Most interesting to see what can do anti-ricochet bullet with dummie. That bullet is very light, it has massive aluminium core and weights about 108 grain. But that thing is only for Russia - most of the russian buildings are made of concrete/bricks. In the building with drywall it most likely will go through several walls. And AP rounds should be over penetrating even against concrete. But there's no any information about muzzle velocity of supersonic bullets. Only for subsonic one - 950-1017 feet per second.
For close engagements it's fuckin sick tho. I've been waiting for something like this since 300 blackout got popular. One of the next steps in the heavy subsonic suppressed game imo
It looks nice, basically a bullpup .50 Beowulf/.458 SOCOM with a 12-14 inch or so barrel equipped with a QD mount for a muzzle brake or suppressor based on mission requirements. I did appreciate the warhead modifications, I am surprised you didn't go for a sabot for a longer ranged ammunition option, of course that would probably affect the point accuracy for the extra velocity and range. I assume the high velocity 100M range round is a lighter grain frangible warhead that destabilizes at long range, good for short range urban use. I am surprised that you are getting accuracy out to 300 meters with the AP round, you must be reducing the weight of the projectile quite alot to get that initial push of acceleration without using a sabot as this round doesn't look like it could take too high pressure of a powder load. What twist rate are you using to stabilize the rounds? The wide variety of projectile weights and velocities must make it difficult to manage. Around 1:20 or so seems right for the high accuracy rounds but 1:15 seems better for the heavy subsonic rounds, maybe split the difference?
Sabots don’t work without a barrel designed for them. You would need a faster twist rate to stabilize a sabot round which could possible over stress a normal bullet causing it to rip its jacket off, the only other way around this is to use monolithic copper ammo which is very expensive.
I know a discarding sabot isn't optimal outside of a smooth bore I was just wondering how they got the range they claimed with the AP round without adding too much pressure for the casing to handle. (The longer case length probably helps though.) They seem to be going for a dual role short and mid range weapon system, with a 300 blackout for example you would have different magazines with ammunition for short range (heavy grain) or medium range (lighter grain, higher powder load), if you go too light on the bullet though you can destabilize the round and lose accuracy which is why I was curious about the twist rate of the barrel. To get armor piercing against plate armor or vehicle armor at that range with such a large bullet you would need serious velocity even with a fairly long barrel and a steel core penetrator, a sabot would have been one of the ways to do it though obviously not optimally (unless you put a wee little heat warhead on it of course :P).
I was curious about how much it would affect an infantryman to carry this type of ammunition. 18.0 grams for 12.7x55mm per round (based on Wikipedia, people aren't sure what the average weight really is) 16.1 grams for 7.62x39mm per round 11.7 grams for 5.45x39mm per round 30 rounds x 7 magazines x 18.0g= 3780g -> 8.3 pounds 30 rounds x 7 magazines x 16.1g= 3423g -> 7.5 pounds 30 rounds x 7 magazines x 11.7g= 2457g -> 5.4 pounds
As far as I am aware this.. "Lead Dispenser" was requested by the FSB, or more like a gun with such specifications and so far they are the only "Institution" in russia that adopted the weapon. So it´s used in counter terrorism operations. I had a nice picture once of a guy in full gear and a ShaK-12 that was casually doing his job in a pair of swim shorts and flip flops.. if I find it again I will give you guys the link.
He has a video where he fired similar ammunition. Brandon's idea is to make an AK with 50 bmg. This is a completely different ammunition, despite the fact that the caliber is also 12.7.
Subsonic ammo, with muzzle speed lower than the speed of sound, combined with the suppressor/silencer is harder to hear than 7,62x39 suppressed. Measuring dB would be a proof.
you can get 7.62 x 39 subsonic rounds that are around 155 grains or so, though those rounds are not too common I i know good old cheap Tula makes some..
Well, subsonic means speeds lower than the sound barrier. And the the most telling part of a rifles report is the crack, so if it's suppressed and using subsonic rounds it will be harder to hear than basically any supersonic firearm. That is how that works, and was mostly covered in the video.
I wonder how the ballistics of the 12.7x55mm compares to similar rounds like .50 Beowulf and .458 SOCOM? Short range, low velocity, high mass ammunition - I wonder if we'll see a new class of weapons emerge in the near future?
Could fill the role of shotguns potentially. Interesting middle ground with how slow and heavy the rounds are. Good for suppressing too. Very interesting for close quarters engagements. The narrower cartridge makes it more viable than shotties to use stick mags for one thing. A lot of war is going to be fought underground in the future. Potential total ground coverage of autonomous drones guarantees that. China specifically has been prepping for fighting in tunnels for a while now.
@@chloedemeter5473 I’m guessing it really only need to keep its full kinetic potential up to around 100 meters. Anything beyond that is outside the scope of CQB.
This looks like a development of the idea started with the VKS. I don’t think ‘stopping power’ is such a good term to use here, I think kinetic energy is a more accurate description of what you mean when it comes to penetrating cover or armoured targets. Impressive firearm and very compact, I imagine the muzzle blast is killer!
How much energy does a grain of sand carry at the speed of light? Stopping power is a fine term. If I throw a bowling ball at you at 25 mph or shot you with a .45 acp I’d impart the same kinetic load into you provided the .45 stopped in your body. But only one would guarantee you being put on your ass. Size matters in real life. Regardless of what you’re girlfriend says.
@@TheTmshuman Speed is far more important if they're wearing armour. If they're not, as long as you can break skin and bone all that matters is where you hit them. For that reason, a bigger bullet doesn't really offer any advantage, whereas a faster one is more accurate which is an advantage. Of course, it's a balancing act as make the bullet too small and it won't matter how fast it is as it'll deform too much to hit anybody hiding behind anything. This is a problem a lot of 5.56 loads have, whereas the slower but larger 7.62x39 can penetrate such cover. However, if you hit someone with a 5.56, the bullet causes far more internal damage than the 7.62x39 which over-penetrates. So it is a balancing act between penetrating armour or cover and terminal ballistics.
@@djwoody1649 you really don’t understand why the US moved to 5.56 do you? Do you know why we are going to the 6.8 now? Bigger bullets offer higher cross sectional density, long range and better stability (lower CD to stay supersonic longer) and generally better terminal ballistics. The 45 acp is a very very old cartridge and was designed with a very low peak pressure of around 32k psi. There are however modern loadings that will work in most HK pistols and other high end 1911’s called 45 super, which has a thicker case and generates comparable pressures to other modern loadings such as 10mm. It is by far more devastating than 9mm. Without hydrostatic shock/permanent stretch cavity, bigger bullets make bigger holes and drop blood pressure faster and crush more bone and destroy more tissue and more consistently transfer their energy as compared to a smaller bullet with the same energy. A 16lbs bowling ball to your chest at 25mph is going to incapacitate you 10 out of 10 times. A 9mm to the chest will not. They both have roughly the same energy.
Seems similar to 450 Bushmaster in AR platform, often called a thumper. I do like the bullpup design because these large calibers require long barrels to get max effectiveness out of the round.
This has to be the shortest-travel short-stroke I've ever seen, I'd LOVE to see the internals of it. It's basically an assault rifle with the capability of a slug shotgun.
The main point is .338 Lapua case and 55mm full diameter length vs 40/42/43mm for predecessors .458 socom/.50 beowulf and the .450 bushmaster. This would be very popular in USA civilian market. Full auto was surprising, but then anti terror duty has a need. Bullpup good choice.
I always thought a pcc in 45 win mag would be the cats pyjamas. Big bullet, strait case, sub or supersonic. Wouldnt have the case capacity or energy development of a 12.7x55mm, thats kind of huge, but for CQB subs it wouldn't be that much of a difference.
@Timothy Mckee there is 45 super that runs at 28kpsi, higher than the 20kpsi of 45acp. I am just a huge fan of subsonic heavy big bullet stuff. 9x39 (0.362 i think) has 265gr bullets. There is jacketed bullets up to 350gr for .452 usually for 460sw. When you have to keep speed down you want to keep mass up. A sub gun that splats out 350gr bullets as fast as a 1911 spits out 200gr would be a pretty effective room cleaning tool. I dont think it matters what you do, the 45acp o.a.l. will stop you from getting a bullet that heavy to meaningful velocity.
I believe there was a company that did conversions for M1 Carbines in 45 Win. I think there may have been 10mm Mag conversions too. Either way, I always thought something like that would make a sweet PCC or woods gun.
When I first saw this I noticed this looks like an upscaled and auto-rimmed version of the 45-70. In a 12.7mm (approx. 50-51 caliber) the bullet weight could be 500+ grains. The supersonic ammo would be an even better bear stopper than 45-70. Against a human it would be brutal, with or without a vest. I could see this caliber gaining a following here in the US for hunting.
Nor is the rifle, so... (this intended for a professional and military contract scenario where they will purchase thousands of rounds per rifle as a package when they buy a set. Not really a retail item.)
This video really just makes me sad, cause I know I'll never get to own one. Basically my dream gun right here. And as many others have said, excellent host as well. Didn't mess around talking up the gun, just straight no BS overview. Awesome video, liked and subbed!
You'd think she or someone (or the specs listings) might have mentioned the assorted bullet weights/velocities achieved, so buyers could compare these to .458 SOCOM or .50 Beowulf, etc...
Not really. They aren't advertising for competitors. This is an advertisement for an arms company. Their customer base is basically only police and military, so they don't need to win over consumers. They will sell the proprietary ammo with the firearms in lots. Groups that must worry about logistics don't want variety, it just complicates things.

Damn, thats a big can. Edit to add: damm that height over bore with the optic. Hate think of what the offsets are at 300m. This round probably has a rainbow trajectory.
Of course it's got a rainbow arc. It's a straightwalled, subsonic, half inch projectile. Even if you go supersonic the cartridge and gun are limited by design to be good at subsonic.
Noticed one nice feature that sets it above the 50BEO is the double stack mag. She didn't say how many rounds it holds but it's got to be more than the BEO's 7rds in an AR 30rd mag.
Few problems from what i see. The sight is pretty high above barrel so depending on the balistics of the round it can cause some zero problems especially when using multiple types of ammo. The us used some ar platforms thar had a sight set up like this but because of the bullet balistics with the 5.56 is worked out OK…. Bull pup rifles are not prefered amoung many soldiers as they are more difficult to reload in full kit. And the charging handle would only be prefered for left handed shooters. Seems like a nit pick but anyone who has been in heavy combat can atest that your life is a matter of milimeters and nanoseconds.
Just a note, if you rifle has a maximum effective range of 100m, you probably don't need a magnification optic, you need a reflex one. put a red dot or a holo on there and really emphasize the close quarters aspect.

Also having the problem of the discarded sabot going all over the place is pretty bad for a CQB focused gun
@@ridhosamudro2199 It's not a sabot, it's a jacketed AP round like more or less all the other AP rounds used by Russia.
@@TheAirborneSpud he mentioned his surprise of not using sabots. I answered that.
I know a discarding sabot isn't optimal outside of a smooth bore I was just wondering how they got the range they claimed with the AP round without adding too much pressure for the casing to handle. (The longer case length probably helps though.)
They seem to be going for a dual role short and mid range weapon system, with a 300 blackout for example you would have different magazines with ammunition for short range (heavy grain) or medium range (lighter grain, higher powder load), if you go too light on the bullet though you can destabilize the round and lose accuracy which is why I was curious about the twist rate of the barrel.
This is why the Oden is my favourite AR in MW'19
A full rifle that fires special subcaliber 12.7 ammunition thats a hybrid between subcaliber and full caliber. Absolute Frankensteins weapon
I was curious about how much it would affect an infantryman to carry this type of ammunition.
18.0 grams for 12.7x55mm per round (based on Wikipedia, people aren't sure what the average weight really is)
16.1 grams for 7.62x39mm per round
11.7 grams for 5.45x39mm per round
30 rounds x 7 magazines x 18.0g= 3780g -> 8.3 pounds
30 rounds x 7 magazines x 16.1g= 3423g -> 7.5 pounds
30 rounds x 7 magazines x 11.7g= 2457g -> 5.4 pounds
I feel like this would be used by checkpoint guards and counter terrorism teams
it is for home defense so....

It doesn't just defeat the enemy. It Smesh them.
Most of the time you have a rifle with a suppressor attached.
This is a suppressor with a rifle attached.
“12.7mm? Shot its a shotgun or a rifle?”
“Yes.”
I have no idea how this ended up in my recommended, but it's fascinating.
You need to keep this woman doing your videos, she's awesome.
50 beowulf is 12.7x42 so this must be devastating out of an automatic rifle, and a bullpup on top. I'm impressed Russia!

Umm, no, thank you. I'll just sit here at my computer and watch the video, if that's OK.
I'd rather not. Seems unhealthy to dwell on.
Uhm…. I’ll assume your not talking about the gun. 😝
Imagine failure? Very strange and how about imagining the round blasting through a brick wall around Mach One.
Who tf sees a gun and fantasizes about getting shot with it. Seek help.
I wonder how the ballistics of the 12.7x55mm compares to similar rounds like .50 Beowulf and .458 SOCOM? Short range, low velocity, high mass ammunition - I wonder if we'll see a new class of weapons emerge in the near future?
Militaries have actually gone the other direction trying to find a higher knockdown at a further range.
I hope it gets adopted by Russia, because this gun really sucks

I don't know what I should be more impressed with, that gorgeous host. Or that badass rifle. Well done
Muzzle blast? I mean... DID YOU SEE THE SIZE OF THE SUPPRESSOR NEEDED TO TAME IT! If you run out of ammo the suppressor doubles as a club! lol
@@StAlchemyst Hahaha cracking mate.

@Timothy Mckee .45 super is an upgrade to acp, but the op mentioned 45 win mag which is a madman compared to either of them.

Just buy one in Tarkov. It has the advantage of having an accurate one-tap round, followed by 19 rounds flying in every direction you can think of.
Impressive. Thanks!👍

10 or 20 rounds
Few problems from what i see. The sight is pretty high above barrel so depending on the balistics of the round it can cause some zero problems especially when using multiple types of ammo. The us used some ar platforms thar had a sight set up like this but because of the bullet balistics with the 5.56 is worked out OK…. Bull pup rifles are not prefered amoung many soldiers as they are more difficult to reload in full kit. And the charging handle would only be prefered for left handed shooters. Seems like a nit pick but anyone who has been in heavy combat can atest that your life is a matter of milimeters and nanoseconds.
I would imagine since this is for counter terrorist forces they would just remove the carry handle sight for some kind of red dot / magnified optic
