      @olegig5166 3 года назад

      @@PowerEquipmentMan when faced with an issue I tend to carry things to the extreme. A 5' wide tire would make a larger divot than a 1" point. Granted divots are made by a stationary object so the tire must be kelp moving either forward or reverse; however to make a turn it must move in a curve and once more a 5' wide tire would have to slip somewhere.
