- The Metal Gear series has always been out there in terms of crazy and imaginative ideas, but there's one entry that's been vastly overlooked by many in recent years.
MGS VR Missions does away with all the pesky story elements of the series and is purely gameplay focused, with all sorts of fun stages and objectives to sharpen up you up for a future espionage mission. But there's one particular set of levels on offer that stood out to me...

5:02 Your breath becomes visible in cold areas because it's hotter than the air around you. If you just recently ate ice cream your breath is cold, so it doesn't create the steam/smoke effect when you exhale.

Is it canon to count the remakes as new entries, though? Is TH the 16th installment, or just the 13th?
@@asmodeus58XX Yeah, I think they count. If they were only re-releases, then they wouldn't count, but since they're remakes with more content added to them, then they count. Awakening is often referred to as FE13 anyway since Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem are referred to as FE11 and FE12 respectively. I've also seen people refer to Fates as FE14, so they definitely count by this point. Although, I don't really see people refer to Three Houses as FE16 as often as FE3H, but still.

Remember the mode that let you take pictures of Naomi? What blew me away was how that stage became the battlefield for fighting that squadron of Metal Gear Rays in MGS2
Blew me away the first time I played it. In VR Missions, it played this soothing, comforting music as you took pictures of a pretty woman. Then, after Raiden learns his relationship with Rose was a lie, the same place of warmth and comfort becomes a frenetic battleground while intense music plays. What a mind f*
There was such a deep meta narrative that could only be fully appreciated if you played VR Missions first
I always forget that it's more of a side game because it's just so great

When I was young and naive, I accidentally rented this thinking I was getting the actual Metal Gear Solid, and assumed you had to beat the VR missions to get to the actual game because it was just that difficult. But what kind of mission would force you to beat such an unreasonably difficult tutorial to proceed with your mission? Oh yeah... Driver.
I had never played driver before, but when i played it the first time, i did get stumped on "slalom" but THERE'S A FUCKING TUTORIAL DEMO VIDEO THAT SHOWS YOU WHAT EVERYTHING IS, HOLY FUCK IT'S NOT HARD!
Oh man I remember when my cousin and i were both fans of just Metal Gear Solid and he had played through quite a big chunk of the missions himself before I managed to get a copy so he bought it round along with his memory card and we played through the murder mystery missions. I remember when I was giving all the different theories about who the killer was from the clues on mission 10 only to burst out laughing from the ketchup because that's how I escaped prison in MGS1.

Mission ten is rather funny
I forgot how much fun these were... I was utterly convinced that you'd be able to play as Gray Fox in MGS if you completed everything, like it would give you a special save for the main game that would unlock a second scenario.
I wasn't tricked by a friend. I just thought it made sense.
I loved this game so much
it had a unique feeling
technically, in Special mode, under the NG selection category, mission 8 can be considered another mystery level, where the culprit dropped a book near the body, and you have to hide in order to catch him as he's getting it back

Impressive Snake
My cousin bought this, thinking it was the actual MGS.
Once he realized he couldn't even play it, since the game had a verification system of sorts, he just gave it to me.
I'm still not sure exactly what was supposed to be happening with that last mystery mission. So the series of events was: guard decided to lock the door, carve his initials into the desk, eat three slices of pizza, slam his face into the computer monitor and pass out from a concussion on top of a ketchup bottle? "Sounds like a regular Tuesday night for the boys down in administration"
VR missions looks like an expansion pack to me, or a level pack akin to Rayman Designer for DOS.

I wish the Batman Arkham games had investigation segments where you have to figure stuff out on your own.
Arkham’s Detective mode doesn’t really do it for me, since all you do is follow instructions before they give you the answer.

Metal Gear on the Game Boy Color had a good amount of missions from VR missions.
This is why I never got around to actually playing VR missions. Don't think I ever will now that I've watched this video lol.

There's a Windows port of MGS. I don't know if it has the VR Missions. If it does, I wonder if there's a modding scene for making more.
Team Rocket grunts ought to play these VR missions...They might get smarter and actually steal actual pokemon.

@@whoisthisgit How about the last mission on Azure Moon? Nothing prepared me to its brutality. I even had to resort to sacrificing a unit. Not a Blue Lion, mind you, nor was it a very good unit.
