    You did forget something. Steins;Gate 0 is not merely a continuation of the "sad ending" of Steins;Gate; there isn't such a thing. S;G0 is actually the story of the future Okabe, the one that didn't attempt to save Kurisu again, who sent the video to his past self, which is what led to the happy ending. This makes S;G0 a mid-quel actually, not just an alternate story; S;G0 is as part of the original story as S;G is itself.

      that part kind of confuses me (havent watched steins gate in a while as well) but isn't that a paradox? if okabe doesn't save kurisu, he goes in the future and tells his past self how to save kurisu, yet if he does save kurisu, he doesn't go in the future to tell him how to save kurisu?

    You missed an important detail in the ending. Okabe also took Metal-upa before his past self did which caused Kurisu's father to die in a plane crash. The reason behind it is that Mayuri loses that toy and Kurisu finds it and puts it inside the notes that his father steals from her. In the original beta timeline, toy was metal, so detectors didn't let him enter the plane so he survived and caused world war 3. However, his past self got a plastic Upa which didn't trigger the detectors, so he died and the notes he stole from her was destroyed. Thanks to that world war 3 was also prevented.

    The real question is: when Okabe finds Kurisu in the pool of blood…is she really dead or is he seeing her when “the world was tricked” in episode 23 or 24

    • @Sweevee
      @Sweevee  6 лет назад +73

      He is seeing her knocked out body, not dead. Exactly like you said ^_^

    • @zangetsu1597
      @zangetsu1597 6 лет назад +15

      The 2nd iteration of Okabe (the one who had met Makise that day at the lecture) saw an actually dead Kurise the first time. We know she was dead because the 1st Okabe accidentally killed her. But now I'm confused. If he's the one who kills her initially, why did he go back in time to prevent her death? He couldn't have killed her if he never time traveled. Or is her death a convergence, as in she dies at that moment no matter what. Which prompts me to believe that her father ACTUALLY killed her in the initial world line. But isn't this the initial world line? So confused!!
      Tl;dr: How did Makise die the original time, because Okabe going back to prevent the death that he ironically causes isn't making sense to me.

    • @Sweevee
      @Sweevee  6 лет назад +59

      You are correct. Kurisu “dying” is a converging point in time. Whatever happens, the initial Okabe will always see a “dead” Kurisu and freak out. Anyways, to answer your question, Okabe time travelled to save Kurisu NOT KNOWING HE was actually the one who kills her. He simply thought someone else killed her.

    • @zangetsu1597
      @zangetsu1597 6 лет назад +23

      @@Sweevee Which implies that this is a loop. I read somewhere that because the cause of the effect is also the effect of the cause, we never get to see the "original" way Makise dies. The way that is free of time travel. I guess the creators are leaving it to imagination.

    There is a big twist here. The idea to deceive past Okabe is to make him believe that Kurisu is dead. This made him send his first D-mail in the original timeline. This completed the time loop for the Okabe for those 3 weeks. After that, only Okabe knew the time spent with Kurisu in those three weeks. But this means he doesn't remember what actually happened in those three weeks. For Mayuri, Daru and others, events occurred in those three weeks are different. These same events also occurred with Okabe, but he doesn't remember these events in those three weeks, as he was stuck in a different time loop in that period which only Okabe knows.

    To be accurate, rather than an alternative worldline, the SG 0 worldline is a prerequisite for the SG worldline (the happy ending) to happen. Without Okabe going thru everything in SG 0 and send back the video message to passed self, SG worldline will never be achieved.

    Loved the summary of both seasons, just wondering what your opinion is on the episode 25 OVA for Steins;Gate In which shows a “happy ending” in which I personally love and the movie in which takes place a few months after the OG Steins;Gate, having trouble moving on from this anime after binge watching it but loved it, excellent work!

    • @Sweevee
      @Sweevee  6 лет назад +1

      I’m really happy you liked the videos! The OVA was okay, I was happy with the ending of Steins;Gate so the OVA felt a bit forced especially when it came to Kurisu remembering the alternate world lines. Nevertheless it was a fun episode and the kiss at the end got me in the feels

    • @Sweevee
      @Sweevee  6 лет назад +1

      The Steins;Gate movie is okay. I enjoyed it, however like most anime movies based off a series (like the MHA movie), they revolve around elements which are not present within the series which sometimes makes said movie feel a bit useless/unnecessary. But I’m sure you’ll enjoy the Steins;Gate movie ^_^
      Also an anime you may enjoy watching to distract you from post-anime-depression is Assassination Classroom. But if you want something more light hearted, Konosuba is great :D

    Correct me if I'm wrong but this is what I concluded. So at the end the world line splits up into two. 1 where Okabe receives a video from his future self and saves Kirisu and 2 where he doesn't save Kirisu. I think the Okabe from world line 2 who didn't manage to save Kirisu sends the video to Okabe of world line 1.

    • @TheSchokodragon
      @TheSchokodragon 4 года назад +1

      You are mostly correct. A small detail is that at the end no split occurs into two worldlines, because both of them *have already existed* since episode one, which starts off in a beta-line (what you call 2). What happens at the end of the series is a closed loop, where Okabe breaks under the trauma of all he went through, stays in beta and suffers under the loss of Kurisu and the guilt of letting WW3 happen for 15 years until he (2025) figures out a plan for his past-self (August 2010) to fool his even-further-past-self (July 2010) into unknowingly setting off a chain of events that lets everyone live. That plan is the video-mail we see unfold in the final episode that shifts everyone onto a 3rd worldline (the Steins Gate) where neither Mayuri nor Kurisu die.

    For what it's worth, around 2:45 - I think that's incorrect. The IBN5100 is used to read/access the data harvested by ECHELON, it's not connected with the Time Machine research directly. *That* is stuff Daru manages to pull by hacking into Sern's servers (he hasn't finished setting up the IBN5100 at that time).
